Welcome to the Champion's Wild Area Safari Contest! Sponsored by the Association of Safari Zones and Chairman Baoba! Typically, at the Safari Zones around the world we hold capture contests. As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! Today we will be holding a special Safari Contest, here in the Wild Area as part of the World Champion Cup!
The contest is simple, in the Wild Area you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!
In the spoiler tag below is a map of the Wild Area with four different quadrants highlighted. You'll find different Pokemon in each quadrant and the lists for these quadrants are found at the bottom of the posts in spoiler tags. The quadrants, and their corresponding number on the map, are as follows.
1. Southwest Wild Area
2. Southeast Wild Area
3. Lower North Wild Area
4. Upper North Wild Area
[Map]
How to Participate:
The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 50 for all areas. Please be sure to state which area you are in at least in your first post for each area. You may travel to different areas if you wish. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.
Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.
----------
[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dive Ball] 70% Success Rate on Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.
[Nest Ball] 70% Success Rate if Pokemon is a lower stage than your own Pokemon.
[Repeat Ball] 70% Success Rate. Allows a fourth and final capture attempt after the previous three have failed.
[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.
[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.
[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.
[Luxury Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.
[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.
[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Spearow, Stunfisk, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.
[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
----------
As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.
When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Spearow won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Absol would give much more. However, with quality, a Spearow could beat out a Absol.
Contestant Prizes:
Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants, as well as a consolation prize to those who don't make the top three. All participants get to keep the Pokemon they caught. The first place contestant may choose to get a Snag Emblem or additional Snag Coins apart from the normal prize.
1st place prize: 15 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 25 Snag Coins OR Rare Candy!
2nd place prize: 15 Snag Coins
3rd place prize: 10 Snag Coins
All participants who did not place receive 5 Snag Coins as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Snag Coins can be spent in the Snag Mall.
Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points/Happiness Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. For Evolution Points your Pokemon gains 0.50 points for first stage (Caterpie), 0.60 points for second stage (Metapod), 0.70 points for base (Tauros), and 0.80 points for third stage (Butterfree). For Happiness Points you must battle at least five Pokemon to gain one happiness point, including a successful capture. If not catching anything then it's seven battles. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way as Evolution Points. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here! Evolution/Purification Points will be rounded up at the end and we ask you post how many points you accrued in your final post. Bonus points (Evolution, Purification, or Happiness Points) will be rewarded to all participants at the end based on how much effort and content went into your posts. You may lose points if your battles were one liners or just in general lacked any effort.
For the purpose of training you may also use your newly captured Pokemon right away.
And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

Keiko walked up to the sign-up area of the Safari Contest with Stasy in tow, the Chansey smiling happily as she walked alongside her trainer. Taking only one of the Safari Balls and adding her two Heal Balls on to that, the Lopunny hybrid made her way to the Lower North Area.
Upon reaching her destination, Keiko was immediately beset by a wild Nincada. Having no interest in catching it, Keiko let Stasy out of her ball. "Body Slam!" she called out. Stasy charged at Nincada, only to jump and land belly-first on the Bug-type. Displeased with this form of first contact, Nincada burrowed underground to prevent further flattenings.
"Oh, no, you don't! Use Copycat, Stasy!" Keiko shouted. With a happy smile, Stasy used Normal-type energy to siphon a bit of the Ground-type energy Nincada used to use Dig, then converted its energy to Ground-type, allowing her to dig underground seconds before Nincada emerged to attack only to find nothing. Confused, Nincada used Mind Reader to try to detect Stasy's thoughts only to get a tunneling Chansey tackle from beneath.
After regaining its balance, Nincada, starting to get worn out, retaliated with Metal Claw. It's previous use of Mind Reader allowed it to hone in on Stasy's thoughts, preventing any chance of the move to miss. Despite this, Stasy still had plenty of energy left over after that attack.
