Rares didn't go to pubs or bars if he could help it, when he did he chose one away from the Kumpania and away from anywhere he might run into other members of his clan. He didn't want to be bothered, he didn't want to hear the whispers, and he sure as s**t wasn't in the mood to swallow the hatred tonight. He was at his limit and he'd likely choose to rip a throat out instead of ignoring someone who wanted to give him a hard time. He found a dark little corner booth to hole up in, the waitress good enough to refill his drink but not try to engage him in small talk. He wasn't exactly giving off the most approachable vibe and when Rares meant to look unapproachable it wasn't subtle.

His gaze was far away as he stared into the glass, watching the ice cubes shift within the dark liquid. He knew what he had to do. If she was going to keep doing this to others then he was going to end her life. Every time he thought about it the frayed tether sung to him from beneath the mountain he'd buried it under within himself, but he ignored it. Nausea seizing him. His resolve was set. He just had to figure out how. Vadoma wasn't stupid but neither was he. He was extremely good at what he did.

The spirits might be a problem. Rares mulled over how he was going to keep them from alerting her at the last minute. But he realized, they seemed to vanish when the two of them entered the Vardo, likely due to the amount of objects he had locked in those giant cabinets. Something in there was probably keeping them out, there were wards in there that worked on a variety of spirits. So it would have to be in the Vardo. His brows furrowed as he thought about it, nothing about this brought him pleasure, only more pain. He sighed and swirled his glass, taking a drink, his smoldering amber gaze sweeping the room once. It was relatively quiet here with very few patrons, just the way he preferred. Less noise.

Kieran had been having a very interesting time throughout this past while that his fathers had been away. It was almost exhilarating, the freedom he felt and the pleasure he got in his ability to do so much harm with just a few words. Those moments fed the darkness within him, kept it sated, and made him feel all the more powerful every single day. People had begun to fear him and his uncanny ability to predict their misfortunes. Some had even begun to avoid him, which always gave him a good chuckle.

Such as nearly everyone in this pub. A particularly favoured haunt of his that he had been spending a few evenings a week at. Almost all of the staff kept their distance when he walked through the door, many of them averting their gazes and looking steadfastly away, our busying themselves with something that would keep them from having to interact with him at all.

His lips curled up into a cruel smirk as he watched this behaviour unfold, savouring it for a few moments before he began to move toward his usual spot, a booth nearly hidden in darkness in the corner of the room. He was already pulling out a cigar that had been tucked behind his ear, one from the stash of his fathers he had found hidden in the temple.

But then he stopped, eyes narrowing on a figure who was seated in his spot. He could not make whoever it was out clearly, but surely they were not anybody who knew him, or they would have known better.

Tucking the cigar back behind his ear he approached, his face falling into a steely mask. Upon arrival, he placed both of his hands on the tabletop and leaned towards the figure, a cascade of red and black hair falling in front of one piercing green eye.

"Hello, friend." He bared his teeth in a smile that did nothing to warm his gaze. "Haven't seen you around here before. New in town?"

Rares' gaze snapped to Kierans face as he placed his hands upon the table, his dark amber eyes burning as they locked on the intense green of the other males, hackles rising in annoyance. What *now*? The muscle of his jaw tightened as he tried to keep his temper under control. The vampire's voice was gravelly, woven through with a growl that told Kieran his presence wasn't wanted. "I think you've mistaken me for someone who wants your company. Get lost." His sharp canines flashing as he spoke, a silent threat.

As Rares lifted his drink he never broke eye contact, something about this male was unsettling. Yet why did he also feel so familiar? He paused for a second, brows furrowing as his mind tried to decipher the source. He reminded him of someone. If his head hadn't been so messed up already he likely would have connected the dots and realized. As it stood he remained unaware.

There was a power here he both understood on some deep level, yet it also felt completely foreign to him. As if the darkness in him recognized the darkness in Kieran, but the birthplace of their darkness was so vastly different it was like looking into a broken mirror. Familiar but distorted. He set his glass down again and raised a brow, waiting for him to leave. It usually didn't take a second threat to make people leave him alone.

That dark amber gaze upon his own was all he needed. A vision came, even as he heard the other vampires growl of a voice echoing in his ears, telling him to 'get lost' on repeat until even that fell away. Sharp tip claws flexed against the surface of the table, digging in and carving out a one-inch path, and his jaw set, his visible green eye flashing with sudden darkness.

He saw the man standing in front of a path that led two different ways. He was indecisive about something. There was a sense of franticness, and finally, he stepped foot upon one of the paths in front of him.

The ground turned black beneath that footfall and disintegrated away, opening up into a gaping maw. The man teetered on the edge for a moment and then fell, the darkness swallowing him whole.

Kieran cursed under his breath when he came out of it. There was never any warning when the visions would occur, and they did not happen with everyone he saw. And while to Kieran the visions seemed to last any length of time, outwardly it was always over within seconds.

He straightened from the table, pushing himself back with his arms to stand tall, looking down at the other vampire.

"Dwelling on a difficult decision, are we?" Kieran asked, his eye narrowing, a smirk pulling up on his lips.

Rares continued to stare at the unwelcome guest with that same hostility, his temper amping up more and more with each second that passed. It didn't seem like this stranger was moving any time soon. Just his luck. But then something strange happened, the energy in the room shifted and Rares narrowed his gaze suspiciously.

