The night had been eventful to say the least. There had been the confrontation with the Lasombra. That one had been cut short by the Prince’s meddling. A Tremere with a sudden bloody nose. And an Assamite with probably a few broken ribs. The last one was the one that had gotten her thrown out. Rocky wasn’t meant for parties. Why she had even come was beyond her. But now she was stalking about outside. Waiting to full fill an unspoken promise to kick that Lasombra’s a**. The vampire made her fur stand on end. Rocky’s tail looking fluffier than usual as she seethed. Fists clenched. Golden claws digging into her palms. Oh, this was far from over. It had felt as if a nice bit of meat had been wrenched from her jaws and she was foaming at the mouth to get it back. Obviously her off switch had been broken. But then once the Gangrel got into this state it was very, very hard to come back from. At least, until the beast was satisfied. But at this point running her claws and her teeth through anything’s flesh and fur would do. The irritation and malcontent rolled off her in waves. She had found a large boulder that could give her a better vantage point of the front door. And so she had clambered on top of it. Laying flat on her belly. Gold eyes staring intently at the door as the tip of her tail flicked back and forth rhythmically.

A raised brow and a low, well more of a growl than a chuckle, were the only actions from the Elder as the Lasombra made her smart getaway. He watched her disappear into the crowd. Either they'd be seeing her again soon or she really would be smart and vanish. However graceful an air she’d tried to maintain he knew there was relief in the Prince halting the fray. <******** Camarilla and their rules. Unfortunately, the Gangrel were still a collared dog under Camarilla law. And until a change was made, which couldn’t be made by a couple of members at a party, they had no choice but to listen. Tell any Gangrel that, hell even say it to him, and you’d likely lose teeth. But it was the truth. However, outside was another story. Outside it was easier to forget the rules and be a Gangrel. He knew Rocky had already taken off. The minute the Lasombra bolted she’d pretty much vanished. He knew she could take care of herself, but hunting was far more exciting together than alone... most of the time anyway.
Kale brushed past the throng of guests, eager to get out of the stifling room and into the cold night air. His wings twitched, as if stretching slightly, but he was really using them to knock some partygoers out of his way. A smirk raised the corner of his mouth, the guests who turned to chastise him turned away quickly as his feral eyes found them. As he burst through the doors, he extended his wings and shook his head. His thick pelt shifting with the motion, as though shaking free the remnants of the cloying event. He inhaled deeply the fresh, chilly, evening. Fur ruffled, much like feathers, before relaxing again. Ah, what a gorgeous night for a bloodbath.
That sharp, vicious, grin glinted in the night. Now, where was the puffball? Scanning the area, he spotted a form that seemed out of place. A rock that was a little... oddly shaped. A quick crouch and he thrust himself into the air, his large wings snapping open to catch the wind as he sailed across the grass. The rough call of a few crows began to echo from deep within the forest line. Every time. The little bastards always knew. Honestly, he didn’t mind. It was likely part kinship and part he was their meal ticket. Wherever he went a meal wasn’t far behind. With a quick tuck of the wings and a springy landing on the grass he’d arrived. His expression slightly smug as he regarded her. “So, you just gonna skulk around on a rock all night like a slug or are we going to find ourselves a little treat?”

She had waited. And waited. Anne ********. The Lasombra must have slipped out some other way. No surprise there honestly. What a coward. Couldn’t even finish a fight. She had spotted Kale the second he’d burst from the crowd. Though she had expected him to simply take off. Well he did in a sense but not in the direction opposite of her. He came sailing right in her direction. Nice he landed she sighed. A bit discouraged that she wouldn’t get to beat the shot out of the Lasombra who just smelt so….off. It fired up her blood. Rolling off the boulder she landed on all fours before standing to her full height and straightening out her jacket. A glint in her eye from the mention of finding themselves a treat. She quickly cleared the distance and wrapped an arm around his neck with a toothy grin. “******** the Lasombra then. It’s been a minute since the last time we hunted together.” Her voice was rough and gravely with a small bit of silliness behind it. Like a tumbled stone just halfway to being completely smooth It hadn’t been that long, every now and again they had gotten together to hunt and bond. Any other pair of Gangrel couldn’t be closer. She had spent most of the time away from Kale raising Rabble but now she was gone. Off to find her own place in the world and most of Rocky’s time was spent alone. But the time she spent with Kale she enjoyed. Though she would never admit it less he say something smartassish. Which he would. Her cat like eyes shimmered in the moonlight. “Anything in particular you in the mood for or just anything at random?” Leaning her head against his she gave the air a sniff to see if there might be anything of interest nearby.