"Okay, Stasy, try using Zen Headbutt now!" Keiko requested. With a nod, Stasy focused her mind, drawing in Psychic-type energy, and as Nincada advanced with it's own plan of attacked, Stasy lunged forward, her forehead connecting to the surprised Nincada, who wasn't expecting a counterattack to the point where it's planned moved was forgotten, causing it to take the full brunt of the move. The force of Stasy's attack knocked Nincada back, and her special strength knocked it out, causing it to faint.
With a smile, Keiko petted Stasy as a reward for her hard work before moving on in search of other Pokemon.

With the team divided for one final push in this tournament, I had one speculation if anything else. The teams that are severely trailing would end up consuming one another for wishing pieces. Having so many dominant forces, rather it be our team, Galar, Stella, and the like would make it foolhardy to actually dare to come after us directly like all the teams ultimately would have yesterday. They'd probably would have to cut their losses and hope for any chance to stay in it to ultimately recuperate and subsequently stay in the tournament. Unfortunately, I'd think that would only be delaying the inevitable in those teams cases. The dominant teams probably would do like we're doing and just hide out to take part of this safari of sorts. Technically, we all don't have any reason to push our luck to make it to the next round. That being said, we in particular are in a weird spot and there are still pieces up for grab out there in the wild somewhere. Sub was right, this was going to bad today in everyone's frantic pace to stay in this tournament.
Freth, Tristen, and I started our way out, me once again finding myself starting the day by looking at the map of the Wild Area. I've seen a good fair portion of the wild area, mostly thanks to yesterday. That being said, the whole map was daunting. So much to find. "Hmm, where do we go?"
"Anywhere, I guess." Freth said. "You said it yourself, we're in the need for more allies, one way or another. Though I kind of wonder if it would be worth our time to dive in one of those dens and coax out one of those dynamax Pokemon." Freth said.
"I...don't recommend that too much." I said. "The damage those Pokemon can cause can be pretty widespread. Unfortunately, first hand experience on that one. I'm still a bit sore from yesterday from taking some weird steel type attack from a trainer's Pokemon that was dynamaxed. And that's not even getting into some weird effects they cause otherwise."
"We do need to get those wishing pieces though for more stars..." Tristen spoke up.
"We'll leave that to the other group that's with Sub to take care of that one for the time being." I said. "If we end up coming across a piece in the meantime, we'll smash and run with the piece. Until then, we're just out to bolster our position." I continued looking at the map, then actually lamented something just for a moment.
"What's wrong?" Freth asked.
"Ehhh, kinda wish the Alolans didn't have that island on near lock down." I said. "I wouldn't have minded taking a look around. That island had a few dragons over that way, most notably its namesake, Axew. Wouldn't mind trying to raise one and probably show Clair and her apprentice back at home that I can raise a dragon too. Though that would just be a bonus in the grand scheme of things."
"Eh, getting anything in this entire wild area is a coin flip, honestly." Freth said. "The Alolans kinda explained it to me. Apparently the weather around here is kind of erratic, and its because of that dynamax thing. While its not enough to make this region inhospitable, it is enough to make some Pokemon think twice about coming out or not. Take where we had our campsite, for example. Being overran by Gastly one day could be...Driftloon another day, for as all you know."
"....I wondered why I didn't see any Gastly today..." I mused. "Then...whats over that way now? Want to go look?" I asked.
"We can probably figure that out from here." Freth said. We made our way off to a ledge, facing the island across the waters where it resided. Freth took out her binoculars and took a look. "...uh...what...are they doing over there?"
"What?"
"Well, I can tell you that there are a bunch of Krabby and Kingler apparently on the island now."
"...oh."
".....and I think they're having a rave. Those crustaceans look like they are dancing."
"...you're screwing with me." I said. Freth handed me the binoculars and as I peered through them, sure enough, along the sandy edges, the Krabby and Kingler were bobbing and weaving in place with their claws in the air. "...I...don't think I want to go over there anymore."
"Let me see." Tristen spoke up. I passed the binoculars over and Tristen managed to see what I saw. "...I have questions..."
