President Nona Nipal nee Winchester

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Status: Conducting

Nona Nipal took a long drag on a hand-rolled smoke while she looked from one operative to the next. Standard three-man cell, but this one felt different. None were Unitan SeeD in proper terms. When she came to Yukiko, she had a familiar, crooked smile for the young woman. Nona had watched over and raised Yukiko in her own home for years now. She had no idea how a girl that well-balanced came from a family like that. Rem had said it was Kalen’s influence back when, but Nona had never been sure.

Speaking of oddballs, the redhead with the hammer was willing to support even without that personal connection. Nona had only a professional acquaintence with Robin, but the woman was frighteningly strong- a trait the President admired. Nona weighed her with a curious look. She was a trusted associate of Tilmitt, which was good enough for her. Nona didn’t trust Koyuki’s judgment of character as far as she could throw it, but Selphie had always proven a reliable head, despite her childishness.

And oddest of all…Kyng. Eren Kyng was treated once more to the President’s weighing stare. Every time she looked at him, it felt like he was taking a test he hadn’t studied for.

She wouldn’t send him on a suicide mission just to get him away from her daughter…right?

”The three of you are here because you volunteered your services to aid Unita,” Nona informed, ensuring each member of the cell knew that they were here for the same reasons. ”For this, you have my personal gratitude, as well as your usual pay.” Their support meant more resources could be spared on restoration at home.

”We’ve been contacted by one of the resistance groups in Timber- the Forest Owls. They speak on behalf of a number of groups within the city. The G-Army has stepped up its occupation and are reportedly planning to exterminate rebel cells within the city.” IE, genocide which would conveniently leave all the buildings and machines free for Galbadians to move in and take over.

”You will be operating under the orders of the Owls, under the guise of being fellow rebels. Your goals are to protect the resistance members, drive the G-Army out of the city, and above all else maintain secrecy. If any members of the team are caught or killed, you will be disavowed by Unita.” The President sat back against her desk and puffed smoke out her nostrils like a dragon.

”Any questions?”

"A three-man Cell to drive the Galbadian Army out of the city? This battle has been entrenched for what, twenty, forty years? This is gonna run Unita a lot for my pay, Lady President." Not that she was wrong to hire the younger Anundr. With such duties the only sensible thing was to hire out a First-Class SeeD like herself. "Hope you got a good down payment, and considered the extra-expenditures." Robin was always proud of the work she had put in to earn such a large price-tag, and despite the seeming arrogance, it was a fair warning of the cost.

Besides, Genocide was only true if everyone within the city was part of a Resistance Cell. She doubted even Galbadian's were so crazy, however her real concerns as to why she put up with that she knew Galbadian was only wanting to tie up loose ends. Both Esthar and Unita had serious internal issues, and other hold outs like Balamb could not withstand a full martial invasion. Timber was a stepping stone, and she knew it, and to keep Esthar safe it had to stand, at least for a time.

"I got a few. First off, how we getting into Timber? Second, what do you mean 'secrecy', like our activities on the downlow or our identities, or both?" That last one was a bit of a bigger concern considering Robin herself was fond of explosions, Yukiko used grenades and one of the loudest kind of guns as her weapon, and Eren was a loudmouth idiot. "And could you not smoke around me? It's bad for mah lungs." Which were crucial in any proper body building routine unlike you were resorting to roids.

"Oh, and extraction. If the resistance gets eliminated despite our intervention, I assume we're on on own, right? Further, are we the first vanguard and more SeeD will be sent to make this reasonable, or is this mission a long haul?"

The young man stood pensive, eyes looking downward while thoughts crossed across him. Since Rem had left and he had seen her off on the train towards Winhill, leaving to study with that silver haired man who glared at him. Eren had no idea, but there was nothing much he could do there, all he said was that he would see her when he sees her and he hoped she was safe. Not much detail had been spared by Rem, not that Eren minded. It wasn't like she owed it to him or anything. They had danced and had a wonderful night, but then it was back to business. Esthar was fallen, and Eren needed a paycheck to pay debts from family past. So it made all the more sense for him to relocate to UNITA, as he had all his worldly possessions in the hotel room he occupied during the Grand Concert. Of course, he would miss space. It was something that he relished in and dreamed of maybe one day to travel the stars, but a paycheck was needed and he needed to have a base of operations. Perhaps one day they would get to space again.

