Hi, I'm Flames! Formerly known as Sana. I'm a Leo, and my MBTI is INFP-T My fashion style mainly embodies ethereality. I love looking like a goddess, fairy, enchantress and anything and everything that exudes fantastical beauty and glamour. I've participated in Cycles 1 and 3, where I came in 10th on the first cycle and 9th on the third. My favorite colors are without a shadow of a doubt; yellow and brown, especially pastel yellow and pastel brown. But I like any shades of the two. Fashion is art, and art is subjective. What I will be judging you on is your fashion as it relays to the cycle, and the challenges that we put for you.

I love a variety of nerdy movies and tv shows and enjoy making references to them. Random fun fact for cycle 5: A grabologist is a tie collector.

Judge 4: mythological irony
Hello, everyone, I'm myth! I am really into detailed, complex, layered looks and the ethereal. Fantasy is my love, though I dig a good horror or post-apocalyptic look too. I am also a sucker for a well-crafted background. Personally, I think an avatar looks better with a nose, but I won't hold it against you. if you choose not to include one (I'll just cry a little inside...). Aside from Gaia, I like to read, write, draw, play video games, and watch anime. Currently obsessed with Elder Scrolls Online.

The Body Mod Guideline Determining fair use
First thing you need to keep in mind is that each and every Model has been built as organically as possible. Translation: Our Models mimic the natural characteristics of real humans, with the use of skintone, eyes, lips, hair, and body art. »»» Base features are listed with the photos in the Model Pool — These items must be equipped with the proper pose/colour «««
Their base features are essentially what they were 'born with', if you will. And any body mod that alters that template is not considered fair use. Common mods that are generally unacceptable are hair cutters and freckles. The other big no no is lipstick/changing the base lips color to mimic lipstick. Using the base features is part of the challenge of the competition, and that includes using the lips as they come.
What is fair use? Anything that doesn't change/interfere with a Model's listed base features. Mods that are generally safe, that you may choose to incorporate into your design: Ears, Noses, Shadow/Liner, Blush, Eyebrows, Moles/Scars, Tattoos, Piercings, Armmods/Legmods »»» Be sure when using any of these, that they don't distort the features, either. «««

Judging Criteria
STYLE: Is your design appealing to the eye? This aspect deals exclusively with the picture submitted with an entry, therefore Judges will be looking at colour schemes, shading, textures, item management, background/foreground application, visual use of space, pose angle, and just the overall affect the picture provides. A good design should be refined, fashionable, and catered to the Model that's wearing it. It should have the visual effect of looking as though it's part of an item set.
MOTIF: Does your design reflect the challenge? This aspect deals exclusively with the concept of the design, so Judges will be examining a Designer's interpretation of the task, and whether their intention was executed to perfection. Submissions are expected to meet the requirements of the issued challenge, so there must be clear relevance between them. Though, in a world where viewpoints change from person to person, and double entendres thrive, unconventional concepts are feasible.
CREATIVITY: How fresh is your design? This aspect deals exclusively with the presentation of the design, meaning that Judges will be determining whether the Designer's concept can balance practicality with originality. While it's easy and boring to create a stylish look using sets, they're literally made to accommodate each other, which is hardly artistic. Whereas the use of varied items, or uncommon/unpopular items is exciting, and much harder to achieve a fashionable outfit.
DESCRIPTION: Can you sell your design? This aspect deals exclusively with the commentary of the design, where the Judges will determine whether or not a Designer was able to sell them on their submission through written word. This critical part of the entry is arguably the most important to a Designer, as it allows them to give a voice to the other, silent criteria. Here, a Designer can explain their style choices, describe their motif(s), and argue their creativity skills. However, the benefit of communication also comes with the burden of coherency, which means that descriptions need to be concise. Translation: More thorough than a few sentences, but no long-winded ramblings, either. If unsure, review examples.
Please Note: Judging is subjective, which is why there are 4 Panel Judges — to provide a more balanced average of Designer scores. Therefore, even if a Designer disagrees with their feedback, they're not in a position to dispute their score, or placement in the challenge. Wins are earned fairly, and eliminations are decided reliably. Don't get upset if you're eliminated ... It's just a game after all, and there can only be one winner in this competition. Getting eliminated says nothing about your overall skill.

Submission Guide
Essentials: Every challenge entry you submit must be accompanied by an image, an outfit title, your name, your model's name, a description, and your submission status.
Form: As long as all the basic info is present, there's no right or wrong way to post, so use whatever text size & colour, info order, etc that makes most sense to you (200-250 words)
Cropping: Submitting one angle makes a submission post look more presentable, and allows for you to choose the best presenting side of your Model's outfit
Sizing: The standard avatar dimensions (120 x 150) are perfect for your entry and enlarging/shrinking the image usually results in distortion
Exhibitions: Don't share more than one challenge entry with the Judges — If you feel creative and want to share more designs, create a separate thread