"Did the Alolans do that? If so, they are freakin' weird." I said.
"Let's just go. We're wasting time." Freth said. We started to make our way off towards the Southeast area of the Wild Area.

We followed the path, moving over hills, and finally reached the southeastern area of the wild area. "You know, I just realized something..." Freth would say. "You still only can use one Pokemon during the safari itself. You're not going to be able to go between both your Articuno and Torchic in the safari. Did...you plan on using Torchic for the Safari? Or are you just going to leave the ball somewhere again?"
"Freth, please stop that." I said. "I am already having issues with me comprehending a mere understanding lead to a massive, potentially disastrous, mistake." I said. Freth was not going to let it go, needing a eye brow to raise for the mere prospect for playful teasing. "At...any rate, that...does raise a thought to me." I said. "Torchic could use the battling experience, but just as Tristen said, the name of the game is getting knock outs on these Pokemon for tournaments sake. That is honestly hard to say..."
"If we can't switch around our own Pokemon, then why not switch who fights?" Tristen suggested. "The three of us are together for right now, which is different from how we used to do it, you don't need to constantly fight every last fight we come across until your Pokemon gets too tired. Like, take turns or something."
"Or based on what kind of a Pokemon we end up coming across. You know, your basic type matchups." Freth said, knowing where Tristen was going with it. "Either way, the Pokemon that fought can rest while another trainer can pick up the slack."
"That'd probably work out better. I do remember that I end up having to run from a lot of the fights the last time I did this for one reason or another and this time, we don't really have an option to do that less we want to potentially screw our chances in the tournament."
"I think everyone had that issue." Freth would note.
"Alright, lets do just that, then." It was a sound plan, I'd thought.
Tristen perked up, looking back, staring in confusion. Staring towards the brush, the rustling of the tall grass getting Tristen's attention thanks to his hearing. "Uh...Blizz? Freth?" Tristen spoke up.
"What is it?"
"There's...something over there." The three of us waited for a moment, and from the brush, came a small Pokemon, one the three of us was familiar with thanks to the Hoenn region. "A...Seedot?" Tristen spoke up.
"Huh, some of those here as well, huh? Alright well, open game, I guess. I'll lead off."
"Figured you say that." Freth said.
I stepped forward. "Torchic, get to it!" I said, tossing out the Pokeball. In a flash, out comes Torchic ready for battle, squaring off with the Seedot.
"Tooor!"
"Alright, Torchic, get ready."
"Do good, Torchic, don't get lost in there."
"Tor?"
"Freth, please stop..." The distraction came at a poor time, the Seedot made the first move, running up to the Torchic and giving it a hard smack, making the Torchic reel back. "Bah, he hit him with Astonish!" I said. "Torchic, Fire Pledge!"
Torchic shook its head then retaliated, unleashing a hefty blaze upon the grass Pokemon, racking up the damage and then some to make up for lost ground. The Seedot was a bit more resilient than it let on, however. Despite it ended up pretty singed from the attack, it managed to retaliate, springing back right into a full bodied tackle into the fire chick. "Tooor!" It squeaked out.
"Torchic, you got this! Sand Attack!" I called out. The Torchic kicked up a hefty clod of dirt, pelting the Seedot. The Seedot started frantically shaking itself, trying to be able to see once again. The Seedot once again rushed for Torchic, trying to tackle it once more. Torchic managed to duck out of the way, leaving the Seedot to fly right by it and hit the ground.
"Nice work, Torchic. Scratch attack!" I said. It was a case of trying to kick a Pokemon while it was down, sure, but I was not going to take any chances. While the Seedot was trying to get back up, Torchic rushed for the Seedot and pounced right on top of it. Torchic took its tiny feet and started to dig in as hard as it could, scratching away as frantically as it could. The Seedot flailed about, bucking Torchic off of it.
The Seedot managed to get back on its feet then started to gather power from the area around it, forming into a ball of power. "Wait, is that an energy ball attack? A wild Seedot doing that?" Tristen spoke up.
