Red Roses & Blue Roses

- These are a herd helper meant to flesh out Vidatyr's village in the Snaerblod lands. They may venture elsewhere but it should at least be their birthplace or some place they've come to that became home.
- It's a village near the border of Snaerblod tribe territory - Vidatyr and his warriors guard the border in his half sister's (Yrsa's) name.
- They aren't meant to be Snaerblod by blood, but they are Dragonbears and so could be cousins (or niblings) from another family or something similar. Vidatyr and his husband could adopt them. They would, just ask.
- They also don't have to be directly siblings to each other if folks don't wish it.
- Their role in the village isn't set. However, even for non warrior types it is safe to assume that they've a least some battle training if only to defend themselves to the best of their abilities.
- For naming, most in the village would have Norse (or at least Norse sounding) names. It is not unheard of for those that come to live from outside the region to adopt a fitting name or surname. Vidatyr might also give them a nickname, he does that sometimes.

Vidatyr is the village leader and he takes that duty seriously - it is his pride and honor to do this duty in his sister's name. Regardless of whether that means battle or more common causes. He joins in the community work to ensure everyone's needs are amply met and their health and safety is assured. Those with little or no family style him as Father or Brother and he's stood in ceremony for many when they would have no one else. He has a big heart and even bigger shoulders if anyone needs comfort. And he also loves to play with young foals and encourage their skills.

He considers himself to be very fortunate to have found a wonderful mate - his Heart, Orielath. Their star wish granted them Askr, a young warrior in his own right. (He hopes that one day there might be many more children as that is his and his love's dearest desire.)










Orielath's travels brought him to the mountains and promptly got him lost once the snow had begun to fall in ernest. He found himself corned by a predator the likes of which he'd never seen. A warrior he did not see until he lunged cut the creature off and killed it before it could do him any harm. That was the first time he saw Vidatyr and he was in awe of the sight. He followed him back to his village and by the next turn of the season he found himself not wishing to be parted from Vidatyr again. (He likens it to the love and devotion his parents have for one another - and for him to find that for himself was a dream come true.)

Unused to the cold as of yet he's spent most of the Winter indoors, largely looking after Askr and helping his young son with his lessons. But now with Spring on the horizon he'll be able to branch out more find his place in the community. He'll be assisting Vidatyr with his duties as well as taking up handicrafts of some kind maybe?

He's a gentle, warm and kind soul who is a bit run ragged these days because of Askr's energy. But he wouldn't change a minute of it for anything.

Brief Personality: Ujarak, meaning like a rock, prides himself on being steadfast, sturdy and sometimes even stone cold. His exterior is gruff and he's fought enough to excel in battle to protect his tribe and those he loves, even if it means giving his life. He comes off as distant at times but usually its because his mind is turning, processing and calculating whatever info needs to be calculated. He has a soft spot for foals yet at the same time would love to train them to grow up proud and strong.

Brief Personality: Once a scrawny, half-starved foal, Gunnvaldr was adopted by Vidatyr and Orielath at a young age and will forever carry their kindness in his heart. Though he is an imposing, impressive brute of a stallion, Gunnvaldr possesses a warm and gentle soul. He is often boisterous and loud, but never cruel. He feels things very deeply, and his tender heart is often moved by tales of romance and tragedy alike. Make no mistake that his easy, affectionate nature makes him weak, however. Though Gunnvaldr would normally never hurt a fly, he lends his strength as a warrior to help protect his village and his family. How could he not? Much better to have his own blood spilled if it means keeping those he loves more than life safe.

Brief Personality: Xeven will sell his services as a bodyguard. He's very smart, and makes sure to deduce any possible threats before a job and find the best way to protect his charges. As such, he's extremely observant. (+10 to Perception!) He's also very fond of conversation, and will very willingly and happily talk the ear off of his charge(s) about his family, the village, and other jobs he's done. This doesn't mean he's liable to give up secrets, however, he is *very* good at keeping secrets close to the vest, as it were.

Brief Personality: Not exactly the sharpest axe in the smithy, Sigurd makes up for in spirit what he lacks in brains. He's always the first to volunteer for any hard work that needs doing, and the first to take up arms against enemies, his proficiency and grace in battle making up for his shortcomings. Even though he isn't terribly bright, he never complains when asked to do a task, and always tries his best.

Brief Personality: Rothgar spends a lot of time patrolling out where hardly a soul can be found. He likes to joke around and make friends, so sometimes he can be found talking to a bird or a deer rather than to himself. He seems to forget that he enjoys people's company too, and coming back in from the cold may seem aloof or awkward until he can "warm up" a bit. Then he's joking with other soquili like his birdfriend outside. The here and now is what fun-loving Rothgar focuses on to enjoy his life. He sees the positive and tries to lighten the lives of those around him with his crooked smile and straightforward but positive words. He would not make a good leader despite his charisma because his gaze is not aimed at the future and his mind isn't technical and tactical. He would rather see that people suffer a lot less when pain and suffering will happen no matter what. Some people are good at preventing some of it, but he's better at coping with and adapting to Right Now.

