    xxxxAbout the Professor:
    Professor Jasper Ichabod Marcs-Conroy (only goes by Professor Marcs), was born to a pureblood witch and wizard. His father came from a banking family full of loan sharks and his mother came from a family of seers and prophets. He of course soon became the failure of his parents as he turned out to be a squib. His Grandmother Marcs a seer from him mother's side took pity on him and adopted him from his parents.

    Grandmother Marcs was adamant that Jasper learned the arts of prediction to his limitations as a squib and receive a reputable muggle education. As Jasper began his education in Mathematics of Random Systems he took two Adult Education Courses during his summer. He easily scored an O in Arithmancy which he felt was little different than the predictions muggles make using statistics, and an E in Ancient Runes which he found a bit more difficult for his mathematically inclined mind.

    In 2048, Jasper completed his DPhil Mathematics of Random Systems CDT and with his choice of Universities he chose to began a professorship at the University of Sydney. His time was quite successful for ten years where he was beloved by his students, noted for his research, and soon to be selected for tenure before a conflict with a fellow professor regarding the quality of the other professor's work ended with Jasper being requested to leave the university to hide any controversy.

    Until Jasper started with Hogwarts, he worked as an arithmancer working from his apartment in London.

                                                    The Arithmancy classroom is one of the smaller classrooms in Hogwarts as the subject does not require much space for instruction and the class sizes tend to be smaller. In the front of the classroom is a large chalkboard with a small desk and rolling desk chair. The words "No Wands Out in this Classroom" are etched in the board with chalk for so long that only a scrugify charm could remove the words. In the back of the classroom is a book shelf with several books of reference for the subject that students are allowed to come into the classroom when class in not in session to use for homework if they so wish. If a student wishes to check out a book they are expected to check out the book using a ledger book on top of the book shelf.

                                                        Jasper found the curriculum for Arithmancy V interesting. In his opinion the course was a bit heavy in the front of the Arithmancy journey for Hogwarts students. Perhaps it was planned to hook the students on the course as learning just history could be a bit dull. Waiting for the students was a single note that he had no intention in erasing: "No Wands Out in this Classroom". A list of Subjects to review for the NEWTs was already at each students' seat:

I want to congratulate each of you for getting this far in what is often seen as a difficult subject. You have learnt the basics of this subject and once certified with your NEWT could go on to be an arithmancer. However, if you immediately stepped into the field now you will find far better arithmancers than you."

                                                        "I will not waste any of your time with formal review. What one person struggles with will be different than someone else. Instead I want to trust you as the adults most of you are and allow you to treat this period as a research period. I will be here during class time and my office hours where I will be happy to go over any subject you wish."

                                                        "Do not make me regret trusting you in your freedom. In front of you is information on the key subjects you should have reviewed. Use that as a guide. My office hours are on the back of the sheet. You lot are dismissed. I look forward to working with you as you further explore the subject on your own."

"What is my role?"

Zack wasn't great at Arithmancy, but he wasn't awful at it, he had passed his OWL after all. He was sure that he would be the only one in the Arithmancy class this year, but Serghei the transfer kid walked in too.

Zack had to laugh a little at Professor Marcs, saying he was their new teacher, they had been under him fr a few years now, maybe the guy was just losing it. But then - maybe the professor was losing it as he just let them go freely to do work instead of hosting class. "Professor M - I feel like trusting me and what's his face here with free time for the hour is going to lead to be a mistake, so I don't accept it. Look though, I need help on everything we covered last year. In America they just don't explain anything the right way, they're all backwards there. I flunked school there!" He looked at the sheet that the professor had given, "Compatibility using arithmancy? I need elaboration, please. "

                                                                Serghei had enjoyed Arithmancy at Durmstrang, though the professor had been... rather horrible. Thankfully, there was indeed a class at Hogwarts he could transfer into. Though the class would likely be different, Serghei brought his books and notes from home, wondering where the Hogwarts students had left off. When he walked in, there was only one other student there, which was very odd. Serghei set out his notes at his seat, writing down the things on the board.

                                                                When Zack spoke, Serghei sent over a frown to the other at being called "what's his face". Though he also added that he flunked last year, which came as no real surprise. "Serghei Antonov. Do not worry, you'll figure it out. I got it by the age of one." He finished writing, then looked over at the professor. "Though I will say Hogwarts seems to have left off around the same time as Durmstrang, though switching to doing work in English will be a fun exchange."

                                                                Serghei pulled out his new book, which was still in German, and looked over the page handed to them on Compatibility Using Arithmancy. Zack asked about it, requesting elaboration as well. Dark eyes glanced over at the other teen, before he spoke up. "It was explained that it was to find similarity between people, places, and things. Such as a relationship connection, good days or months, at al." He flipped through his notes, prepared to offer them over, before realizing Zack Knapp probably didn't know how to read German and Romanian...
