Yuei stretched out, her arms reaching to the first rays of dawn's light as it seeped it's way through the shards of night clinging to the sky. She smiled up at the beautiful spread of colour, lowering her arms back to her sides. Yuei had been a guard of the city since her adolescent years, she couldn't remember a time that she didn't want to be a guard and had trained tiresomely at the hooves of the knights academy in order to prove herself worthy of such a rank. Sure, she could climb the ladder to a more prestige title if she really wanted to, but she had no desire to be anything other than a guard unless she was otherwise called upon to do so.
She liked the simplicity of talking with adventurers and townsfolk, hearing of their stories and dreams and seeing as they went about their business, bringing enlightenment and prosperity to the city folk. Many had never even ventured outside of the walls and why would they, when they had been provided safety in this small collective.
Taking the long golden pole in hand from the armoury, a long flowing pink flag hanging from the tip, she held it proudly at her side and made her way through the waking streets, nodding and greeting the other early risers as she made her way to the city gates and her routine posting. She looked out in to the distant hills and tree tops, wondering what tales would be woven as the day progressed.

Theseus wasn't sure what town he was in, nor did he really care. The large stallion was used to moving from village-to-village, herd-to-herd, looking to scare up work. He was a sellsword, so he went wherever the coin took him. Usually it wasn't difficult work- scaring off hoodlums and troublemakers; guiding someone through troubled territory- but other times the work was more complicated. Sometimes it involved taking care of problems local authorities wouldn't touch, picking off clear threats, or working for people so questionable he was certain he well could have been dubbed an accomplice or accessory for crimes-against-taurs.
But that was just how the world worked.
It wasn't always sunshine and roses, and Theseus didn't give a damn about weather, or botany. Instead, he took what work he could get -- and while he had his own code for what work he would or wouldn't take, it had very little to do with morality.
So it was, the large stallion had been wandering the streets and local hot-spots, keeping an ear out for information that might lead him towards some good coin. There was always someone who knew someone, after all. He just had to have a little luck. Even if that didn't happen, rumors spread, and Theseus certainly didn't hide who he was, or why he was there. With sword and shield in hand, one eye, and countless scars it wouldn't take long for someone to approach him with questions....
Having risen bright and early, accustomed to taking advantage of every moment of daylight, Theseus walked through the town. It was quiet, but he knew it would be bustling later; the emptier streets would allow him a chance to acquaint himself with the streets, and make note of which establishments looked like they might of use to him later.
Rounding a corner, he paused when he almost stepped out directly into the path of Yuei. The flagpole at her side held the city crest, and along with some armor, told him everything he needed to know about her. The pretty face wasn't just some mare out for a morning stroll -- she was likely some sort of local authority. Theseus took a few steps back, but dipped his head cordially all the same. "Morning to you, Miss," he spoke, hoping she'd carry on and pass.
He wasn't up to any mischief, just a newcomer looking for work. There wasn't anything illegal about that, after all. At least, he didn't think his line of work was illegal.

Yuei wasn't entirely certain what made her double take on the shady looking character. She had seen plenty of his sort in her time, looking for the next person to hand over a sizeable pouch of coin to see them to the next town over. Except while her eyes foresaw the stunning setting in the distance, they faltered from steadily gazing at it's sun kissed contour in favour of the roguish centaur. "Good Morning!" She greeted, rooting the end of the flag pole hard enough in to the earth that the concrete underneath created a small amount of grounded particles displaced beneath.
"From where do you hale?" She inquired, curiosity gleaming within her hazels. She took a moment to admire the scar on his face. His physical imperfections showed a novel hidden under hoof, awaiting to be spilled and if not so freely, from the influence of a flagon of ale or two however it was much too early for that. Perhaps Yuie would get lucky and the male wouldn't need so much enticing to share his story or stories of adventure from beyond the habitual walls she was duty bound.
"I can tell you have much wisdom to partake, I'd be interesting in hearing of your adventures, if you would be so kind as to entertain me." She cast him a sweet smile, if only he would allow her a glimpse in to his lifestyle. She wasn't out to seek justice for whatever his neutrality had lead him toward from outside of their walls, she did however wish to learn of what to expect from beyond her day to day routine in their sheltered little paradise and would appreciate the insight, if their encounter lead to such fortune.
