NPC or General Story Herds
Anyone in Mythikos can create an NPC Herd, or reference some sort of Herd that's meant solely for General Story and RP purposes. These types of herds are great for characters just starting out, or for players who want to test out ideas. NPC and Story Herds can be as large or as small as a person would like! Best of all, they don't really have any requirements or rules.

There is no requirement, RP obligations, or any minimums for an NPC or Story Herd. They can be used as backstories, you can obtain members, you can test out the culture, you can even make a plot page -- however, they are NPC so they do not get a subforum and they do not get pet perks.

Official Shop Herds
There are two types of Official Herds: one using standard shop lines (Standard Lined Herds) and one using custom shop lines (Custom Lined Herds). Generally speaking, both of the herds have similar rules, and both can obtain perks, but there are some differences!

Official Herd Rules & Requirements

Here are some general Herd Requirements that must be followed regardless if they are using Standard Lines or Custom Lines for Official Herds.

  • Every Herd must have a Herd Thread created in this Herd forum! While it's fine to brainstorm herd ideas in the plot thread, it will be considered an NPC Herd until an official herd Thread is created and completed in the Herd Forum! If you've created a plot page for your Herd, once it's ready to go, you'll want to transfer or copy the information in the Herd Page to this subforum!
  • The Herd Thread should have a list of information on the front page filled out with some general information. The information can be as long or as short as you need it to be, but it should be thorough so members know what the herd is like!
  • The Herd must have a Name
  • The Herd must have an Owner's / Members List that should be kept up-to-date or easily tracked for member verification.
  • Herd Leaders (both IC and OOCly) should be noted somewhere -- either in the Owner's List or in a separate area.
  • Herd Concept & Herd Culture and Beliefs should be somewhere on the front page, allowing customers to know what makes the herd unique
  • Herd Rules & Restrictions should let players know what is and isn't allowed and expected
  • Member Ranks should be listed so individuals know what's expected of their characters, and if there's any opportunity for growth or advancement
  • Joining the Herd, a place where information can be found for prospective new members
  • Leaving the Herd, information where individuals who wish to leave the herd can be found

This is just the general information that is useful for the shop to have, as well as future players.

Once this page is up and all the information is filled out, your herd is ready to go! We ask you try to keep this information updated to the best of your ability, and to obtain some herd perks, you will want to do so -- however, it is your herd and once it is created, the shop won't take it away or disband it unless you choose to break it up or disband it.

Standard Line Official Herds
Standard lined herds are free to form without question or issue. Anyone can make a Standard Herd, and they can be as large or as small as you'd like them to be. These herds can be made by anyone, and anyone who is eligible and willing to follow the herd history, restrictions, and lore can join. Members can be recruited via plot threads or games, breedings, semi-customs, and, if eligible, herd perks.

Standard Line Herds will only use the standard shop templates in terms of breedings. They don't get special, unique shop lines.

Standard Line Herd Rules

  1. You must have a filled out Herd Page in the Herd Subforum to make it an Official Herd.
  2. Anyone may leave a Standard Herd and/or have a loner begin a different herd without question
  3. Herds have no size limit
  4. Herds must abide by the rules of the shop but otherwise the originator of the herd has final say on the herd's traditions, customs, location, as well as any rules pertaining to the herd i.e. no one raised to be evil, no offspring kidnapped, etc.
  5. Individual players can't be told they aren't allowed to join if OOC drama exists. Even if a herd owner doesn't like a person specifically, they can't bar them from joining.
  6. Anyone part of a herd may have their character leave it regardless of an originator's rules or wishes--but any OOC and IC fallout or drama is yours to work out. Staff won't get involved if people have problems.
  7. IC Action = IC Consequence. Should your character (or OOCly a player) breaks a clear herd rule, the owners / herd leaders can kick out said characters.
  8. Staff are allowed to intervene if a herd breaks lore or canon -- as these aren't regulated you may need to change things if staff request it, even if it's something that's been seemingly allowed for some time. Chances are, we didn't notice or catch it. Hopefully, though, this won't be an issue.
  9. All members born into the herd will be on standard shop templates -- herd members may recruit more players, they may have their own Herd plot threads, they may have their own individual rules and traditions. Characters who breed in this herd and who intend to have the offspring raised in the herd will be granted offspring based on the general shop lines.
  10. Standard Herds require no participation to keep them alive unless they have obtained a subforum -- if they have obtained a subforum, there will be minimum activity requirements to keep it.
  11. Standard Herds reach certain activity and information thresholds, they can be entered for herd perks!

Custom Line Official Herds
Custom Lined Herds can only be won via contest, or through having a Standard Line Herd and obtaining the proper Herd Perk. Once obtained, anyone who is eligible and willing to follow the herd history, restrictions, and lore can join the herd. Members can be recruited via plot threads or games, breedings, semi-customs, and, if eligible, herd perks.

Standard Line Herds will only use the standard shop templates in terms of breedings. They don't get special, unique shop lines.

Custom Line Herd Rules

  1. You must have a filled out Herd Page in the Herd Subforum to make it an Official Herd.
  2. Anyone may leave a Custom Lined Herd and/or have a loner begin a different herd without question. However, members who leave or branch off do not retain the herd lines. Any offspring born outside of the Custom Lined Herd will be born on Standard Shop Lines.
  3. Custom Lined Herds have no size limit
  4. Custom Lined Herds must abide by the rules of the shop but otherwise the originator of the herd has final say on the herd's traditions, customs, location, as well as any rules pertaining to the herd i.e. no one raised to be evil, no offspring kidnapped, etc.
  9. All members born into the herd after obtaining the custom lines will be born only on those lines -- herd members may recruit more players, they may have their own Herd plot threads, they may have their own individual rules and traditions. Characters who breed in this herd and who intend to have the offspring raised in the herd will be granted offspring based on the Custom Shop Lines. Should the herd lose the lines, or members leave the herd, they will go back to using Custom Lines.
  10. Custom Lined Herds require some participation to keep the lines. If the Herd goes more than a year without a completed RP from the Herd Owner and have at least three additional fully completed RPs in a year by its members -- the shop has the right to take back the Custom Lines.
  11. The Year begins 12:01 AM January 01 through 11:59 PM December 31.
  12. Custom Lined Herds reach certain activity and information thresholds, they can be entered for herd perks!

Herd Perks

These are perks that various Official Herd Owners can obtain! Some of these perks require activity or upkeep to ensure they remain in place, but generally they are meant to be a perk granted to those who are active in the shop.

Obtaining a Subforum for a Standard Lined Herd
If you want your herd to earn a subforum please have the following ready to go and fill out our Herd Perk Thread. This is for Standard Lined Official Herds only -- Lined Herds will automatically receive a subforum as long as they keep the lines! If they lose the Custom lines, they will need to ensure they are following these rules to keep their subforum.

  • The Herd Page is Set up in the Herd Subforum
  • At least 5 Members that are not the Herd Owner(s) and are owned by at least 3 different players
  • There are at least 5 Completed RPs whose setting takes place in the Herd
  • Lastly, the Herd Owner(s) understand that if the subforum goes inactive with no RPs started and finished from at least one member between January 1 and December 31, the shop has the right to archive the threads and use the subforum for something else.

Losing a subforum does not mean the herd no longer exists. They just no longer have a personal subforum.
