When not in her temple or the realm of the Gods, Desire was out of her element... and yet in her element. Walking through the streets, the goddess felt palpable lust around her. Of particular interest were Grendel's vampires, who, in spite of not having a heart beat, seemed particularly prone to the emotion. So it was that Desire found herself on the campus of a vampire university, and she paused to take it all in. Leaning against a column, she indulged herself by allowing the heady emotion around her sink into her skin.
Ah yes, this was what she wanted in followers. While they were not her adherents -- not yet, in any case -- they did fulfill a certain need. In a rather transparent disguise, the goddess was nevertheless instantly recognizable as an improbably radiant being, far too powerful and too otherworldly to be mortal. But she was in a den of immortals, and perhaps might blend in among the rest as a result. Sliding her hand up against the column itself, she pondered her next move. There was a library inside the university, she had learned. Perhaps that was where she would go next. Ah... but suddenly, she felt something, and it made her consider for a moment longer if she might not want to wait just a little more.

For the moment, things were quiet at the University. Laz preferred it when things were quiet, because that meant his clan was busy studying or keeping their problems to themselves. Leaving him to some peace as he poured through a ton of old tomes and texts. He felt like he was on the verge of linking two specific sets of research to one another. Figuring out how to use different kinds of magic in creative ways was something he rather preferred to accomplish, because being unpredictable would always give him a leg up in many situations. Of course, there were still people keeping an eye on the University even when the disciple was deep in thought or studying to the point where the outside world seemed to vanish. There were still people watching the university for him, a network of sorts, and he was alerted the moment someone interesting showed up. All things considered she had a bit of a presence, and was neither student nor teacher, which meant she was someone Lazarus would have to go see himself. With a bit of a tired sigh, Lazarus placed a bookmark in what he was reading and closed the tome. He rose to his feet from where he had been on the floor and arranged his robes accordingly. It was night, thankfully, and that meant there were very few mortal students walking around. Only students who lived in the dorms could stay past a certain time, to ensure Tremere would have the privacy it needed at night. He made his way to the library and paused at the doorway, watching the woman for a second. She was an unknown figure to him. Someone he had yet to meet. And no ordinary fae, that much was clear. Lazarus made sure to keep a few spells at the ready, just in case she was there for trouble, before clearing his throat and offering her a smile. "Is there something you are looking for at the University?" His voice was a deeper one and above the smile were eyes that could not stop glowing. Most found them uneasy to look at. Would this woman be another?

In truth, Desire was not here to steal followers. No, it was curiosity of a sort that drew her out of her own temple. Power abounded here, and a certain type of lust that was unique in its own way. She soaked it in for a long moment, before she heard an unfamiliar footfall. When the man spoke, the goddess turned, a mismatched pair of eyes regarding him at last. She considered his question, taking note of the near divine level of power he possessed. It was a heady thing, power... and though his was not equal to her own, she still enjoyed the feel of it, the scent of it. "Curiosity drew me here. Perhaps a hunger for knowledge. Perhaps the power that lies within these walls." Not hers for the taking, and she had no need of it. Yet it compelled her all the same.
What was such strength to a goddess? But unfamiliar magic, ah... yes, that was intriguing in its own right. "You are at the center of it," she said simply, as though it were completely obvious that he was the strongest among those who filled these halls. An interesting male, whose eyes glowed like they had swallowed stars. Her own visage was unique, albeit beautiful, an unevenly bisected, mismatched lattice of good and evil, of balance, of everything in between. Perhaps as her mother before her, she represented both. As changeable as her alignment, the goddess held her father's domain, and it showed.

The unknown was often taken as a threat and Lazarus had a habit of leaning into those kinds of fears to make himself the threat. For the moment he was doing nothing more than politely standing there, but his mind was carefully calculating his next moves and words. She was much stronger than he was. Lazarus was as strong as a vampire could get but she... well, he would never obtain that kind of power. Not in a million years, no matter how much magic he hoarded. She was a threat. That information could not be easily swept under the rug. Lazarus did not like threats. Bad memories threatened to surface but he tamped down on them even as she correctly acknowledged that he was the power that had drawn her in. Perhaps his wards needed updating. More research would be required. "Perhaps, though I owe my power to another." There was a slight bow of his head, hands coming up in a gesture of prayer before naming his god. "I am one of Grendel's chosen." It felt proper to bring the name up, if only so she would understand that causing problems here was stepping into a fight she might not like to get into. "What knowledge is it that you seek? Perhaps I can assist you in finding it swiftly." The sooner she was gone, the better everything would be. He was determined to do his best to get out of this with the least amount of destruction as possible.

A god's chosen followers carried the mark of such, which Desire had recognized almost upon meeting this particular fellow. She had no designs to pry any god's followers away from them, of course. But it seemed to her that this chosen vampire was unsettled by her presence. Perhaps that was to be expected. "A deity can sense another deity's signature," she told him, since he seemed inclined to stress his connection to the god of vampires. Quirking a brow, the goddess observed the Grendel devotee.
"I am Desire, the goddess of Lust," she said, for at this point there seemed little point in concealing such a thing. "I had simply come here because within these walls there is a great thirst, a lust if you will, for knowledge and power. That will always call to me. However... I am not here as an interloper." He had already invoked Grendel in what seemed like a prayer. That the other deity might potentially be put off by her presence had not occurred to her, but his follower did not seem to care for it. It was not her way to force herself on anyone. "I doubt that you can help me in my search. But I thank you for the offer."