"Its probably using Nature Power! Torchic incoming!" The Seedot fires the shot and manages to hit its mark. The damage in the grand scheme of things wasn't that great, but really, every hit counts in this tournament. "Torchic, you alright?"
"Tor!" The tiny bird spoke up, getting back up on its feet.
"Take it home. Use Flame Charge!" I called out.
The Torchic then rushed full speed ahead, its body started to engulf in flames and subsequently smashed right into the Seedot, causing a great deal of damage. The Seedot was not getting up after the likes of that.
"Nice work, Torchic."
"Tor!" It spoke up, triumphant in what it did.
With the first knockout down, we made our way off to look for another mark to take on.
After the first victory, to make sure Torchic stuck close and was able to keep up with us, I allowed the fire chick to perch on my shoulder for the time being. Though with after my mishap yesterday, Freth had to press the attack. "Leaving Torchic on your shoulder so you won't forget-"
"Freth, do you MIND!?" I asked.
"Torrrr?" The Torchic spoke up to me. I stood there, seeing Freth with what would otherwise be a pretty hefty grin if she could do that with a bird beak.
"You're relishing in this, aren't you?" I asked.
"Hey, you're the one who did it."
"It was a freakin' accident!"
"Toooooorrr?" Torchic stared in confusion, looking between the two of us, lost as to what was being insinuated, wondering what did hie miss?
"Just...don't worry about it." I said.
"Or do." Freth said.
"Freth, please."
Tristen could only look on, staring at the two of us, rolling his eyes. Though, he had to admit, this was actually pretty funny the way everything was playing out between his adoptive parents.
The three of us continued on with Tristen taking the lead, we made our way down a path, down a side of the hill, and started along near one of the major lakes in the wild area, one that seemed to be considerably bigger than the one we nearly camped out at. As we traveled around the massive lake, right in our path, coming from the waters, a Wooper found itself on shore. "...uhhhh..." Tristen spoke up. Was this thing hostile? All it was doing was...staring, giving a head tilt while it was at it.
"So, Wooper. I guess having those around here makes some sense. Probably a lot of amphibious types about here. "Who wants it?"
"I'll battle." Tristen said, taking out his own Pokeball. "Eevee!" he then called out, releasing the Eevee inside.
"Evaaah!" It spoke up as soon as the Eevee was revealed from its ball.
"Alright Eevee, get ready." The Eevee squared off against the Wooper. The Wooper looked back in surprise, wondering why the Eevee was starting to look a bit aggressive. "Eevee, use Quick Attack!" The Eevee sprang forth, quickly building up speed and smacked right into the Wooper. The water type tumbled back a bit, but then got pretty upset. It pushed itself back up off the ground, not liking the unprovoked attack. The Wooper then fired off a dense glob of mud, pelting the Eevee with it.
"Evvvah!" It shouted out, the mud getting all into its fur, but worse still, slowed the Eevee down a bit, the stickiness and weight of it making it hard to move around in this small mound of mud.
"A Mud Shot." Freth spoke up. "Typical Wooper affair."
"And if I know right..."
"Eevee, get out of there!" As Eevee tried to wade itself out of the mud, the Wooper then switched attacks, following up with a hard stream of water, forcefully blasting the Eevee out of the mud clod.
"Water Gun." I said. "Can't miss a target who can't really dodge."
"Yep."
"Tristen, careful with that. The more damage you take, the worse off you'll be later!" I called out to him.
"I know! Eevee! Use Hidden Power!" He called out. The Eevee shook some of the mud and water off of it then started to conjure up power. Orbs started to orbit it which suddenly turned into its ghostly ethereal form. The Eevee retaliated, firing off the attack towards the Wooper, blasting it back.
"Maybe you should convince Tristen to teach Eevee Shadow Ball." Freth said. "It would be better than a ghost-type Hidden Power attack, right?"
"I'm letting him do his own thing. I'm sure he taught Hidden Power for a reason." I said, crossing my arms as I watched.