♥ Description ♥ For a Valentine's day challenge, I knew I wanted to explore a look inspired by the Greek goddess Aphrodite, or Venus her Roman counterpart.
My focus for this challenge was to keep the Goddess of Love enticing. I began developing Tara's rendition of the goddess with her clothing, or lack there of. Tara's leg pose came with the fabric entwined with them which is very reminiscent of greco-roman sculpture. I loved the way some of Tara's braids fell to the front, so I wanted to choose a top and an arm pose that would not cover her hair. I knew I wanted to add laurels which are signature to the Greek gods! Luckily, I was able to find some that looked similar to myrtle flowers, which is one of the symbols associated with Aphrodite.
Other elements of the background, including the water were absolutely necessary to this goddess because she was born from the sea. Prior to adding the water, I added a tree with white leaves to echo Tara's laurels.
Finally, I knew I wanted to add on a dove to complete Tara's date look! This was the most difficult part of the challenge, because so many of Gaia's bird items would layer behind the background items I already added. Fortunately, I finally found a dove that would show up with the model!

The Final Boss Model: Brooke Designer: METTAT0N Description: Brooke here represents the Queen of a rival kingdom, ready to strike down the protagonist for threatening her fair land.
I hadn't originally set out to do a sexy design, but what I did want to include from the beginning was the Mythrill Armor item, one that I have always remembered for it's gold and silver color scheme. When I realized that Very Protective Fantasy Armor used the same silver color, I decided I was going to try to build around them both. I very quickly came to realize that this was a very dark silver, near gray, that didn't match many of the brightish-whitish silvers on site. But thankfully, the Princess Charming appeared to be a fairly close match.
As much as I wanted to include a more fitting, armored boot, none of them appeared to be available in the dark silver I had chosen, so I had to opt for these dark gray boots decorated with golden shackles. I'm a bit torn on the cape myself, but after much deliberating I decided to leave it. Her body without it is rather narrow, which comes across as somewhat un-intimidating, and I feel that the cape compensates for that and gives the design more of the "imposing" feeling I was thinking of.

The Paladin
Designer — Alesaan Model — Sarah Status — Complete
▼ Description ▼
Oh man, am I late to the party!
I love the warrior look in all its variations, and knew it is what I wanted to try Sarah in first.
The biggest priorities for me were: (1) finding armor that she could realistically fight in, (2) find armor that didn't look clunky like many of them do, (3) create an outfit that looks chic, and (4) clearly be able to tell her RPG class at a glance. (the amount of high heels in the armor items was ridiculous)
I also thought the portrait with the roses enhanced the red and gold color scheme and ties in her tiara's rose, while adding a romantic note too. I liked how it frames her without overshadowing her (or drowning her out with busy-ness), and decided to go with it over a classic background because of that.
I went with whimsy but modest accessories she could fight in, so they had to be small, light, and not something an enemy could easily grab. Hence a small tiara with a rose and little elf ear cuffs.

