Yusaku was a duelist who went by the code name Playmaker. He was abused as a child forced to win duels under harsh circumstances, but was rescued. He wants revenge against the guys that did this to him, that forced him to duel and those guys were the Knights of Hanoi. An AI program called the Ignis was on the run from Hanoi and another corporation subbed under Hanoi. Playmaker was determined to save this Ignis from a horrible fate and perhaps use it as a bargaining chip.

Playmaker was introduced to speed dueling in the Vrains thanks to the Ignis and Playmakers revenge plan. He learns how to Link Summon and manages to beat one of the pawns for the Knights of Hanoi, but had to be saved during the duel by another duelist named Blue Angel.

Playmaker has become the hottest story of Link Vrains, but nobody can find him. Then during class, one of Yusaku's buddies shows Yusaku aka Playmaker that a knight of Hanoi has invaded Link Vrains once again.

George the Gore was upset that the orphan kids that he helps out was cheering for Playmaker after all The Gore did for these tykes. So he has SOL technologies who are after the ignis arrange a duel between the Gore and Playmaker. If the Gore wins, he gets AI and the kids' respect for still being number 1, but if he loses, Playmaker is number 1 instead and he has to swallow his pride.

Playmaker wins the duel, but even so, the children that the Gore takes care of still think Gore is a great duelist and will never stop being his fans.

Wanting to get closer to SOL tech to find out more about why they want the Ignis, Playmaker contacts Blue Angel, the sister of the head of security at SOL. But, the Knights of Hanoi get to Blue Angel and stick a card into her deck. AI detects this and arranges a duel.

Playmaker defeats Blue Angel, but in doing so, he has triggered a Hanoi virus, which puts Blue Angel into a comatose state.

Blue Angel was sent to the hospital and at first Akira blamed Playmaker for her condition when Ferris reveals the truth and challenges Playmaker to a duel. Should Playmaker win, Blue Angel will be cured, but should he lose, then not only will Blue Angel die, but the ignis belongs to the Knights of Hanoi.

The duel between Ferris and Playmaker begins, but things do not look good for Playmaker.

Ferris and Playmaker tie in their speed duel, but within the master duel now going on, Ferris has once again made it tough for Playmaker.

With only 600 life points left, Playmaker begins to make a comeback.

Playmaker wins the duel, saves Blue Angel and manages to see what AI's true form actually looks like.

Ghost Gal gives the Vrains media the footage of the duels involving Playmaker, thus showing a recap of what happened, but at the end of the epsiode, Playmaker's hacking skills erases the footage.

Ghost Gal challenges Playmaker to a duel offering a code into Sol Tech if she loses, but if she wins, she gets AI.

Playmaker wins the duel and earns Ghost Gal's prize, but Ghost gal wasn't upset at her loss. She did have one fantastic duel.
