None of the girls had any idea what those sounds were.

Guild Owner: Okay. I would think of all the fun that's possible to have on Supermarket Sweep. Have a seat and I'll tell you more about it. The Guild Owner plays the opening of that show: Computer: Is this one of your fantasies? You see a big, beautiful supermarket & they say to you: "Go ahead! Do what you always wanted to do. Run wild, grab everything you can get your hand on! Everything in this supermarket is yours & its all free!" From Hollywood, its the return of the one and only, Supermarket Sweep!
Guild Owner: THAT'S the show I remember as a child. Supermarket Sweep started in 1990 on the Lifetime Channel. The announcer for this Era is Johnny Gilbert, who is recognized as the announcer of Jeopardy while David Ruprecht was the host. Here's how this game works... The game is played with 3 Teams of pairs of two players as they compete for $5,000.
= Gameplay Round 1: Start & Mini Sweep Guild Owner: In a fandom, the Points would be similar to Sweep Time but I'm talking about the original show at the moment. To begin, each team is granted 1:30 of Sweep Time. The first Round has Question Types to answer to build up the score. The First is the Mini Sweep, the host would read a clue which is similar to a champion team would face in the Bonus Sweep. The team that rang in got 10 Seconds Sweep Time and a shot at a cash bonus in which that teammate must find a Specially Marked Item and bring it back worth $50 to $100. After that we meet the teams and 1 player from each team sits out in the meantime. Which leads into other Question Types.
= Gameplay Round 1: Pricing Game Guild Owner: Some questions are Pricing Games such as a single item being shown and the teams must guess the item's closest price without going over, which ranges from 10 to 30 Seconds Sweep Time.

Dranor whispered to Ariane Maybe we can ask the narrator if there's any so-called pricing games he remembers from that so-called Supermarket Sweep show, Ariane?

Guild Owner: Another common pricing game on Supermarket Sweep that's also worth 10 to 30 Seconds Sweep Time would be Most/Least Expensive. I'll show you an example of one. How this works is that the host shows 3 different items. Let's say the first item is a blue bell ice cream orange swirl, the second item is Honey Nut Chex and the third item is Quaker Chewy Dipps Chocolatey Covered Granola Bars. The Host would then ask to pick one of the 3 items that the teams think is most or least expensive. Being 1, 2 or 3.
= Round 1 Questions Part 2-2 Guild Owner: The second half of Round 1 is the same as before. Some of the questions being shown a list of various items. The host would read off 6 brand names in which 3 or more items are being talked about. One example is this... Wintergreen Spearmint Bubblegum Cinnamon Apple Peppermint Then the example question would be which ones are mentioned with Mints. A team would ring in and provide an answer such as Spearmint. Each correct answer is worth 10 Seconds Sweep Time. In a Fandom sense, 3 or more would be played for a Grand Total of 30 Seconds Sweep Time or more. Some of these were simple pricing games but there were some harder ones such as the Shootout which played similar to the Pyramid-Style of Questions. How this works is that each letter spells out a word and player has to guess it. The person asking the Pyramid Style questions on the cue cards can say and do anything to get the person to guess the word, when the player answering does so, a letter is added, if that player doesn't know, that player can Pass to the next letter. Each pricing game were played for added Sweep Time.
= Round 1 Questions: Round Robin Guild Owner: The Final Question type in Round 1 is called the Round Robin which was common, no matter which episode it is. When this Question Type is played, this would be a team's last shot at building Sweep Time. Here's how this works. Players would sometimes be shown a scrambled word after that, the host reads 3 clues to help them guess. For example...
*Demo Mode* Word 1-8: ATRXE
The Guild Owner gives an example of a Round Robin Question. Guild Owner: Bonus... Mint... Sugarless...
Eldin guesses the example Extra.
Word 1-8: ATRXE/EXTRA
Guild Owner: That's how its done. Unlike some pricing games, this used both players from each team, who change places after each word. This Question Type is the Longest for a total of 60 to 80 Seconds. Its very possible for one team to collect the full amount of Sweep Time. This was used Twice in the Final Episode of the Lifetime Era's Twin Car Tournament. More on that later along with the fandom sense. After this question is played, there was one intermission away from what everyone sees. Speaking of which, its a lot safer here than it is in a Market where Supermarket Sweep would be taped & you'll know why.
= Gameplay Round 2: Big Sweep Guild Owner: Like Legends of the Hidden Temple's Temple Run, this is what everyone would remember from watching Supermarket Sweep. As there's a Very Large, Fully Stocked Supermarket filled with anything a person can think of as its time to put it to use. The Sweep Times each team gained throughout Round 1 shows which team goes First, Second and Last, as all 3 teams compete at once as a result which also determined their team colors, Red, Blue & Yellow. The Players running the Big Sweep would race into the market & get as many items as they can, including Bonuses. Each vary from game to game. So here's the 3 Common ones that are used each time after the main bonuses are featured. The Candy Counter where players fill a bag of Candy that's within $1, give or take 2 cents for $100. A fandom sense would be within $2 for $200. The Coffee Counter is similar, grind coffee beans into one bag for $100 or $200. The third and most common is the Super Bonuses, being inflatables or POI versions of products with a Bonus tag on them. 3 of them are chosen as they are worth anywhere from $50 to $300. Even though its not shown until the end of the Round as the player must bring back both the Super Bonus along with its tag to score & by the way, these Money Maker Bonuses, including the rest of them are allowed one per team. So its possible to have one of each type of Money Maker Bonus. I can't go over all of them because I would be here all day. But I can go over some of them. The $300 Movie is one example where players would need to push the button on the 3 television monitors for a clue that is related to that movie. The TV Monitors would not be enabled until the Middle of Round 2 with the phrase, "Activate the TV Monitors". It may take 1-3 clues but the correct movie is worth $300. Here's one example... Sisters Royalty Eternal Winter 2 Disney Princesses The Answer would be Frozen, in case you haven't noticed by now. On the show, Videotapes are used, but in a Fandom sense, DVDs, Blu-Rays would be used for that Sweep Bonus. There was the Cracker Jackpot where players would tear open as many boxes of Cracker Jacks in which some have prizes inside and some do not. But if a team finds a Token with the show's logo, its worth $200. The Ice Cream Machine where players have to fill a cup of Ice Cream in a certain way using 3 out of 4 flavors with the 1st on the bottom, the 2nd in the middle and 3rd at the top as doing so in the correct order is worth $250. The Giant box of Laundry which has 4 envelopes worth $25 to $100 and later, $50 to $200 but only one envelope per team. And that's some of the Bonuses as there's plenty in the market that's expensive such as big turkeys, cheeses and more. During the Sweep, it can turn into a madhouse really fast. One thing to note is that Players are not limited to one cart. If a cart gets too full then its not a big deal. A player can bring the full cart back at anytime for a new one. Of course the Big Sweep is not without its Penalties for violations. For instance, players are limited to 5 of a kind of item per cart. Also they would need to leave the market in good condition by NOT leaving anything on the floor which results in a penalty that's not mentioned. As a result, players would need to be careful not to litter. The average sweep time would be at least 3 Minutes on the show & afterwards, the players would return to the checkout counter being the starting line later on to add their totals. All the items purchased, its value, Bonuses picked up, everything that was in the player's cart and later across the line is totaled up to see what that total is which determined which team becomes Champion upon winning the game.
The girls guessed they would have to trust that the guys would know the answers to the questions.

