Like his brothers, Serghei is incredibly smart. Most of theirs, however, came from general knowledge and “street smarts”, where Serghei learned best from the many books in the family library. He knows a ton of random factoids and can almost always figure out solutions through extensive research.

Unlike most of his family, Serghei is a rather creative person. He’s fascinated by art and design of all sorts. From unique glass pieces to interesting paintings, he enjoys it all. He’s never had much time to try creativity for himself, but when he gets the chance, it’s fun to try.

Serghei often finds himself resolving problems by breaking them down to their base components, then solving it like a complex maths equation. He is skilled with maths and has gotten even more skilled over the years.

Serghei has always been one for researched debates, and his practice in Law class only made him stronger. He’s never one to start an argument unless he has the research to back up his standpoint. He’s also learned to debate topics he disagrees with, though usually with a hair less passion.

If cleanliness is next to godliness, then Serghei may as well be the god on top. He’s always in well-pressed suits, hair in perfect order, and no speck of dirt to be found. He focuses on making sure he looks perfectly tidy every step of the way.

Even though Serghei was raised in a wealthy family, he often finds himself dreaming of life in other families. His own wasn’t exactly the best, and for his early years, he was teased relentlessly for enjoying art and creative things. It wasn’t until someone else came along to torment that he got a break. But even then... wouldn’t it be nice to be somewhere that people just got along?

Serghei was born the sixth son (of seven) to Markus and Inova Antonov. It was rough growing up with so many brothers, especially in such a hostile environment. They all loved to fight, and his only hope to be included was to learn to fight as well. After all seven boys had been established, their family was rocked hard by a government official saying that Markus had another child. Apparently the parents knew that part. Another son from Wales.

The fact that surprised all of them was that the other son... wasn’t a son at all. It was a little girl. Apparently her mom had passed, so she was being given to the Antonovs. Oh boy. It didn’t take any time at all before the bullying turned on the girl. Too small, too weak to defend herself. Unlike Serghei, even Mother and Father didn’t even try to defend the girl. In fact, the boys were often encouraged to injure her further.

Serghei didn’t want to be a jerk to her, but he also didn’t want to get the heck beat out of him. He participated, though to the minimal extent required by the other boys. Even at things like dinner, where it was first-come first served, Serghei noticed the older boys taking seconds and thirds. Of course, rules dictated that Llewella serve last, and only after the boys had gone. Eventually... she learned to hide. He was pretty sure it was to save her own life from this nightmare. Then again, without her around, they went back to tormenting Serghei and Demyan... at least until Demyan started fighting back.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before Serghei was invited to join Durmstrang along with his brothers. An honor amongst the Antonovs, who had been going there since the school’s inception. He was fitted for his fancy gear and sent off, leaving only the oldest three and his younger brother home.

School proved a challenge, but he was placed in Keltainen for his creativity and ambition, which was pretty cool. He worked hard in classes, not wanting his family to find shame in him. Plus, he rather enjoyed the challenge.
Over the holidays, it was back to the same routine. Study, keep up with sports and activities, bully Llewella (because that was apparently natural rhythm), and try not to get himself in trouble. One year, the older boys had thrown Llewella out the third story window and into the deep snow. She was immediately swallowed by the cold. Serghei tried to object, but the older boys threatened to throw him in the snow as well. They would, given they knew Serghei had been afraid of freezing to death since he was a toddler.
So it remained a cycle this way, until he was in fifth year. Llewella was sent to Hogwarts while the boys headed to Durmstrang, which made the others happy. Of course, she wouldn’t have been invited to Durmstrang. Serghei was pretty sure the Romanian Ministry didn’t even know she existed. But when they got back home for winter break, it was to a new home. They were sternly told that Llewella had “gone”, without much else. None of the younger boys opted to question this, of course.
But life pushed on, so Serghei continued to try his best in school, hoping to impress his family eventually.
