((PRP for King Richard, Moon Whisper, and Darkhart))
King Richard had been traveling through this area for nearly a month now. When he had first entered the neighboring area, he'd heard vague rumors and whispers from those he'd talked to. The further into the territory he'd come the more substantial the stories had become. Eventually he'd pieced a story together. There was just something tickling the back of his brain that something wasn't right, but he couldn't place a hoof on it.
The creature upon his back shifted her weight before she spoke. "You might as well say something. It's clear something is bothering you. You're stiff as a board." You would never catch her walking in this terrain and getting her paws dirty. Roxie shifted her weight again against her companion's uncomfortable gait. Normally he was a smooth ride, except for when something was bothering him.
He snorted. "Aye. All the stories say there's a big bad wolf, dog, or canine of some kind in the area causing harm, but there's never been any concrete evidence of damage." Richard thought for a moment and then continued. "Like that one stallion who said a friend of a friend of a friend's cousin's teepee had been ransacked and ruined. They huffed and puffed and nearly blew the teepee away. But we could never find them. Things like that."
The stallion continued his slow cautious path through the dark night. That was one reason he was going slow. It was blasted hard to see. Add on top of that, he was looking for a dangerous beast. He was going to be cautious! Richard didn't know the area and that put him at a disadvantage. He wanted to help out, but he was having doubts that there was anything there for him to really help with.

Moon Whisper tried to not shake as she traversed the woods as the sun set, casting the forest into even deeper shadow. She had heard a dangerous beast roamed here, but she was determined to find her brother. She'd heard that the one responsible for her condition was no more, but what about the other? Pausing to turn to her companion, she pawed the earth to get his attention before doing a series of rapid ear flicks. *Are you certain we'll be alright? Night is almost here and we've yet to find shelter...*
"Oh don't worry, miss! I'm sure you'd look big and scary enough that anyone traveling through here would leave you alone. And you've got me!" Wisp said in his ever-present chipper voice, a bounce in his step as he lead the way.
With a sigh, Moon Whisper resumed trailing after him, her lantern bobbing in the creeping darkness.
Darkhart was in a grumpy mood again, the source of the current state flying overhead. "Just WHOSE fault is it that the stupid rumor about a savage beast is roaming these woods started to spread like wildfire?" He snapped up at his avian tag-along. He was further in the woods, about to den down for the day while there was still light enough to find his way.
Cawing with mischevious glee, Valravn landed and hopped about on his perch. "You did say you wanted to be left alone, did you not? What better way than to fly about screeching "DOOM!" and "DEATH!" to the little simpletons below? It was highly amusing to be perfectly honest."
"You're more trouble than you're worth..." Came the muttered reply.

Moon Whisper's unease grew with the darkness and almost jumped out of her fur when she heard another voice call out. Instead she froze, fear and uncertainty locking her in place. While her cloak's comforting weight helped to keep off some of the chill that sought to creep through her fur it did couldn't hold it back from growing in her heart.
"Hulloa! Mind coming toward us slowly? The lass is a bit spooked by your sudden shout." Wisp called out, taking control of the situation.
Darkhart's ears flicked, detecting the far-off voices but was unable to make out what was being said. "Happy now? Probably have some do-gooders traipsing through these woods to "eliminate the threat" that you so cleverly fabricated." He snapped peevishly, turning to face the direction of the disembodied voices.
"Don't get your fur all stuck up, I'll go check it out. These woods are so dark, and ancient, they're probably lost fools." Valravn cackled as he took flight, winging in the direction Darkhart had turned to face. Is that a light..? He thought, as he drew closer. Carefully alighting on a branch, he peered down curiously and almost fell out of the tree in shock. She almost looks like what he said she looked like when he saw her! But... isn't she supposed to be dead?! True, she had quite a few scars, some terrible, all over her. With a startled squawk that betrayed his location, he rapidly flew back to the large Direwolf Shifter. "It's an apparition! It can't be her but it is!" He cawed.
Say what now..? Darkhart thought crossly, looking up at the inky blob moving rapidly toward him.

"We've actually come to investigate them ourselves-" Wisp's reply was cut short when the startled squawk of a bird overhead, followed by shouting that grew farther away, caused the newcomer to dart off after the source. Well that escalated quickly. He thought, and glanced at Moon Whisper. "Shall we follow?"
The abruptness of the change made her blink in confusion, before it sunk in what was going on, and what she'd heard. Wait... Wolf? Could it be..? Without waiting for Wisp to follow she ran all-out, quickly catching up to and outdistancing the winged stallion, not even glancing in his direction as she did so. Her lantern cast its light in a dizzying manner, swaying violently in her mouth as she ran.
Wisp with a chuckle swiftly followed after her, doing his best to keep pace so she'd not be without his aid once they reached their destination.
"You blind fool, I'm not in wolf form. Nice job leading these pests here, Valravn!" Darkhart snapped, his quiet place all but shattered now. And then he fell abruptly silent, staring at the light as it jerked about erratically, catching a glimpse here and there of the one carrying it. Impossible... He thought, his mind going blank with shock. Is this what that blasted featherhead meant by an apparition?
"Listen I can't control what felines do; they've got this impulse to go after things with wings. Even if this one is part bird..." Valravn replied, seeking to shake off his stalker.
Moon Whisper skidded to a halt once she saw a familiar dark form towering in front of her. Her body began to quiver, but not out of fear. She couldn't explain this emotion that caused her mind to run amok. She started to emit faint squeaking-whines, her ears and tail twitching erratically.
"Miss... Is it him?" Wisp asked gently, coming to stand beside her while keeping an eye on the stallion they'd dashed past.

Valravn snorted in amusement. "You're the ones causing trouble here, you simpleton." Landing in a tree near where Darkhart stood in shock, the raven tilted his head and decided that dropping a pinecone on the Shifter's head might be an effective way to snap him out of it. Right as he was about to do so, however, the other Shifter and her familiar made their move.
"A most gallant effort, sir, but I'm afraid it is unnecessary in this instance." Wisp said, noting that Moon Whisper had gone from quivering rock to tensing up for something, the muscles rippling underneath her fur. And then... She just launched herself forward, the lantern falling from her teeth as she tackled the larger Shifter, burying her face in his flank while her tail was moving so fast it was a blur. Quickly righting the lantern, lest it go out or set fire to the forest, Wisp explained the situation to the winged stallion. "That, noble sir, is Moon Whisper's long-lost brother, Darkhart."
Darkhart couldn't process what was happening, it was going to quickly for it to sink in. Not until the other Shifter had barreled into him and buried her face did he instinctively twitch, but caught himself in time. My sister... I believed you to be dead... He thought with a sigh, his rigid features melting as he bent his neck to gently nuzzle her. Moon Whisper... So that is the name you have chosen. He raised his head to stare coldly at the interlopers, issuing them a frosty challenge with his body language. "Leave. You are not needed here. And next time, don't listen to what the birds cry."