Now he stood here, with a familiar red head who he KNEW was mad that he had transferred, and a silver haired girl, looking onward at the President of UNITA who continued to stare daggers through his soul. Like any young man faced with the imperial, scarred gaze of Nona Winchester Nipal, Eren stared until he couldn't anymore, lowering his gaze to where it was now. She had stared at him for a minute once she had made her appearance, and normally Eren would ask "Da ******** you lookin' at, old bag?!" But considering this was the PRESIDENT, and mother of Rem...yeah, for some reason, Eren knew that was not an option. Call it a hunch, if you will. An educated guess. Divine thought.

"Other 'n what Miss Anundyr asked, how reliable can we 'xpect any assistance from UNITA or, like wha' Robin said, are we jus' on our own?" Slowly, he raised his face to look at Nona again, mustering up some kind of courage. "I ain' gonna be dyin' muh hair, so I'll just give it a good ol' shave. Grow back fast anyway."

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═✥═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

She couldn't have been happier in her life than in this moment. While she never held the same fiery retoric that her fellow Trabians displayed towards blatant hatred towards Galbadia, she had no qualms equally delivering destruction down upon them. She had seen the old war videos, the destruction and aftermath of Trabia Garden after the missile barrage. Never again would that be allowed to happen without them regretting it. While it was true that Galbadia had the advantage in tech, the same could have been said in the prior wars, only outdone by Esthar Garden, it only took a small rebellion to truly cripple the great nation. Perhaps another one was needed again, to remind them.

So of course, she took this job, willing to be that reminder that they did not have absolute authority, that she wouldn't let it slide. She was prepared to kill for it, having been trained for this day since the beginning of her birth. When it came time for questions to be asked, Yukiko shook her head, and waited till everyone else said their piece before she did herself. "None from me."

President Nona Nipal nee Winchester

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Status: Conducting

”All that matters is whether you can get the job done,” Nona answered Robin’s concerns about money. SeeD weren’t cheap. But when you needed them, nothing else would do.

”You will be delivered to Dollet, then take the train to Timber,” she explained, pushing forward a dossier folder on her desk. The trio could look through details as they pleased. ”Secrecy here means concealing your identities. Unita cannot afford to provoke a Galbadian response.” She snorted like a bull. SeeD were supposed to be an independent faction, separate from the governments of their countries as well as accepting consequences for their own activities. She could remember days in Dollet, fighting the G-Army. No secret they were SeeD; they wore the Balamb uniform at the time. But the top dog never felt like they needed to play by the rules; Galbadia would take any excuse to crush another nation.

At Robin’s request, she took one last drag on her joint before smothering it in an ash tray.

”As for extraction, the resistance members in Timber will take care of you. Virtually every soul in that town is part of one group or another. They’ll get you out of the town.”

Kyng, on the other hand…

"Da ******** you lookin' at, old bag?!"

She looked at him like she heard his thoughts.

And she smiled.

”As of now, you three are the full extent of this task,” she answered. Rather than the condescension Eren expected, she took his questions seriously. Nona pushed herself up from the desk, coming ‘round to its front. ”We are already providing your services at a significant discount. The people of Timber are not wealthy.” The prosperity of their town had been flowing straight to Galbadia’s pockets for the last twenty years. Such was the case with all empires- to extract the resources from conquered foes for the benefit of the rulers. She moved from Eren to Yukiko, turning her weighing look on the girl.

Yukiko’s determination earned another smile from Nona. The girl had come a long way since the peculiar child that was dropped off on her doorstep. She was a SeeD, a friend to Unita, and she had a good head on her shoulders. Nona had done her best to treat the girl like another daughter.