The Wooper managed to get back up once more, but this time took a more direct approach, rushing for the Eevee, but then leaping up and started to drive its tail down towards Eevee. "Eevee, its a Slam attack! Look out!" Tristen called out. Eevee hunched down then leaped back in the nick of time. The Wooper smashed its tail upon the ground, missing its mark, but worse still for it, leaving it wide open. "Eevee! Body Slam!" Tristen shouted.
The Eevee then went into a full-on sprint, rushing right for the Wooper who was trying to get itself righted after that botched Slam attack. "Eeevvvvah!" The Eevee shouted, smashing right into the Wooper, causing a great deal of damage. The Wooper fell back down, and this time, it wasn't getting back up.
"I think that is game." I said.
"Looks that way." Tristen said. "Good work, Eevee."
"You going to capture it?" Freth asked.
"Nah, I still want to see what this wild area has. We only can pick up one, right?"
"That's true." Freth said.
"Alright then, lets see what else this place is hiding." I then spoke up.

After defeating a Nincada, a wild Roggenrola decided to try it's luck against Keiko and Stasy. Keiko wasn't interested in catching this one either, however, so Stasy stood forward to battle it. "Let's get this over with quickly, Stasy. Brick Break!"
Stasy ran for Roggenrola, delivering an overhead chop flush with Fighting-type energy. The attack landed head-on, but the wild Roggenrola survived the hit looking rather well-off, having combined the use of Endure with the activation of it's ability, Sturdy. Both Keiko and Stasy were surprised by this to the point where Roggenrola leapt above Stasy, gathering Fighting-type energy around it before slamming into the Chansey via Body Press, a move that was just as effective to Stasy without the Normal-type having Endure or Sturdy to rely on.
"Stasy! Are you okay?" Keiko asked, worried for the only Pokemon of hers that she currently had access to. Stasy, however, became infuriated at Roggenrola's surprise attack, and retaliated by grabbing the Rock-type, leaping into the air, and throwing it back to the ground, forcing it to faint with the power of Seismic Toss.
Relieved that Stasy was not only okay, but that she had defeated her opponent, Keiko decided to take Stasy out of the tall grass so she could get some rest before continuing the challenge.
With another Pokemon down, the three of us made our way deeper into the wild area to find what else this region contained. So far, much to our confusion, we haven't really found anything...all that interesting all that yet. Pokemon we could easily find, perhaps easier, in some other region. While it was to be expected we may end up finding such Pokemon, we have to admit we didn't expect to find them immediately.

As we traveled down the lake, it was almost in short order where we would end up finding yet another water type. Floating upon the water and crawling up on the shore, a Lotad came forth. Another familiar Pokemon. "...ok, refresh my memory, we're no where near Hoenn, right?"
"Yea?" Tristen spoke up.
"Ok, just checking." I said. This was getting a little disappointing. I'd probably be better off just seeing what Team Galar had in each of their respective trainer parties.
"I guess I'll go on ahead. This one probably won't take as long with you two with your battles." Freth said, taking out a Pokeball.
"Well, go ahead strut around your evolved Pokemon around, don't mind the little tykes." I said, crossing my arms, waiting to see the battle unfold.
"Evvahh?"
"Toor?"
The two unevolved Pokemon looked at Freth, staring at her as if they just got the shaft because they weren't big and strong. "...uhhh..." Suddenly, I had that look on my face, similar to Freth when she made it a mission to tease me about losing Torchic like I did. "...truce?" Freth asked.
"...are you sure? You sure you don't-"
"Blizzard, I swear to God."
"-want a evolved Pokemon to do the job for you. Oh, maybe we should get to a roto-drone after all. Mamoswine might want to strut around here."
"Eevvah....?"
"Tooooor?"
The look on Freth's face was priceless. Ah, return of their own medicine. "Bah, Hitmonchan!" Freth turned back around, tossing out the ball. In a flash, the Hitmonchan was revealed and was ready to battle.