His gaze followed the other Gangrel as she dismounted the Boulder. The jingling sound of the zipper on her jacket causing an ear to swivel. Rocky was probably the Gangrel he trusted most, they'd been through some scraps together. Fun and serious. But he knew he could count on her and in their world that meant something. The large male chuckled as he felt the arm slip around his neck, he wouldn't stand upright and lift her off the ground, even if he knew it would have been hilarious. She'd probably kick him in the nuts if he did that. Not that a nutshot would hurt him. That was mortal s**t. The wind picked up a bit, sending a strong gust barreling over the field. He felt his thick pelt being tousled and finally stood completely upright, giving a long, satisfying stretch.. those wicked talons clicking together ominously.
The weight of her head against his body illicited a smirk, and Kale glanced down at his companion. His claws burrowing into her poofy hair to mess it up a bit. If one could honestly tell he'd touched it to begin with. "Hmm, four legs or two?" He wanted blood, he didn't care if it was an animal or a Kat. He felt the Beast stir in his belly and it was beginning to cause his personality to shift into gruffer, more predatory, territory. Even his muscles twitched in response as he thought of a fresh feed. The real question was if they wanted to play with their food and how. He scented the breeze in the direction she'd been looking but he didn't pick up anything particularly interesting. Nothing to hold his attention anyway. The night felt both dead and alive at the same time and in the distance he caught a hint of rain. Coming their way? It felt likely.
His wings opened wide before they shook and refolded behind him. In the trees the crows had begun to gather. Watching. Waiting. Knowing soon they too would have full bellies. He regarded them in an offhand manner, his luminous gaze searching every branch to try and count them. But it was an impossible task as more and more began to infiltrate the treeline. How long since his last frenzy? Two years? Three? Maybe even four. What had caused it was a little fuzzier. It had something to do with Alka. That much he remembered. At the thought of Alka, Kale's demeanor changed faintly but it was so guarded that determining his reason would have been nearly impossible. He looked away from the Ravens... they seemed to be bringing memories he'd rather let lie for now. It was time to hunt.. not think of her.

Rocky grumbled a threat, a low cat like growling sound before hissing as she barely felt him ruffle her hair. He was always making jokes about her hair. The jerk. She liked her hair. As he finally stood to his full height she dropped to the ground gracefully before he could pull her all the way up and begin with the jokes again. Just cause he was a big lug. But she had to admire his size and his strength. It was very easy to appreciate standing back at a distance. Had he been lesser she probably wouldn’t even look his way. Her gazed changed directions as she took a few steps forward. “Oh lady’s choice then? What a gentleman. What Ventrue finishing school did his Sir’ness go to again?” Cat eyes peered far off into the distance. “Guess you will just have to find out.” She smirked before taking off with a caterwaul. Changing from two legs to four as she moved across the ground. Two legs was fine if you wanted to get around but four legs were for hunting. Her pace was quick but steady. Giving him enough time to catch up in the beginning but soon that consideration was gone. She knew he could keep up, they had done this many times before. The Beast inside coming to the forefront as she caught the scent trail of what she had spotted before: she plunged into high grass, her pace never slowing as she made her way through.

Kale knew it bugged her. Him messing with her hair. That’s what made it even better. He chuckled darkly as he listened to her, only stopping to furrow his brow at the Ventrue comment. Oh, she’d pay for that one. He’d think of some way to get her back, but it wasn’t going to be a rush job. Watching her take off he stretched his limbs and snapped his wings out quickly before tucking them behind him as tightly as possible. He didn’t always fly. Sometimes he liked a good old-fashioned run. Shooting off after her he felt the power behind his muscles begin to warm up. The earth yielding beneath his claws as he shredded it.
He wasn’t sure what she was after but that made it even more exciting. The unknown. Not knowing the level of challenge they’d be facing. He hadn’t felt this awake in a while. In tune with his beast instead of fighting it. He’d need to feed soon, he could feel it, the whisper in his belly. But it was just a whisper. A friendly reminder that there’d be a demand eventually. And if he was a slave to anything it was his beast. He’d lost his fight with it more than once. Anyone could see that. He shook his head, bad memories, close calls, he tried to be more mindful of his needs. But sometimes things were simply beyond your control.
Rocky was fast, he’d almost forgotten how fast, but he was steadily gaining on her. Using his strength to propel himself across the trail and into the high grass. He could see her ahead now, still a decent gap between them. But he was closing in. The light of the moon briefly illuminated his eyes off and on like a demon, but it was simply the eye sheen all predators possessed. His ears swiveled this way and that trying to catch a sound, his sense of smell working hard to try and figure out what she was after, but to no avail. Where were they headed?

