Atheron waited, watching her beautiful face as she seemed to be working through something. Probably the wisdom of his previous herd spoken through him. Oh by the wild spirits, the Matron would die of shock if she knew he HAD actually heard half the thing she was trying to teach him. Funny how it never seemed to matter until now. Now it mattered.

Focusing on her, and the memory of the old Matron helped to tamp down thoughts that should not be there. It was everything in him not to push forward. Probably the only time in his whole life he didn't trample forward.

Some moon flowers should never be caught under hoof like that.

His name had been said many a time in his life. With parental love, exasperation, anger or friendly greeting. Even a with challenge such as with his brother. Most of the memories were more exasperation than anything. Never once did it seem to be spoken with the warmth of her tone for him. All at once, the air in the lean-to seemed to shift. There was a warmth that called to his veins like the desire to run and race called to his hooves. He didn't have words for it, but his heart swelled all the same.

What she said next confused him a moment. Live life alone? She wasn't alone. Confusion and battling his own hot blood kept him silent. There was more to what she was working out, he just had to be patient and follow.

Her hand on his face was welcomed, the stallion leaned in to her as she had done to his own not too long ago. Shifting on his hooves, it was near impossible to hide his surprise at the confession. There was no way he heard what he thought he heard.

Just how could he respond? Did she want him to respond? The limits of his speechcraft were long exhausted at this point. He had no words. About all he managed was to slightly part his lips, letting out a sigh.

Ravenna, in her Moon Blessed heart, created away to respond that didn't need words. Hardly an expert on kisses, just young flirtations with different mares in his herd. This was his element, however. He didn't need to think, didn't need to speak, just needed to act. Atheron was good at following action.

Tightening his arm around her waist, he brought his other back up to her cheek, cupping against her with fingers right along the jaw bone and thumb along the apples of her check. Tilting his head just a little to avoid nose bumping, the stallion eagerly and wholeheartedly returned her kiss.

Running together felt natural, right. This? Nothing more perfect existed under the sky then her sweet lips on his. He wasn't going to question it, or hesitate. There was no doubt in his heart he loved her, from almost the very start. To get to show her was a dream in of itself, something so precious he feared to break it.

Ravenna didn't know what she expected when she pulled Atheron's head down to meet her own. Perhaps he'd rebuff her advances, or turn his cheek. Perhaps he wouldn't kiss back... A million thoughts ran through her mind, but everything stilled when Atheron tightened his arm around her waist, and kissed her back.

Her chest tightened, her heart all but leaping with the thrill of it. Their lips pressed together felt electric, and it wasn't something she wanted to end. It was irrational, but she feared this was her only chance to really tell Atheron what he meant to her. Not through words, not through explanations...but through her body and spirit. She ... she loved him. Perhaps she always had, but she hadn't known it for what it was...

But she knew it now.

Gods help her, she didn't want them to be just friends or herdmates. She wanted him at her side as something more.

There wasn't a ton of room in that lean-to, but Ravenna twisted just enough so she could better reach him. She slipped her arms around his shoulders and neck, better holding onto him, and pressing herself closer. She wanted to savor the kiss, deepening it as he allowed, following the sparks wherever they might lead. She wanted to memorize his taste, on the offhand chance this was her only time to get to savor him so closely.

Ravenna had no regrets. This was exactly where she wanted to be.

He should tell her he loved her. Probably should have told her a long time ago. The talking part of his brain was currently recovering. All he had left was action. Action he could manage without needing to consult the brain.

Leaning his upper half down to make him easier for her to hold on to, Atheron sighed into the kiss and encouraged her deepening it. Probably should start off slow, gentle and easy. Someone should tell that to the fire she ignited in his very soul.

Instead, the arm around her waist played soft caresses between shin and soft fur where human half met horse. The other journeyed. First was the caress to her cheek, a dance along her jaw followed. A gentle moment of brushing against her ear before moving along the shell down to her neck, following the rush of sparks until he reached her shoulder.

Just gentle touches as he thoroughly cherished every single second he had her this close. In this moment, he could freeze time and just live locked in arms and lips with her.

Sure, they'd need to really breath, eventually. Though he needed her kiss more than he ever needed oxygen. Probably would also need to talk.

Right now, right now it was hard to want anything more than to follow as far as they could go in their cozy little lean-to.

Ravenna knew she should break things off, take things at a gentle pace--but the mare didn't want to take things slow. The electricity that sparked between them had set her heart pounding, and lit a passion in her she hadn't known she could feel. Like a prairie in drought, the fire consumed her-- and she didn't want to stop or hold back. If she was parched land, then Atheron was the monsoon, and she craved him in a way she'd never known. She wanted to drown in his kisses, and drag him down with her.

The Moon Priestess usually knew what to say, and tended to be of a temperate and patient mindset--but here, in the lean-to, finally giving in to the feelings, she didn't want to wait. She wanted Atheron to know just how much he meant to her, and right now, words couldn't, wouldn't, be enough.

As his hand so tenderly traced down her cheek and jaw, one hand gripped his shoulders, while the other ran up the back of his neck, burying fingers through his purple locks. She twisted them gently in her fingers, caressed his scalp softly with her nails, before dragging her fingers back down his back and shoulders.

She repeated the motion until she finally broke off the kiss--but she didn't speak. Instead, she turned to bury her face against his neck, savoring his close proximity and scent. She kissed his jawline, his neck, his collarbone, before she sought out his lips once more.

No.

Ravenna had no desire to speak.

Thankfully, there was no one around for miles. She had the rest of the night to tell Atheron exactly how she felt, and planned to do so--provided he was open to her way of communicating.
