This is a private RP between Hallows Bane, Palila, and Desiderius . Hallows Bane and Palila are owned by Nayci and Desiderius is owned by Calixita.--- In the coming weeks the snow had shed its tears and the blooming green of spring welcomed them with open arms. The sun casting a warm glow upon the land in which they lived. For Palila, it was a time of renewal and growth, to which she took upon herself quite seriously, to which her desire to impart those values within others. And in this case, a handful little colt named Desiderius who was nowhere to be found….again. She sighed softly as she made her way through the trees to find him. He couldn’t have gone far. Hallows would have seen to that.
Speaking of the stallion, Hallows had been a fantastic friend and ally to her in the short time they’d known each other. Not only did he take her in during the darkest snowstorm of the season, but he ensured she always had fully belly and warm place to sleep, not to mention a good listening ear when she needed it. In doing so they forged a strong friendship, and she could visibly see his body stiffen less and less as the days went by. Although that might be due to the fact that she’d stepped up to help with the child rearing. Not that she could blame him. Parenthood was new to him, and as a first time parent it was all a learning process. One that Palila was happy to assist with.
“I take it that Desiderius has run off again?” speak of the devil.
“He has but that’s okay. We both know he doesn’t run off far. I’ll find him. You go do what you need to in order to continue securing your territory.”
With a short nod Hallows was off, and Palila watched him melt into the shadows until he couldn’t be seen anymore. The mare shook her shoulders and began walking once more, calling out to the young colt to encourage him to come out of hiding.
“Des! If you’re playing hide and seek you know I’ll find you.”
No response as was to be expected. This was the first time he'd done this to his father and her and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
With a soft chuckle Palila tried again, "Des, if you come out we'll have an awesome picnic with snacks down by the waterfalls."
Best way to encourage a small foal, especially a young colt that is growing up incredibly fast? Food. It was always food. It never let her down before with others and she was sure it wouldn't fail her now. And besides, it was almost lunchtime. Nobody could resist the call of decent food and good conversation. Palila was no exception to this rule either.

Desiderius had decided to run away. It wasn't the first time he'd tried this, but those other times didn't count. They were just practice. He wasn't very far from home -- yet! -- but he was just taking a break to decide where he was going to go. Definitely somewhere with other foals so they could be his friends. The only others here were boring adults and that annoying bat, which was no fun at all. He guessed Palila wasn't so bad, at least she would play with him sometimes, but she was still a grown up. He met foals occasionally when he ran away, and that was usually pretty fun, but he rarely saw them more than once and none of them ever stuck around. He wasn't sure if it was because of him, if their family moved on, or maybe his dad chased them off to protect their stupid territory to make sure nothing interesting ever happened.
The sound of footsteps crunching leaves caught his attention, and he quickly dove into a nearby bush to hide. He didn't want his dad to find him and ruin his running away plans. Desiderius huddled down, trying to keep as quiet as he could to not draw any attention to his hiding spot. The sound of Palila's voice made his ears perk up, and he almost walked out to meet her until he remembered he was supposed to be running away. No! She would just take him back home again and that isn't what he wanted at all. There was nothing she could say to change his mind!
Although... a picnic sounded good. He liked going for a swim by the waterfalls. As if on cue, his stomach grumbled at the promise of snacks. Besides, he could always run away later... it would be smart to come up with a plan first. Yeah, he couldn't leave yet! Coming out from the bushes, he followed the sound of Palila's voice and trotted over to her once he spotted that familiar shade of pink. "Can we go for a swim too? After we eat, I'm really hungry."

Palila smiled as she turned to the colt coming out of his hiding place and trotting over to her side, “As long as you eat all your vegetables as we review your memory of plant identification you’re more than welcome to swim afterward. Keeping your muscles warm and strong is just as important as your knowledge basis.”
She hummed as she spun towards where they were going to be headed, already hearing the soft falls of water hitting the rocks, “Come along dear one. The sooner we start the sooner you can have fun.”
Palila knew he wouldn’t be thrilled at her words as she once was a small filly dealing with much of the same sorts of lessons. But she also knew they were necessary if not even more important. Desiderius was the oldest son, and as long as he grew into his adulthood with a sound mind, he would become one of the next primary protectors of the budding herd lands Hallows was carving out for himself. There were subtle concerns that he may not fit what was needed to be that primary protector, but Palila hoped that with time, his over the top rambunctiousness and desire to run would simmer down and be filtered into a more controlled tactical like mind. So, if he wasn’t the right stallion to be a protector, he could still assist with herd matters. Alas, Desiderius was still young enough that he could be guided, so she wasn’t too worried yet.
“I’ve got some of your favorite foods you should enjoy as we chat,” she encouraged, “I promise I’m not terrible company.”