She switched, this way and that. Claws kicking up dirt as she ran. Eyes hyper focused on the target ahead. It was barely visible but Rocky could just see it’s outline. Her eyes were good for that. A young buck out for a nibble stood in the shadows of the trees in the distance. It wasn’t long before long grass turned into tree line and Rocky plunged into the underbrush. Silent and stealthy. The Gangrel’a tail tucked in so as not to brush against anything and alert it to her presence. This would be easy, she would move around to where she was upwind of it and let it catch her scent, maybe even see her, and then she would drive it back towards Kale. An easy hunting trick but whatever. She t least hoped he could see what she was doing. Rocky’s pace slowed and she stalked around in a circle to the left. Each paw placed softly and deliberately. The forest grew deathly silent. Not even a bird made a sound. A second before it happened the deer lifted its head from its food and looked around. Flicking an ear. Rocky sprung from the bushes on n the other side of the deer. At the exact same time something large and black did as ********…” Was the only word she could get out as realization set in. Her eyes grew wide. Where had it come from? She hadn’t smelt it and usually they were REALLY easy to smell. It landed on the deer’s back, breaking it’s spine. Long fangs glistened in the moonlight as it swung an arm out and caught Rocky in the chest sending her flying back among the bushes and trees she had just kept from. Landing hard somewhere off I the distance. The werewolf howled and raked dagger claws through the deer’s flesh. Ripping and tearing chunks of meat from the animal’s form. Feeding with very little abandon.

Kale was hot on Rocky’s trail and when her demeanor changed suddenly he knew she’d spotted something up ahead. Grinding his forward motion to a halt he crouched, stalking up along behind her and then peeling off to the left in case the deer startled. That way it would run straight at him and he could nab it. However, he had a feeling Rocky would be quick enough to make his plan unnecessary. His eyes glowed in the darkness, hyper-focused on the prey. And as she began the charge his entire body almost convulsed as the beast within recoiled. A scent, something familiar and horrifying, filled his senses and overwhelmed him. He couldn’t move. Frozen to the spot, he felt himself nearing frenzy at just the smell of it. Right before the Werewolf landed on the prey, he’d heard a thwack and realization spread through him like wildfire. Rocky.
He snapped out of his catatonia and silently, staying downwind of the predator, circled around as fast as he could. Every muscle in his body screamed to run full out, to move faster than he was now, but he knew the cost. If she were injured badly, and the Werewolf focused on them, they’d be in deep s**t. Vampires were strong but they had good reason to fear Werewolves. And he’d had enough run-ins with them that he avoided a fight at all costs. He wasn’t stupid. The stress from these encounters had a history of making him frenzy and he was not prepared to lose control of the beast. It was a toll he didn’t want to pay, not so soon after the last.
He made it to the other side and began to search for her, silently. He moved like a shadow, his paws making no sound as he stalked through the darkness. Those eyes flashed brightly, searching everywhere, trying to find his clan mate so they could get the hell out of there as fast as possible. If she were injured he could fly them out with no problem, but he had to find her before the Werewolf realized what it was he’d smacked into the trees. Because once it realized there were vamps the meal it was currently eating would play second fiddle to the desire to find and tear them apart.

Somehow Rocky had somehow survived mostly unscathed.
Except for a whole bunch of cuts, her chest was probably bruised as it hurt to move and her arm was dangling at her side. Great. That meant either her shoulder was broken or dislocated.
She had awoken in a weird place that had a dirt roof and roots that twined through it. It must have been perhaps a bear den. It smelt like bear. And fox. It didn’t surprise her that this was here. What did surprise her was at how acurartly she had been whacked into it.
Standing she winced at her arm, dirt and rocks fell from her coat. Her orange hair that was normally rather vertical had gotten wet and hung doen around her face, plastered to her fur. She looked like a right mess.
Rocky took tentative steps around the den, looking up towards a hole in the ceiling that was almost shaped like her. She must have hit the existing hole and demolished it. Which explained why her shoulder was obliterated. She sighed. Unsure if she would be able to climb out on her own.

Kale scoured the grounds, covering as much space as he could. He hadn’t heard exactly what direction she’d flown in but he had a good idea given the direction she was headed going towards the deer and the position the Werewolf had come from. Using his sensitive sense of smell he closed his eyes, and breathed in deep, his ears swiveling this way and that to make sure he wasn’t ambushed in case the Werewolf had become aware of them. Hopefully, it was drowning in fresh blood and unable to smell anything else. His luminous eyes darted this way and that, looking for signs she’d crashed through this way but so far he didn’t see anything.. then he caught a scent. There she was.
Veering in the direction the scent was coming from Kale practically darted, still keeping as silent as possible, toward his clan mate. If she were dead.. no. He wasn’t going to go there. He had to keep himself calm. Though if it did turn out to be the worst he wasn’t going to be able to force the beast back. He felt responsible somehow. How did he not smell it? He could usually smell them from a mile away. The wind had even been favorable. It was like it had come from literal nothingness. That thought unnerved him even more.
The scent grew stronger and he knew he was closing in. A couple other scents piggybacked on the wind. Bear… and fox? Strange. A fox was no problem. A bear could be a decent challenge but not as concerning as the monster devouring the deer behind them. As he closed in his eyes searched meticulously for her landing spot. There! The ground was punctured clean through, it looked like she’d hit the spot with an impressive amount of force, which likely meant she was hurt. Kale’s face appeared up top, gaze searching the darkness as he peered into the hole. “Rocky?” He whispered, keeping his voice as quiet as possible but loud enough that she'd be able to hear him.