”This is a lot to ask, even from SeeD,” the President agreed. ”However, your task is not to defeat the entire Galbadian army on your own. Your goal is to make occupying Timber so agonizing, so expensive, so goddamn frustrating that it costs more than it’s worth to hold onto.” And with that in mind, she had a feeling these three were perfect for the job. Nona picked up something else off her desk and presented it to Yukiko- a slender printed manual marked with the symbol of a golden circle. The Unbroken. Beneath it were three words.

THE ANARCHIST’S HANDBOOK

”This is a copy of a manual I put together when fighting against Galbadia. Every plan, trick, and device needed to carry out guerilla operations against a larger force.” It had been edited and cleaned up, turned into a manual on how to fight an empire. Just flipping through it, Yukiko found maps, tactical plans, guidelines on stealth and disguises, exploitable weaknesses in modern military equipment and training, methods to obtain and maintain equipment when low on materials, and a concerning number of recipes for improvised explosive devices. Nona Nipal was President of Unita. Nona Winchester was a rebel.

”I was born and raised in Timber,” she said in a more personal tone, once more meeting each operative’s eye. ”I have friends there. Family. The people of Timber and this book are the best asset you could ask for. They don’t need an army to fight for them. They need someone who can be the biggest pain in the a** Galbadia has ever known.”

And for that job, these three were perfect.

She stepped back and picked up the dossier again, holding it out to Robin.

”Anundyr will be squad leader for this mission. In this folder are your orders, contract, instructions on how to contact Unita if needed, and all the information I can provide on the resistance movement without compromising identities. Read it, remember it, burn it before you leave.” Once done, she folded her hands behind her back and stepped back in front of her desk.

”It’s been a hard time for us all. But you are SeeD special forces. The finest fighters this world has to offer. Unita and I have every faith in you.

“Dismissed.”

"Understood, ma'am. We'll give'm hell." She wondered if Nona or Unita was going to make the difference in Robin's pay. Either way, she was getting her bag. She gave the Lady President a salute, before taking the dossier and opening it to give it a brief summary. Code words, dead drops, anonymous messaging and such that had a few redundancies if basic methodology failed. Robin gave a small nod as they were dismissed, scanning through the folder again and again to gather most of the small details.

Once outside of the lady presidents office, Robin turned towards her party. "I need a disguise. I was front page during the last two concerts, and Galbadia will know who I am pretty easily." The red head was focusing on Yukiko. See, Robin wasn't really a girly girl. She had been raised to handle business, be the strongest and smartest in the room. Fashion and changing her look just wasn't in her wheel house. Now making ad-hoc grenades was, she didn't even need the Anarchist's Handbook for making improvised explosives. Honestly she probably knew a few ways Nona didn't with access to Esthar materials for so long.

"You wouldn't happen to be able to help with that, would ya sweetheart?"

Hearing Nona's orders as well as receiving her manuel on guerilla warfare, Yukiko flipped open the book and began to briefly skim over some of what it had to offer. With various instructions and detailed maps laying out the city of Dollet, she felt incredibly appreciative of the book and smiled to her pseudo god-mother. "I'll be sure to put this into good use." She reassured Nona.

Her attention turned to Robin, who all but seemed to get the impression that Yukiko was someone who was fashionable. A compliment perhaps, but she was as much a country girl as could be. She idly scratched the side of her head, holding the manual up against her side with the other hand. "Well. I'll see what I can do to help out. Though, I am sure we could just ask a stylist to some work on our hair. It'll be better that way."

--------------

From that point, the briefing all but settled, and they were off towards Dollet after the three were prepared for their journey. Yukiko had been deep into the manual, reading over tactics and tips that Nona left. During the travel, Yukiko brought up an idea to them. "So while we are in Dollet, do you think we should sabotage the railway while we are making our way to Timber? Like blow up the rail tracks after the train gets a certain distance from the satchel charges I can make? Or perhaps sabotage a signal tower of theirs so that communication between Galbadia and Timber is limited?" She had been musing over the manual, and many tactics included destabilzing border cities to prevent forces from effectively amassing. Destroying supply routes, jamming comms, taking out key figures. All of these things were necessary in war, but there also came the risk of being caught in Galbadia and that would cause a dangerous retaliation most likely if it ever came back to Trabia and Unita.