"Get to it Hitmonchan. Show them what a big, tough Pokemon can do for Freth." I shouted.
"Hit-mo-chaaa?" Hitmonchan spoke up, staring back in confusion, with Eevee and Torchic practically glaring at Freth at this point.
"Blizzard, go to hell. Hitmonchan, forget it! Get in there!" The Lotad squared up, immediately knowing where this was about to go, took the initiative, firing off a thick stream of bubbles towards Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan brought his arms up over his face, guarding as best he could to withstand the Bubblebeam assault. "Hitmonchan! Power Up Punch!"
"Hit-mon!" The Hitmonchan broke through the Bubblebeam and rushed over towards the Lotad, smashing its fist right into the Lotad. The Lotad went helplessly flying from the fighting type's iron fist, causing great damage upon it and worse still for this Pokemon, Hitmonchan was feeling rather empowered from the attack. "Now, follow through! Mach Punch!" Freth shouted. As the Lotad was on the descent to hit the ground, Hitmonchan rushed in with blinding speed, smashing its fist once again into the Lotad with great speed and great force, sending it to the ground.
The Lotad was reeling hard after such a relentless assault as it pushed itself back off the ground. Towering over it was Hitmonchan, and with him, the virtual improbability that this Lotad was going to win this fight. With one last desperate hurrah, the Lotad mustered what it had left and ran into the Hitmonchan...with not a lot of force at all, a desperate attempt for an Astonish attack. "Yeaaah...this fight is over. Get it back in the water. Mega Kick." Freth said.
"Mega Ki-" I started to speak up. The Hitmonchan practically punted the Lotad a good distance away from the shore and into the waters. "...Ok, one, dirty boxer. Two: Holy crap, overkill much? Having to strut-"
Rounding the lake, the three of us, along with our respective Pokemon, noticed what was talked about earlier, specifically about the off-kilter weather. At least, what we suspected to be the case. The occasional snowflake started to come down from what was appearing to be just a mere overcast day. "...snow?" Tristen spoke up.
"That's not my doing." I said.
"Tooor." Torchic spoke up.
"Not me either." Freth commented.
"Mon-chaan."
"Just to be sure, there's nothing around here other than that Dynamax stuff causing this, right?" I asked.
"You know, I kind of wonder how in the world this place isn't completely desolate or something if what determines rather the sun shines overhead or not is that phenomenon. I mean, there's got to be a catch to all of this." Freth said. "Then again, I'm probably looking too deep into it. Maybe the Alolans was just screwing with me." Freth said.
"I don't know, the most of what I know is what I seen first hand." I said. "What it does to the world abroad is beyond me. I don't know the science to it. Hell, never even heard of it until I got here."
"Apparently, what I found out, its been around a long time, but it was only recently discovered to be harnessed. Sometime within the last few decades or so." Tristen spoke up. "They then made Premier Balls to commemorate the event because the Pokeballs when they go large look like that."
I thought about that, namely when I dynamaxed Articuno yesterday. "Yea, I guess I can confirm that. White with pink where the ball seals, right?"
"Uh-huh." Tristen said, holding up Eevee's Pokeball, itself being a Premier Ball and the same one that I gave Tristen his Eevee a while back ago. "And from there, people give Premier Balls to others for special occasions like the dynamax discovery. Though I guess in a PokeMart's case, its just because someone bought a bunch of other Pokeballs and they made a lot of money at once. Its weird."
"......that is weird, and not sure if I would have preferred not knowing that." I said.
"Aaaand you learned that over the past couple of days?" Freth questioned, wondering when he had the time to do so.
"Last night, actually. Had to...get my mind off of things...I was looking at my SNAG when you two went to sleep." Tristen said.
"Understandable." I then commented.
As the discussion continued, Freth took notice to something a distance behind Tristen. "Are we sure that the Dynamax thing is REALLY causing this?" Freth said, pointing towards a few trees. The two of us looked over, taking notice to what Freth was trying to bring attention to. Between them, a Snover was seen. "Or is it because of something like that?"
