If you have a family member and would like to join this mostly informal, chaotic RP, please message Maho on Discord or Gaia.

I will throw in ponies here as they appear. (Ponies I am focusing on will show up here to start so I can keep track of who needs to appear.)

Couples present for ease of reference:
Destati x Niall = head of family. Parents of Sora, Delmaria Windrose, Destiny's Embrace, Way to the Dawn; grandparents of Rialto, Caramel Cookie Crunch Oblivion, and Stracciatella; great-grandparents of Skykomish and Chelan.
Destiny's Embrace x Arden = second gen, no kids yet; Arden is significantly older/wiser than Destiny and is closer to Niall's age.
Caramel Cookie Crunch Oblivion x Guillotine = third gen.
Ozette x Rialto = third gen, live slightly tucked away by a sea cave nearby.
Ismae x George = been through the wringer but totally dedicated, friends of the fam.

Single parents:
Kalypso raised Sephora Querida by herself without involvement by the other parent.
Delmaria Windrose, George, and Leith have co-parented with the parents of their children but are not romantically involved with the other parents.

Random facts:
Herod is a flirt who likes to stop in.
Kalypso received some assistance in parenting Sephora from Destati and Niall. Sephora and Delmaria grew up together.
Sephora visits often and sometimes relied upon the fam to help her with her kiddos. Roxana was raised alongside Skykomish and Destiny's Embrace; they were all born around the same time.
No one has ever met Panlong or Elentiya before, so their appearance will be met with great surprise.

Delmaria stood before the ocean, the breeze ruffling her mane. The warm day tempered by the playful wind struck a rare pensive chord within her as she mulled recent times. She had somehow become a grandmother to two little oddballs, though it really felt like more than that - her daughters had been born around the same time as her mother's newest babies. And her best friend, Sephora, had had three foals of her own in that time frame, as well.

Today, she felt a bit old. But that was okay. After all, she was the oldest of what was now six siblings, and she had somehow escaped being relied upon the most. She was okay with that. Her father had always that she had a little too much of the sea in her veins... She was perfectly fine avoiding passing on too much of that saltiness to the young ones.

As she stood in the sun, Delmaria laid her wings flat, parallel with her back. It was a lovely day for sunning, and with the waves washing over her hooves, she felt content.

Of course, that changed when she heard a squeal from behind her. As was her wont, Del's mood changed from fulfilled to irritated in barely a moment's breadth. Sighing, she turned around, dragging her tail fin through the water with her wings still splayed out. Damn it if she wasn't going to enjoy some sweet sensations while she watched whatever scene was about to play out in front of her.

Destati jumped back and let out an inadvertent squeak as she lifted a log with her muzzle and a crab crawled out from underneath it. The driftwood landed on the sand with a thunk as the crab scuttled away, and Destati audibly shuddered. Years of living on the beach and she still had not quite gotten used to crustaceans. Even barnacles spooked her sometimes, with their odd little tongues flicking about when the water lapped over them - and don't get her started on the clams that shot water out from beneath the sand. That just wasn't fair.

Calming her racing heart, Destati looked up and around. Del stood by the water's edge; her eldest daughter, who had looked in her direction, just rolled her eyes and turned back around. Niall always had a good laugh at the two of them; he claimed they were polar opposites. Del was unshakeable by fear and would never use her wings to fly from it, while Destati seemed to be spooked by the most mundane things and always jumped hard enough he thought she would sprout her wings from her back (finally).

Destati took a deep breath and shifted the log again, this time attempting to simply roll it. The driftwood encroached on their napping area - it happened occasionally with very high tides. The ocean would bring them its bounty, and she would have to organize some things. Thankfully, the driftwood had generally been pieces that were manageable by herself. There was sometimes the odd gigantic piece that required Niall (who was gigantic) or even further bodies to move it, though.

Scooting the driftwood out of the way, Destati stepped back to admire her handiwork. Fine yellow sand, smooth and almost as soft as a cloud, lay empty before her, ready for the next child who felt a nap in the sun was on their agenda. Or, she reminded herself, a nap in the shade - not everyone was as much of a sunbather as herself, and she had accounted for that with a shady spot on the beach where the sand met the trees. Smiling to herself, Destati plopped down at the edge of the space and leaned against the log.

Stepping out of the sawgrass and conifers at the forest's edge, Sora cringed as his hoof threw a bit of sand onto his mother's pristine canvas. He was the root of all her worries, as the only foal she had ever had who refused to comply with completely mundane requests all the time. Now, having had his own foals, he was amazed at just how terrible he had been - how on earth had she put up with him?

A divine amount of patience, he supposed.

Sora folded his legs beneath him and found a spot to lie comfortably near his mother. Though he and Vanilla lived very close by, he found that it surprised him how they only made it over to the beach somewhat often. He was not as completely attached to his parents as he had once been, sticking like glue to home. He was making a home with Vanilla, and he also had one here. It was nice to be cozy in more than one place, especially with his foals around (though that was not always the case these days).

"Enjoying the morning, Mother?" Sora asked of Destati, quirking curious brows in her direction.

Without even turning her head, the mare nodded; Sora detected a hint of a smile on her face. She was watching Del, the wondrous ocean child. He still didn't understand how she had happened, but that wild one had brought his parents together. Destati had found her basket, and Niall happened to be around; coincidentally, a family was formed. And it was a family he was grateful to be part of, especially with the way it was growing. There always seemed to be someone new around.

Leaning most of her weight against the sand-smoothed log, Destati nodded to her son's question. It had been a pleasant morning; it wasn't every day that she got to spend quiet time with her daughter without Niall around to distract her. Not that she minded his distractions, but it was nice to enjoy Delmaria's presence when it was just the two of them.

There had always been something about her eldest daughter. She was like the sea and the breeze as one, with a mercurial temper to match. The ocean had made its mark on her, with her fish-like traits and aquatic markings. But there were also parts of herself in her - in the vine markings she wore on her ankles and her tail. Destati had never fathomed how she had come to be; the spirits must have had something to do with it.

As she watched Del's mane float on the breeze, Destati picked up movement in the waves. It was subtle, like kelp floating beneath the surface of the water on a calm day, causing swirls and eddies. Squinting against the morning sunlight, Destati could barely make out the disturbance - and it appeared to be something brown. It seemed too solid to be kelp, but it could, perhaps, be driftwood.

"How are your little ones, Sora? Do they think they're grown up yet?" she asked her son, smirking at her recollection of her own foals. They had thought about growing up, but some of them had taken a while to manage it. Sora, particularly, had been stubborn.