There was rustling up top and Rocky was sure it was the werewolf. It sounded big enough anyway. Crouching low she kept still. Her golden cat like gaze focused on the hole. Claws in her good hand extended, ready to shred it’s face the second t poked through.
And then suddenly Kale was there.
She let out a sigh and stood. “Down here.” She didn’t whisper but she wasn’t going to announce where they were. To say the least she was MUCH happier it was Kale than the Werewolf. Kale was a big lug but that werewolf was probably twice his size and four times as big as Rocky.
She brushed aside straight orange hair ther hung in her face still rather wet. The Gangrel almosr looked like a wer cat. “Did you see the size of that thing? They are getting bigger…” Rocky had come across a werewolf not so long ago that was maybe half the size. She had watched it for a few days to make sure it was moving on.

As he spotted her, gazing up at him from deep in the hole, the Gangrel sighed. Good. She wasnt dead at least. She also didnt look fantastic either. He could tell she'd been injured somewhere. As her voice rang out he involuntarily winced and looked up over his shoulder, listening for a few minutes to make sure they hadnt been heard. Kale turned back amd nodded gravely. He'd definitely seen it. The thing was gigantic. Probably one of the biggest he'd ever seen. And that alone was enough to make his blood go ice cold.
The talons on his back paws dug into the earth as he leaned down, trying to reach her, arms outstretched. "Can you climb up or are you hurt too badly?" His voice was still quiet, barely above a whisper. Golden eyes practically glowing in the dark as he tried to take in the damage. It was hard to really tell. She was kind of a mess. He would have made fun of her but this wasn't the time. He'd temporarily lost his sense of humor. Replaced instead by the powerful desire to get the ******** out of there as soon as possible. He'd fought Werewolves before... he wasn't sure he would be able to tackle this one and make it out in one piece. The uptick in Werewolves lately was already a concern. But the increase in size as well? What exactly was going on with the Werewolves? He wasn't sure he really wanted to know.

Rocky moved closer to where he was. Climbing up into a boulder she reached for his hands but of course being short in stature had its disadvantages and her fingers missed his by a mile. She frowned and sighed. Oh to be big and tall. Then maybe the fellas would notice her.
“I don’t think so can get any closer.” Her voice was hushed just a little.
But her back went suddenly ridged as a foul smell wafted through the opening. This time Rocky knew exactly what it was. The ducking werewolf was close and here Kale was with his head stuck in a hole. His a** end vulnerable. “I think we have company.” She hissed and jumped down from the rock. Her gold eyes scanned the hole. She hated to hide but as it was if they were confronted by the werewolf she would probably be roast with her broken shoulder.

The fur along Kale's spine stood on end, his pupils narrowed suddenly in fear as he smelled it. The Werewolf. He caught the scent after she'd whispered her warning. ******** the thing was onto them. He quickly slipped into the hole after her, flexing his wings and stretching them out a bit to soften his blow. They didn't both need to snap anything. Kale quickly approached his clan mate and looked her over. "Is there somewhere we can hide in here or.. maybe I can fly us out." He looked around, measuring, but it was too narrow for him to get enough lift to carry them both out. He'd hit his wings on too much debris going back up, too many roots.
He quickly scanned their surroundings, hoping for some small miracle of an escape. It looked like... yes. Maybe an alcove? Hopefully, it was deeper than it looked. He gently nudged Rocky and pointed over to the slice in the roots and the wall, it was easy to miss if you didn't look carefully. "Let's try that.." He was big, but he'd suck it in and squeeze in if he had to. "You go first." It wasn't out of fear. He just wasn't about to let her be the first thing the Werewolf grabbed if it found them.

Rocky shook her head. Her wet hair had partially dried out by now but still had no regained its rather poorly quality. “Flying is no good we’re under a tree.” The root system above them was thick and allowed no light to deep into the cave.
Maybe it was the adrenaline from the thought that maybe they would not make it out of here alive. Or maybe it was the adrenaline from the pain of a broken arm. Who could really say in this situation.
Golden cat eyes narrowed at the little hole in the wall. If there was enough space on the other side maybe they could both just hide it out. She sure as s**t didn’t need to be told twice. Making her way over to it Rocky easily slipped through. Being smaller made those sorts of this possible. “Come on it will be tight but there should be enough room for you too.” She whispered loud enough for him to hear but hopefully quiet enough that the werewolf didn’t hear them
Leaves and branches began to fall in through the hole as the monster lingered around the hole. Sniffing the ground and the air.