"To cause a change in the whole area? You'd need a lot of Snover if you're implying that this is just the effects of Snow Warning."
"...worth a guess." Freth said. "Though who is to say there aren't more around here."
"True." I then took notice to the Snover starting to get squared up and ready to go. Apparently it was looking for a fight. "Though this thing is miscounting its chances. I'll take this." I told the two. Freth and Tristen got behind me as I started to move forward. "Alright Torchic, time for another one."
"Tor!" I said, setting Torchic down upon the ground and it ran forward to take a position.
"Ready?"
"Tor!"
"VEERRR!" The Snover shouted, and instantly, the occasional flakes of snow started to transition into hail. Snow Warning was now going full swing.
"We need to make this quick. Torchic! Use Flame Charge!" I shouted.
"Tor!" Torchic rushed in as fast as it could, its body engulfing in flames as it ran into the Snover, causing extreme damage to the Pokemon.
The Snover shrilled out in pain as the flames took hold but quickly put itself out before any major burns took hold. The Snover then retaliated unleashing a flurry of Razor Leaves to cut into Torchic; not causing all that much damage. Really, they only caused about as much as the hail that was constantly pelting the tiny bird. Unforunately, I knew that this was going to add up if left unchecked.
"Torchic, Fire Pledge!" I called out. The Torchic breathed in then expelled a harsh flame upon the Snover, once again causing catastrophic damage to the Snover, quickly sending any hopes this Pokemon had in defeating Torchic up in smoke.
"Good work. Now lets get clear. It'll still take a minute for the hail to clear out from his Snow Warning attack and I don't plan on letting Torchic just stand around in it. Let's go." I said, picking the bird back up and rushing off.

Getting clear of the miniature hailstorm, I took a closer look at Torchic to assess the damage it took so far, and really, Torchic seemed fine. "You holding up okay, Torchic?"
"Tor!" It spoke happily back.
"That's good." Seems pretty fine as well. Probably the perks of taking on things that he would have the advantage against. "Alright, so where do we go from here." I said, putting Torchic back on my shoulder.
"Well, we can head over this way, see what we can find." Tristen said.
Ryan and Lillie arrive at the front desk of the Safari Contest. He turns to her. "Gonna try and catch something?"
"I..I..don't know. being around so many pokemon feels a bit overwhelming," she says nervously to Ryan.
"Nothing to it, yeah? And besides, you'll have your current partner, me, and James to give you support. We just have to find out which one would be best for you to go after is all." Ryan says and points her to the listings.
Lillie's eyes all but light up just past halfway through the four lists. "Oh! A Cuitelfy would be a perfect addition to my team next to my Clefairy!" she says with a burst of enthusiasm that was a bit surprising coming from her, but it seemed once she got motivated, she became quite focused.
Ryan taps a spot on an earlier list. "Well, I am looking to add a bit more Galarian flare to my team. So how about you watch and support me first, then I'll return the favor, yeah?" he offers to her.
"yeah!" she chirps back.
And so after collecting their Safari Balls, the duo would head into Zone 2 to start Ryan's search for the pokemon he was after.

As we continued to make distance from where I had left a Snover to smolder, I had to admit, weird as the circumstances were for this Safari Contest, this was...actually pretty fun. At least, as far as having a travel companion or two to go with. This was finally starting to feel vaguely like a vacation, which was what this trip to Galar needed desperately. Between off-kilter old professors and eldritch abominations to ruin things, just a simple Pokemon outing into the wild unknown was actually making things look a bit better. Something to finally get our minds off of...things. For real. Perhaps I should put in a word to Sub to at least take this kind of note from Galar. As they say about the broken clock, I guess...
We continued down the path we found, making our way across a grass patch, and just then Tristen noticed something. "..."
"Whats wrong?"
"You feel that, Blizz? You know, with your senses."
"Nothing more than what I already get from this region, why?"
"There's a bit of electricity moving around here."