= Gameplay Round 3: Bonus Sweep Guild Owner: The Champion with the Highest Total gets to keep both the merchandise & money, regardless of the outcome, then gets to go for $5,000. The Bonus Sweep works the same way as the Mini Sweep but with some changes. The Champion Team has 3 clues to find it and once the Host finishes reading the First Clue, the Round Starts. Before a taping, each team would select a Bonus Envelope marked 1 to 3 & they must have the $5,000 to win. These Clue range from a puzzle to a sentence about an item's name. Once an item is found that's Specially Marked, they would read the next clue attached to it leading to the next item. When they reach the Final Clue & find the final item, then get their hands on the famous Fan of Money which has $5,000, that team wins both the money and is added alongside the Bonus Sweep Items that are worth $200 each and the Big Sweep Total to see what the Final Score was, in addition to keeping those nice Team Shirts or sweaters too. The Champion Team's Bonus Sweep items are added to the Big Sweep Total, win or lose to see what the Final Score in addition to keeping those nice team colored shirts or sweaters.
= Lifetime Conclusion Guild Owner: The Lifetime Era of this show had a finale in 1994 where the Champion Teams would compete in a Twin Car Tournament, worth $25,000, being the Geo Trackers. The Tournament lasted for 5 Weeks. The Finals had 6 Teams instead of 3, where they were each given 3 Minutes of Sweep Time along with 8 Round Robin Questions worth $50 each to be added to the Big Sweep Total. The First 3 teams would go through their Big Sweep then the Second 3 Teams would go through their Big Sweep as well. The Highest Sweep Total Team wins the pair of Cars. The Lifetime Era of Supermarket Sweep ended in 1995.
= Pax Era Guild Owner: 5 Years later, Supermarket Sweep returned in 2000 when it aired on Pax TV. The Double Your Money Tournament was the end of the Pax Era Version in 2003.
= Conclusion Guild Owner: Overall, Supermarket Sweep is really fun that I used to watch as you can see 3 teams go on a shopping frenzy by turning a supermarket into a madhouse. But really fun to watch. If I made an OOC Game, it would be fun to see 3 teams run wild through a supermarket getting their hands on anything they encounter for a shot at $5,000.
Eldin said to Aulona That sounds like fun, Aulona.
"Yeah," Aulona replied with a nod. She still didn't know what any of those words meant, but maybe it was fun, she thought confused.

Guild Owner: That's all I know for the time being about Classic Supermarket Sweep. But there is another version that I never heard of which is Rare & Very Difficult to Find. The 1965 to 1967 Version of Supermarket Sweep on ABC which set the foundation for Supermarket Sweep from 1990 to 2003. After the 1965 Version of Supermarket Sweep ended, ABC wiped the Master Tapes of that show and reused them which was common back then as those Master Tapes are very expensive. The only known whereabouts of that show are in Museums and Collectors. Other than that, I guess that's everything I can remember from that show as a kid. Supermarket Sweep, like Double Dare, also had a companion show but more on that later.
Drenden whispered Nilima, maybe we can ask him one more question. "What happens if the teams are tied with the same Sweep Time"?
"What happens if the teams are tied with the same time?" Nilima asked.

Guild Owner: If 2 teams are tied with the same Sweep Time, then both Teams start the Big Sweep at the same time. If 3 teams are tied with the same Sweep Time, then all 3 teams start the Big Sweep at the same time. Oh and the announcer for the Pax Era of Supermarket Sweep was Randy West. As it gave away over $3 Million and over 1,750 people ran wild in the isles on that show.
Thank you for your time. It sounds like fun to see people turn a marketplace into a madhouse as they pull out $5,000 that's waiting to be won. We'll do it, once you make an OOC Game.
Guild Owner: Your welcome and remember, the next time someone is at a checkout and you hear the beep...
Guild Owner: ...Think of all the fun you'll have on...
Drenden, Eldin, Aedelyn & Dranor: SUPERMARKET SWEEP!!! Shall we head back to the IC, everyone?
