It had been an odd feeling. All that time ago there had been a shift in….something. Jack wasn’t sure exactly what it was but she knew it meant big things were coming. Her sisters didn’t care all too much. In fact.. They cared very little at all. She had gone to Caine’s temple. It was gone. Where Caine and Lilith were now she had very little idea. She thought of the gardens, more of Lilith than she had of Caine. Lilith was kind where Caine was not. No matter what you did for him it was never enough and it hadn’t been long after he had taken her that he had cast her out. One of many he cast out. But now the air tasted different and even the lights of the cities looked different as if her senses were dulled and it wasn’t long before she left the cities and began to wander the wastelands. White fur brown from dust that cling to her pelt. Jack didn’t know where she was going she just knew she had to go somewhere.

A soft breeze snaked through the wasteland, as if on a mission, it found Jack soon after and swirled from her feet up through her hair. 'Jack..' A soft voice echoed. Easy enough to mistake for a trick of the Wasteland. So eerie and empty and vast.
The stars above shone brightly, emboldened by a lack of moon, though for a creature born in darkness it would be simple to find your way. Somewhere in the distance a howl pierced the night. Lonely. The breeze left, striking off toward the mountain in the distance. Pulling at her gently as if to say 'follow me'.

It was an odd sensation to say the least.
The breeze began at her feet, ruffling her pure white fur until it stirred up her long blonde hair. The voice that whispered her bame sent goosebumps along her skin. Part of her now was apr henwive. Like mayb e she should turn back but something about the voice beckoning Ned her. Urged her to continue forward towards the mountain. Was it there she was supposed to be?
Wrapping her arms around herself Jack shivered and then began to walk towards the mountain. It didn’t take her too long to arrive and when she did she felt a bit uneasy but also at home: it was strange the duality of her feelings. Like a warning bell going off in the back of her brain but something else to her it would be alright:

The breeze nudged and gently warmed her as she went along her way, the air only growing colder if she strayed from her path, otherwise it guided and kept the chill from her. Not that an undead creature had to worry about the chill. The mountain loomed ahead, as if it had suddenly leapt close, the opening like a maw and warm light spilled out from within.
It called to her, sang to her blood. Someone was waiting for her inside. A shadow in the entrance, her long red hair ornately decorated with gold and those eyes, like burning embers filled with nothing but warmth. Lilith waited for the little Daughter to come.

When she reached the mouth of the cave pale blue eyes squinted. Trying to peer into the darkness. And barely making out the shadowed figure inside. The shape seemed familiar but they were smaller now than they had remembered. Or she was larger than she had been the last time. Jack was unsure. Taking a deep breath as if she were to plunge head first into a pool of water. Though it was warm and inviting. Singing songs to her blood that she remembered from so long ago. Before he came and took her. And then left her when he was done. Standing up straighter she twisted one of her tendrils nervously. “M-mama?” At first she whispered it. Unsure if the name fit the creature in-front of her. It was Lilith wasn’t it? “Mama it’s me Jack.” She took a tentative step forward. It had been so long. So very very long. She had left Caine’a temple when Grendel leveled it. Jack had not known if any of her sisters had made it out, or if Lilith had. Jack waited quietly. Trying to shrink as small as she could.

Lilith watched Jack serenely from inside the cave. As the word "Mama." Drifted to her on the breeze Lilith felt her chest tighten. There was a wound there. The Daughters had been another insult of Caine against his children, and ultimately her, duplicating his favorite and leaving the others to scramble for approval or anything but cruelty. But she didn't fault the Daughters themselves for the whims of a buried Deity. Only what they did with their unlives now that he was gone. As Jack's face appeared in the cave Lilith smiled at her. Jack had been such a beautiful child and she had grown into her beauty fittingly. One could argue that being a clone all of them were beautiful but it wasn't just the outside she was seeing.
She felt another stab of pain as Jack called to her again, deep in her chest, an ache that would never heal completely. Seeing Kindred so deeply etched into this unique soul caused her anger to bubble and that ember glow briefly flashed within her eyes. So much lost. So much stolen. It was exhausting and the recovery was brutal. But she endured.. she always endured. "Jack.." She whispered, her arms raising out to the Daughter to take her into them. "Sweet childe look at you.. you've grown." She smiled. Bittersweet.