Brief Personality: A craftsman at heart, Anundr can find the beauty hidden in any object. With surprisingly deft claws, he'll do his best to shape anything into a new trinket, a new tool, a toy a foal might like, something to decorate somebody with. He doesn't necessarily show it, being very slow to smile, but when somebody enjoys something he's made for them, he feels a sense of pride at a job well done. When he does smile, it's a moment one might want to treasure, as they've brought the stern Anundr to a moment of pure joy.

Brief Personality:
Eirik is obedient in his duty to the tribe. He is a proud protector and when on patrol there is nothing that can sway him from the safety of the herd. He understands the importance of his role and does not allow his "off the clock" tendencies to disrupt this. He often does not say much and keeps to himself.... until his patrol is over. Then Eirik can be found chatting up the prettiest thing in the area. He is not one the deny himself attention or conversation or anything tasty to eat. When Eirik can relax, he is a bit of a flirt and a glutton. For him this is his "treat" for putting her well being of the tribe before his needs most of the day, and this is just another side of the same coin as his dutiful personality.

Brief Personality: Vali is a warrior who lives by the warrior’s code. He upholds the three virtues of the warrior- honor, loyalty, and respect. In his eyes, to neglect any one of the three is to denounce the way of the warrior and to bring shame. Vali holds all three virtues in high regard, but considers honor to be chief among them. And the thing that will bring the greatest honor to him? Dying in combat. To die in glorious battle is one of his most treasured dreams. He trains for it, prepares for it, almost yearns for it. Not that he wishes an early death on himself. He merely wants to go out in a blaze of glory. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to live. In fact, because his acknowledgement and acceptance of death allows him to cherish his life. Vali knows how to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. He’s thankful for every moment he has, and he lives his life with no regrets.

Brief Personality: Njal is a large beast of a dragonbear, who is well trained as a warrior as well as a hunter. While he can often be found assisting the village in whatever is needed, his most favorite pastimes are hunting, followed by eating. Though he is fierce and dedicated to serving, Njal is a bit of a glutton, and would feast day after day if he could. He is a capable hunter -- provided he doesn't gobble up the meal before bringing it back to camp first! Needless to say, it's best he hunts in packs or with others, if only to keep his paws off the game. When not hunting, or eating, Njal is happy to throw his weight and size against any enemies of the village, or to be posted as a guard. Sociable, friendly, and good-natured, Njal's a good-humored sort, ready to do what's right, and not afraid to get his claws dirty for the sake of the village.

Brief Personality: When Svienn was growing up he wanted nothing more than to be like the warriors of old and earn glory in the face of battle. However, his is a cautionary tale amongst the herd of what hubris can bring. A traumatic injury during training as Svienn went against the advice of his teacher led to a spinal injury that left him disabled for the rest of his life.

Svienn now lives with the shame and self-exiled himself from everyday life from the herd where he took up the arts of the craft to earn himself a living and to fashion braces for his legs to allow better mobility. He's now known as the large mysteriously quiet Frimager that makes uniquely beautiful trinkets that seem odd for such an intimidating figure to produce. Svienn leaves a very lonely life but one he feels he deserves after the shame he brought upon himself and his family name. He strives every day to bring color into a world that to him he feels he doesn't deserve to enjoy.

Brief Personality: Tyr is the silent type most of the time when it is times of peace. But if there is something that needs to be done he is the one to go to. Given what his name means well that is a bit of a cover up. He really isn't an angel or from the stars unless deals with mares or the young. In times of war, protection, and teaching he is headstrong and sit in the ways of the herd. He takes those things to heart and doesn't give in. They are things he believes that needs to be done right.

His actions always speak louder then he does but that doesn't mean that he doesn't talk at all. Because he does when it is needed.

Brief Personality:
Trygve: More than anything Trygve loves his brothers and his herd. More than his weapons, more than even battle itself. He strives above all to be worthy of the honor placed upon him by being allowed to protect the herd. His fondest hope is to one day be found worthy enough to be allowed to train the young Drengs. To have a hand in teaching the next generation of warriors to protect themselves and their people is the greatest gift he could think of.

Hallbjörn: Hal has little use for anyone, not a warrior. He lives for the thrill of the fight and the song of battle in his blood. He is prone to throwing his size around when it comes to outsiders, more than willing to use violence to get his point across. To the herd itself, he is gruff and short-tempered but keeps his rage in check.

Brief Personality:

When the ground is cold and the soil below empty and barren, life on the mountains is hard. There is no place for weakness, only strength. Strength that has been earned through years of honing. Flóki has spent his life cultivating exactly that. Inch by inch he has taken the fibres of weakness and peeled them away, one by one. Nerves to be replaced by excitement. Fear to steel. From flimsy foal to formidable warrior. But it has not been an easy road, and it is not without cost. He was never the quickest, nor the bravest of foals. But he knew he had to be. To survive. Hard work was his achievement, and with that laser focus came the inability to relax. He has little time for social endeavours, always feeling just that bit the outsider. That niggling voice in the back of his mind focusing him on his next task, his next bit of training. For he fears that should he lapse for even a moment, all that weakness will come rushing right back in. And though he takes strength and comfort from his brothers-in-arms, as all must do in such a tribe, he is never as light nor as boisterous as they are. Never as quick to join the celebrations following a victory. He is a honed weapon, but one that always needs to have a purpose.
