Qadir slithered along the road at a leisurely pace, enjoying the sun beating down on his dark scales. It was finally starting to feel like spring with the chilly rain and muddy season just about over and done with. Summer was just around the corner and the weather was starting to reflect that. His serpentine body soaked in every ray possible, the oil-slick scales shining magnificently in the sun. He'd only recently been able to ditch the heavy leathers and furs he wore during the colder months, once again able to let his hood have access to fresh air. It truly was a glorious day, and one that had the potential to only get better. He was on his way to his favorite hunting grounds, ready to catch himself dinner and enjoy roasting it over a fire back home. But half the fun of hunting was the journey to and from the fields that he frequented, enjoying the weather and the wildlife that he saw along the way.
A startled yelp around the bend in the road made him pause, though. That certainly wasn't normal. And the more he listened, the more he realized there were other noises as well. Paws on the ground, growls in the air...wolves. And someone surely being harassed by them.
Qadir drew the two swords he kept on his hip at all times as he quickened his pace, rounding the bend in the road to see what was going on. Just as he thought, a group of five wolves had surrounded a pale Naga, teeth bared and muscles tensed, ready to attack. He wouldn't stand for that!
"Hey!" he yelled, hopefully to distract the creatures. It did the trick, all five of them taking their gaze off their target to look at him instead. By then he was already within striking distance of the first wolf which bounded out of the way just in time. Qadir still caught the beast with the blade of one sword, though he doubted it would kill the wolf. The yelp that left it let him know he'd hit it, hopefully enough to send it running with its tail tucked between its legs.
