Welcome to Project Catwalk! You are welcome to watch the competition unfold whether you are a Designer or a Spectator. But no matter the reason you came, I hope you enjoy your time here and get involved with as much as you can.
Not only are you encouraged to audition for the main competition, but there are tons of opportunities to join in mini contests as well. Get to know your peers and take advantage of the other forums because the main event can have a lengthy runtime.
On that note, I don't recommend anyone apply to be a part of Project Catwalk unless you have time to commit. The competition in its entirety can take anywhere between 2 - 5 months depending on the Designers' and Judges' dedication.
However, for that one Designer that perseveres through the madness and makes it until the very end, they are crowned King/Queen of the Catwalk, and are rewarded with the grand prize!!

Challenge #1: Auld Lang Design Designers, for your first challenge, I want you to create a look inspired by New Years! Feel free to draw inspiration from colour schemes, styles, patterns, or items that reflect the beginning of a new year. You can even develop your look around a motif (ex. current events, resolutions, etc), though be sure not to delve too deep into the abstract. Due date: Jan 14th
Challenge #2: Lisa, It's Your Birthday! Happy Birthday, Lisa! Designers, it's The_Slytherin_Goddess' birthday this week, and she's demanded that you celebrate her day by paying homage to her old avatars from 2006 — 2008! It's simple, really. All you have to do is pick one of the six super stylish outfits she rocked back in the olden days, and re-imagine it for today's world of Gaia. Though, keep in mind, she's not looking for clones. Rather, she wants to see how each of you can honour her particular flavour through colour schemes, motif, and creativity. Due Date: Jan 27th
Challenge #3: Just the Two of Us Designers, it's come to our attention that your Models are feeling lonely! And to remedy this, it'll be your job to set them up with an equipable Valentine's date! You can go casual, formal, or just plain crazy with your style choices, so long as you can explain their on-going relationship or meet-cute scenario. Feel free to use men, women, androgynous peoples, and human hybrids as your Model's date. Due Date: Feb 10th
Challenge #4: Bohemian Rhapsody Designers, it's time for boho! ... Or as my dad calls it: 'tolerable hobo-wear'! That's right — for this challenge, we're delving into the bohemian trend niche; A popular style of dress that largely appeals to vagrants, artists, and free-spirited peoples. Explore the earthy and organic textures contained in fabrics like burlap, hemp, etc. Or perhaps you'd prefer delving into simple arrangements of colourful floral patterns. It's up to you to make your Model hippie-chic. Due Date: Feb 24th
Challenge #5: Is This a Form of Torture? Designers, have you ever seen a piece of clothing so ugly you wondered how anyone could wear it? The Judges were looking through old Gaia items and came across one that made us wonder that very question. Now we want to see what you can do with it! Everyone will be building a look around the same item. Meet the 'Pine Peacoat'. Love it or hate it, we can't wait to see what you do with it! Due Date: Mar 9th
Challenge #6: When You Wish Upon a Star Designers, everyone has a phase where they dream of being royalty, and some people never stop having that dream. The Judges have it on good authority that your Models all want to be Princesses for a day, and we aim to please. Refer to the image and link below, and dress up your Model like their favorite Disney Princess. For this challenge only official Disney Princesses are allowed. Due Date: Mar 23rd
Challenge #7: Be Gentle Designers, things can start to feel stressful at this point in the competition, and we want to encourage everyone to take a deep breath, relax a little, and dress your Models up in your favorite pastel colour theme. Beyond that one instruction, you can do whatever you want with the look. Due Date: Mar 23rd
Challenge #8: I Command Each of Ye Designers, if you think yourselves pure, you won't after this particular task! This week's challenge will have each of you breaking one of the ten commandments, set forth in the book of Exodus. Each Designer must portray a different sin, which they've been randomly assigned to. Challenge #9: Gimme the Skinny Abracadabra, Designers!! ... And just like that, prohibition on skin modifications are lifted until the end of this challenge! Why, you ask? Because for this task, it is your job to give your Model an equipable skintone, and build your look to compliment that feature. The only guideline for your preferred skin, is that it must be visibly different from her normal colour. And to reiterate: This temporary rule lift applies to skintone only, and does not allow for hair or face modification. Due Date: Apr 20th
Challenge #10: At the End of the Rainbow Designers, everyone loves a good rainbow!! And with eight of you remaining, the Judges decided we wanted to see one made from your Models. Below, each of you has been randomly assigned to a color, and it is up to you to dress your Model in that color ... Primarily that color! You're only as limited as your creativity, and we can't wait to see what you all come up with. Really let loose with this one. Challenge #11: Ladies of the Red Carpet Designers, your Models have all been invited to an A-list red carpet event, and it's up to you to make sure they steal the show with an opulent wardrobe. Important to consider will be the type of event you think this invite is for, the inspiration for your chosen event, and telling us how these settings influenced your style decisions. It's up to you whether to lean trendy, bougie, avant garde, classic, etc. But whatever you decide, the Judges encourage you to be extra. Go big, and make something so stunning, it'd have every reporter rushing your muse just to ask them 'Who are you wearing?!' Due Date: May 18th
Challenge #12: Gaian's Best Friend Designers, have you seen the movie '101 Dalmatians'? In the opening sequence we see different people walking their dogs, and all their humans match them — Or do the dogs match their humans? ... Anyway, we want to see your Models matching with their pets, too! But this is Project Catwalk, and with only six of you left, you need a bigger challenge than just that: So we specifically want you to use Lake Kindred kin as your muses. Make sure to include the kin in the look so we get the whole picture, and be aware of your Model's assets; Pick a kin to work with them, not against them. Be creative and don't hold back! Due Date: Jun 1st
Challenge #13: I Choose You! Designers, it's time for cosplay once again. Only this time, your choice of muse comes from a list of 1000+ subjects, including (but not limited to): Monferno, Grookey, Teddiursa, Grapploct & Pichu. Did you guess correctly? ... I'm sure you did ... That's right, we're getting our Pokem-on!! And just to torture you with an overwhelming appointment process, the Judges aren't issuing any limits. You can choose from any of the officially listed Pokemon to be your inspirational beastie. They can be from any generation, any region, and any evolutionary stage. Hell, you can live out your childhood fantasies by turning your Model into a coveted legendary Pokemon if you so desire! Due Date: Jun 1st
Challenge #14: Elementals This is it, Designers. This is the final challenge to determine who will make it into the long- awaited top 3, and the Judges' expectations have never been higher. So to ensure that this last obstacle is challenging, yet fair, we are once again randomly assigning individual motifs — This time based on the classical elements of universal matter. It is strongly urged that you read up on your assigned element a little bit before starting your design, so that you can incorporate as many references into your entry as possible.