I had long decided that if I got to this point, my final collection would be inspired by the movies, in one way or another. So by the time I made it as a finalist, I'd already set myself specific goals, and decided on certain theme branding details; I would give each Model an outfit inspired by a specific movie genre, but only subtly so. They would look like normal outfits at first glance, with their inspirations only becoming clear once you knew what you were looking for. And then, inspired by how much progress I'd made throughout the competition in making casual outfits, they’d all be styled in that distinct way.
But I continuously ran into trouble, not least of which was that I ended up on the fence about my style choice until the very last minute. I couldn't help it! No matter how many outfits I created, there would always be that one look that had me second- guessing the entire line. Like, if a single item didn’t mesh 100% with all of the items in another look, it got scrapped! Though eventually, with some encouragement from my peers, I tuned out the negative voices in my head, and was able to fine-tune my idea to be less generic, more striking, and a lot easier to work with: A set of red carpet looks, each themed to a different film genre, but in a way that wouldn’t necessarily be instantly clear, nor look like standard, monotonous Halloween costumes!
To fully grasp my concept, and to adequately appreciate all the subtleties that change between an observer's first impression and any subsequent interactions, requires that we first explore the collection's universal themes, and how they tie everything together. The colour scheme, for example — I thought from the beginning I should limit the colours I used to make it look more cohesive. As long as I distributed the colours differently between them, they’d all still look distinct, so it seemed like a perfect idea. While my first choice of scheme didn't work, I believe I nailed it on my second go around. Secondly, there’s the backgrounds! I came up with the idea of using that particular cutter early on, as I thought it could add a slice of something appropriate to each movie genre. Plus, when I'd finally laid them out side-by-side, I was pleasantly reminded of a strip of film.
So now, with that out of the way, we can turn focus on to the individual Models — The real stars of my little silver screen!
First off is Jen, representing the genre of Horror (specifically of the Gothic variety). When choosing the genres, I wanted ones with specific styles I could play off of, and when it comes to horror and other dark stories, nothing quite says the aesthetic like a Gothic tale. Plus Jen, with her striking eyes, seemed a good match for the mysterious and often supernatural genre. As far as the dress, I wanted to play off the darkness of the genre by using primarily black, with gold accents to reflect richness and opulence. I also wanted to play off of my personal association between the genre and the Victorian era, hence the bustle, high neck, and long gloves. I kept them rather modern, to prevent it from looking like a period costume, but the influence is there. Finally, the tattered-looking overlay is intended to bring in a little more of that desired 'chilling' element.
With Bryce, I was dead on the tracks, until a random train of thought hit me — classic Western films! Though not a genre I have a particular attachment to, it did bring with it a lot of specific styles to play around with, which helped me greatly. Furthermore, it fit the Model's aesthetic perfectly, as I’d always thought Bryce looked quite androgynous, and not particularly suited for long gowns. Yes, she was meant to be a gun-slinging, bar brawling babe, ready at a moment's notice for a standoff! The big challenge here was that lots of equipables ended up looking costumey, so making her look like a cowboy, without literally looking like a cowboy, was hell. Hence the hat, meant to allude to a cowboy's without being so on the nose about it, as well as the string tie and boots (though the boots I chose were also meant to add a bit more glamour and flair to the outfit as well). As far as colours went, I emphasized blue, partially to invoke a denim-esque vibe, but also because I loved the way that particular shade played off the Model's ruby-red hair.
Then there’s Ophelia, taking inspiration from one of my favourite genres: Adventure, though even more specifically, she's patterned after our beloved swashbuckling anti-heroes. As main Model, it was always my intention to make Ophelia the star of my show, hence giving her a personal theme favourite, as well as staging her centre, and making her look bigger and more ornate than the others. But my favourite genre was also the hardest to portray, as I wanted the kind of clothing typically worn by women during these time periods, but she also needed that heroine attitude. Hence, the stereotypical pirate’s coat and sash over her drapery (which took me hours of skirt/dress layering to achieve the perfect textured look). The final 'pirate movie' touch came with the infamous, dramatic, feathered hat, which finally concluded the look ... Right? ... RIGHT?!
Of course not! It took merely seconds for me to start second-guessing the entire design. Like, what was I thinking?! I'd made a wench outfit for my loyal Model's red carpet debut! Then, with my anxiety at peak, I seriously considered just tearing it all apart and starting again from scratch. I mean, everything about it was extra — the farthest thing you'd see walking the red carpet at the Oscars. It pushed the limits of reality, and entered the bizarre; It was peculiar, quirky, homely, atypical, fantastical, unreal!! Though also, if phrased more positively, one could just as well argue that it was a standout piece, unique among the other designs, and simply ... incredible. It hit me, and I thought to myself 'Screw the Oscars! Ophelia and I are Met Gala people!!' And just like that, the grandiose outfit persevered onto the Catwalk stage.
Next is Ginny, with an outfit inspired by vintage Sci-Fi, a theme that felt visceral, right from the moment I saw her assigned to me. I simply needed to put her in a 50's inspired look, for no other reason than because her hairstyle demanded it so. I also felt that her position in the fashion line-up would look most prime if it could mirror Bryce on the other side of Ophelia. Though, of course, Ginny’s more youthful and feminine traits would not be represented in pants. No, I felt Ginny would look her best in a sexier, shorter dress (a choice ever-gaining in popularity on the various red carpets). I picked the scheme for her outfit to reflect typical Sci-Fi colours, with black representing space, and green representing a martian. Plus, in an attempt to introduce some retro-futuristic vibes into the design, I looked around wildly for transparent-looking attachments, but the sheer skirt ended up being the best option in the end. Likewise frustrating, I'd initially had a much better headband in place, only for it to be incompatible with vital finishing touches.
Lastly we have Model Uma, whose sexually-charged base features were easy to assign to Film Noir. I knew I wanted to do a Noir look from the beginning, as its entire aesthetic is such a wonderful place to capture inspiration from. The challenge though, was trying to keep Uma from appearing too simplistic, as formal-Noir is really just old Hollywood's basic glam style. Yes, she'd still have to look classy and elegant, but I decided I'd zhuzhe it up with a 'femme fatale' edge to it. And though, I'd originally intended for it to be B&W (representing the Noir aesthetic), I just couldn’t resist the personality and glamour the fur added to the outfit ... So I had to swap out every white accent for an off-white/creme replacement instead. Luckily for me, I found a creme-coloured necklace that looked even better than it's predecessor, as it was so much more dainty and expensive looking. And even better than the silver circlet it replaced, was the off-white hat, which really gave me 'big, halo-shaped sunhat' vibes. They were all the rage once upon a time! The end result sees Uma looking smokin' HOT!!
All in all, I have to say that I am truly proud of the work I've done with my fashion line here, and while I may have hit a few bumps along the way, I was able to work them out with the skills I've acquired throughout this entire contest. First-Week- Elphie would never have been able to deliver what I feel I've accomplished today. While I may have had all the right tools coming into this competition, I'm secure enough in my abilities now, to admit that I didn't always know how to use them properly. I needed to hear the feedback about my design abilities, whether critical or validating, to really flourish. I've proven (mostly to myself) that my creative juices aren't as stunted as I initially believed they were, and that I thrive when forced to work outside of my comfort zone (something I never would have done before this). No matter the results of the competition, I'm thankful for this experience. I appreciate all of the work that went into the guild as a whole, and I'll definitely be around for future cycles in some capacity. Also, I'm really going to miss Ophelia! She was a gem to work with!!