What was that? His eyes flicked down quickly to the claws as they left ruts in the table and then back up to the other vampire's face. What was happening here? It had only been seconds, likely imperceptible to someone who wasn't sensitive to energy, but it had left Rares feeling unsettled.

He leaned back slightly in the booth, watching him with a careful consideration, the light catching the briefest glint of silver in his dark hair before it vanished again. With one hand still wrapped around his drink he set the other on the surface of the table, lightly drumming his claws, allowing only the points to silently strike the surface. Whoever this was he had power, but he was young, inexperienced. Still... his darkness was unique.

The next words out of the strangers mouth and Rares left his own marks in the surface of the table. Amber eyes practically glowing as he assumed the other male had seen something private. So, he was poking around, hmm? "I'm pretty sure that's none of your business, friend." Rares growled. What else had this vampire seen? Giving the stranger a look of warning the male finished his drink and set his glass roughly on the table. "What do you want?"

Kieran laughed, a dark chuckle as he gave his head a slight shake. If this guy thought he could intimidate him, the son of the actual God of vampires, he was going to be sorely disappointed. Reaching up for the cigar tucked behind his ear again, he waggled it a few times before placing it between his teeth, moving it to be held at the corner of his mouth.

"Well, then you should not have made it so obvious." He replied, patting himself down as he tried to remember which of his pockets held his lighter, before slipping his hand into one and pulling it out.

As if he had not heard the other vampire, he then moved to sit in the booth opposite of him, appearing completely unphased by his obvious temper.

Kieran had witnessed far worse and scarier things than him.

"Well at first I was going to tell you that you are in my spot and that perhaps you should find someplace else to be." He lit the cigar, drawing on it several times, filling the air with its scent as puffs of smoke billowed out and away until the end glowed bright and steady.

He took a much longer draw on it then, enjoying the flavour as it rolled to the back of his tongue. He released it when he spoke again, the smoke curling from his mouth and hanging in the air around him as he gave the other vampire a lazy smile.

"But now I think I might just let you stay, and get to know you a little better."

Of course, he could choose to leave if he wanted. Either way, Kieran would be happy.

The vampire gave Kieran a look of cold annoyance, watching as he searched himself in case he was going for something that was worth being concerned about. He relaxed a little as it turned out to be harmless, just a lighter. Shouldn't make it so obvious, huh? Who was this guy? It agitated him that there was such a smugness to his knowing, he wanted to play fortune teller? Fine. Two could play that game. Rares smirked, his lip curling up, but the expression was anything but friendly as the other male slid into the booth, trying to belittle his presence by graciously allowing him to stay.

"How charitable." He responded, his eyes shifting to the bar as he waved his hand and the waitress brought him a new glass. The look on her face etched with nerves, eyeing both males uncomfortably before she hurried away. Rares ignored her existence completely after she'd set his glass down, his gaze back on Kieran. Get to know him better? Well, that was a new one. Of course he was immediately suspicious, his ability to trust in the good nature of others having taken a massive blow within the last few hours. Still, it was curious. "I'm not entirely sure what you hope to glean from this encounter but I'll play." He responded, lifting his drink to his lips. "But for every question, you have to draw a card."

His other hand had slipped into his pocket and now retracted, fanning out a deck of black and red playing cards across the table before Rares. "I'll give you three." The cards would tell him a lot, if this male wanted to get to know him this would be the way it happened. He was certain this had to be some weird game. That nagging sense of familiarity tugged at him, his eyes slipping up to Kieran's face as he felt it. What was it? He was certain he'd never met him before and yet... who knew. Maybe he'd run across him in the past. The cards would say if it was worth knowing. If not, it didn't really matter. Rares leaned back, his eyes glowing softly as the smoke curled between them. "You can go first."

The thick smell of cloves hung heavily in the air as Kieran took another very long draw on his cigar, his eyes narrowing as a lazy smile curled up the corners of his lips. His demeanour seemed to change by increments, tension easing as he became more relaxed, hardened edges seeming to soften slightly, though his gaze still appeared sharp. When the waitress was called over, green eyes flicked toward her, noting the nervous energy that rolled off her, and Kieran could see it was directed at both the vampires at the table.

Interesting. His smile widened as his eyes shifted back to Rare's. There was something odd about him, and Kieran wanted to figure out what it was. Despite events from his past, the redhead was not wary of this stranger. He did not let the moment of his kidnapping define him or rule over him with fear.

He would never be ruled by fear.

"You are so welcome." Smoke curled from his lips as he spoke, his voice low and languid. When Rare's mentioned drawing cards, Kieran's arched a brow, a look of bemusement on his face when the other vampire pulled them out and spread them on the table in front of him.

What was this? He almost laughed but managed to hold it in. Removing the cigar from between his lips, he rested his elbow on the table before him and flicked ash onto its surface, his eyes moving back up to hold Rare's gaze.

"How fun." He practically purred, voice low. He did not care what this vampire learned about him or what he thought he was about to learn. It mattered very little.

He leaned forward, keeping his gaze locked on Rare's as he lifted his free hand, brought it down to tap a sharp claw on a card at random, and then held it there.

"Why are they so afraid of you?" He asked, nodding toward the bar, the staff, and the patrons.