"You've probably realized you're a bit absurdly sensitive to electromagnetic fields and such." Freth mused. "Probably because of your Lightning Rod ability. You probably didn't realize it until now."
"I dunno about that one." Tristen said. "I didn't really start feeling stuff like that until around the time I ended up having to fry everything using the Zapdos Heart at Realgam Tower and even then, I kinda had to really try. I really didn't start feeling it like you two with those pressures or whatever until after that."
"Then perhaps the Zapdos Heart made you more susceptible to it, then. Or, coincidentally or incidentally, your evolution." I would then theorize.
"Maybe." Tristen said. "Though I kind of wonder why-" And as if being answered before he asked, a Electrike started to trot across the tall grass, seeing the three of us, along with each of our Pokemon and started to haunch up. One of the few Pokemon that would actually try to come after any other 'intruders' so willingly. "-there's electricity running by here..." Tristen, looking at the Electrike, started to feel a hair nostalgic. "I'll take this one." Tristen said to the two of us.
"Okay." Freth said. The two of us stepped back with our Pokemon. Tristen held his arm out and Eevee ran down it and hopped off right at the wrist, landing and squared off with the Electrike.
"What do you got for ranged options on Eevee, Tristen? Is Hidden Power the only attack? It'll suck if this Electrike has the Static ability and Eevee gets paralyzed." I called out to him. "Its not like we're going to be able to go to a Pokemart, and god knows where a drone is to pull items out. I've yet to see one on our trip."
"I got ideas. Besides if it wants to really paralyze something, it could just Thunder Wave if it got it, so no point in keeping Eevee away anyways." Tristen said.
I merely gave a shrug. "Alright. Your call." I said.
The Electrike would strike immediately. Enough waiting around. The Electrike would quickly rush forth, pouncing on Eevee and started to bite down hard on the Eevee. Eevee squealed out, flailing about trying to get the Electrike off of him. "Eevee, get out of there!" Eevee managed to twist and turn, eventually bucking the Electrike off. "Eevee! Body Slam!" Eevee would spring back up and retaliate, smashing right into the Electrike.
The Electrike would not skip a beat, springing back up, its body sparked up and unleashed a whole electrical onslaught; while not that strong, there was no way for Eevee to get away from it. "A Shockwave attack. Cheeky." Freth would note.
"Eevee! Use Quick Attack." Tristen would command. The Eevee rushed in rapidl, going straight for the Electrike with great speed, however the Electrike retaliated in kind with its own kind, the attacks colliding and they both recoil from their attacks. "Eevee, Swift attack!" Tristen would follow up. The Eevee would conjure up various stars, bombarding the Electrike where it stood and finally dispatching the Electrike. It wasn't wanting to get back up again.
"I think he's done." Freth said.
Tristen would wait a few seconds. "Yea, I think your right."
"...are...are you okay, Tristen?"
"Yea, I'm fine. Just...thought about something. Nothing to worry about." Tristen said.
"Not capturing it?" I asked.
"Nah. I'm good. Still trying to figure out whats around here." Tristen said.
"Fair enough." I then said. From there we continued on our path.
Well, that Snover was definitely wasn't what he was looking for. And even for battle's sake, it really wasn't something Ryan was looking for either. That annoying part grass was not something he was a fan of. But the battle had to be made for success on the day.
"Alright James! Get in there with U-Turn!" Ryan says as he and his Drizzile spring to battle, James, getting the drop on the Snover and sending it sprawling. While the Ice/Grass types Snow Warning did kick in effectively, the Razor Leaf it tried to use went all over, a few leaves almost hitting Ryan.
"Once more!" Ryan urges James. Once more the Drizzile would rush in and use U-Turn on the Snover, putting a quick end to the fight. While James did suffer a touch of ice damage, he was doing alright so far.
"Wow! he's so quick!" Lillie comments.
"That is how James wants to attack. fast and or from a distance to get the drop on his opponents." Ryan explains as James nods.