When Caine had taken Jack from Lilith she had still been really small. Well, even now she felt small inside this cave. Not quite as cut throat as some of her other sisters she had avoided the majority of them all out. Jack had never had a stomach for that brutality and the clothes that she wore rarely ever felt like her own. Caine had had a vision for her and when she didn’t fit that ideal he tossed her aside and moved onto another. She had watched this happen many times over. Too shy to approach those younger to see if they might need help. Unlike the cold shoulder her older sisters afforded her. Jack’s head turned quickly as she heard the whisper and saw the outstretched arms. “Mama!” She ran for her, nearly lept into her arms with happiness. While Lilith may not have birthed her in the conventional sense she was still her mother to her. The only one in Caine’s world who genuinely seemed to care. And memories of the last time she had been with Lilith came flooding back. They had been in one of Lilith’s gardens. The Dark Mother tending roses while Jack played nearby. Shadows had come. Darkness. He had come suddenly that day and taken her away. She was not Lilith’s to dote on he had said. And then the shaping had begun. Jack wrapped her arms around Lilith tight. Burying her face in her chest as quiet sobs shook her shoulders.

The loose curls of her fiery hair swayed gently as Jack ran into her arms, the bits of golden ornamentation that adorned those vivid locks glinting in the light of the torches illuminating the entrance. Lilith pressed her cheek to the top of the other females head and stroked her hair lovingly. Her voice soothing as she spoke, eyes closed, soaking in the moment, savoring the warmth of the reunion. "It's all right, childe. It's ok." Her claws brushed the hair from Jack's face and tucked it gently behind her ear, the soft pad of her thumb carrying a tear from her cheek.
She remembered that day as well. The last day she'd seen Jack before he'd come to claim her. The garden was beautiful then, lush. Jack happily playing beside her. The memory of her, so small and precious, so much like Kindred as a baby, it broke her heart. Lilith had been so lonely in those days, the continued loss of each child taking its toll, digging a hole further and further into her heart. Unable to form those deeply rooted bonds she wanted so desperately to form. If she hadn't loved her children it would have been easy to let them go, but she had.
She had loved them all so strongly, so fiercely, which was why the wounds never healed. She imparted what she could before they were gone, forever stolen from her, but did they even remember? Grendel had lost so much of his memory of her, and she'd had him the longest. She hadn't dared hope the others even remembered her at all until Jack had come, seeking. In her mind they'd always been too young, not ready for the expectations. She felt the heat of her anger raise its head, like a hot flash of lightning.
Her children were not disposable pawns in a sick game. The fact that... well, the fact that he had used her and her essence was an insult. That it had been done at all was enough to stoke the fires of her rage. It was all still so dark in her memory, so many waking nightmares that blended together or presented in fractured pieces. She wondered if she would ever see it all clearly. Yet here was a sliver of beauty amidst the shards of sadness. Here in her arms. "It will be all right, my love. Let's go inside. You must be thirsty after traveling. How far did you wander before you found me?"

Jack sniffed as a soft purr rumbled in her chest. Yes, this is what she had been looking for. Someone to just hold her and tell her everything was going to be alright. She wiped at her cheeks and rubbed her eyes with the palms of her hands. Nodding at Lilith’s suggestion that they go outside. “I don’t know. It was a long way from Caine’s temple and I am sure I got lost many times.” Jack had never really left the temple much like the others did so she had no direction of the world. She knew the sun set west and rose in the east but that was about as far as she could get. “Everyone is gone from the temple now. Why are you so far out here?” It was a long journey. Lilith obviously had wanted seclusion if she was this far out into the Wastelands. “Grendel is the God now.” Jack had actually been quite impressed that her brother had taken up their father’s mantle. And she knew he would do a very good job taking care of them all.