Robin had not gone to see a stylist. She had simply gone for a business woman aesthetic and it turned out she hated the business skirt. But it would be what she would endure for the betterment of the people. "It'll draw attention to the rail lines. We probably don't want Galbadia to be putting any extra scrutiny on our travel route. Beyond that, we'll be doing damage to Dollet that way anyways, and it's already likely on Galbadia's chopping block. Them using terrorism to move in on Dollet right now is only gonna make our job worse."

"I like your initiative though. But we're not independent operators on this, or at least not yet. We should focus on routing and memorizing the city layout more than anything as of the moment. We don't know what the Owls are planning, or want us to do. More importantly, we don't know the extent that Galbadia is planning. A errant strike may cause retaliation the resistance isn't prepared for."

Eren shivered, Nona's look having done nothing but realize he was heard...somehow.

Gulping, he looked back down again, placing his hands in his pockets while continuing to listen to the briefing. Well, at least she was listening to him and responded in kind. Being annoying is something I'm very good at, at least. He bemused, closing his eyes in thought. Only as he opened, did she bequeth them a handbook that he recognized the symbol on the opening. "Haven' seen tha' symbol in years, I reckon." He muttered, standing up and looking over the contents after Yukiko was done with it. "I'll just shave muh head, make it easier 'n hidin' pink hair." Hopefully Rem wouldn't mind. "I don' think shavin' will look as good on you tho, Rob." He had already shaved his dome, stubble all that remained as he took on a black sweatshirt, and brown pants with matching black military boots. His gauntlets rested on his hands as he listened. "Maybe not a train, but there are sure's hell got ta be transports for their supplies, right? After they arrive by train. Cut out supplies and reinforcements 'n whatnot."

She gave Robin a nod, understanding the reasoning and why it was more of a pain than it was worth investing time into. Better to plan with the owls as she suggested. Once she knew more about a battle plan with them, then perhaps explosives would become necessary. Either way, she was left to ponder upon the train about their plan to find the owls. At the very least, she felt confident having Robin around, someone who was comparable in strength to Tsitsho, and the durability of Babel. All she had to do was support Robin, and provide her with the right kind of tools for the job. Thankfully with the monster hordes that came, Yukiko had spent those days taking what she could from the corpses. By the time she had finished, she had not only restocked up on the materials she used, but had an abundance of more material to use. She wouldn't be hurting for awhile, which was the only positive thing to happen in Unita, if she could only find one slight good thing that would come from the tragedy. She'd make the sacrifices count.

By the time they arrived in Timber, Yukiko had also acquired a business suit of her own, wearing a silver jacket, black dress shirt, a scarf around her neck, and a silver skirt and a pair of heels to match. She held the perfect prestine image of a secretary, and appeared as such. She looked to the other two, looking over at Robin and smiling. "You look nice~!"

Robin smiled heavenly at Yukiko as she spoke. "Ain't you sweet. Thank ya." She replied. "You're looking mighty fine yourself. Unlike..." She trailed off, but gave Eren a long cold look over. Perhaps he was going for homeless hairless mole rat, if so he was pretty on point, but otherwise she was interrupted before anything followed that line of thought.

"Oh, the forests of Timber sure have changed, sir!" Spoke a man with a blue beanie and yellow jacket vest, to which the team leader responded. "But the Owls are still around." The man obviously looked over at someone else and nodded, before motioning the SeeDs over. "Sir, I'm glad you have finally arrived. Come with me." He then led them over to interior train stop, and a engine came pulling in shortly. Putting in a password, they opened a door and waited kindly for everyone to enter the train.

Now, there already wasn't a lot of individual space in this locomotive, but by the time the 6'1" Eren and 6'3" Robin had entered the vehicle, the damn thing seemed downright cramped and diminutive. The nearly foot smaller Yukiko as barely noticeable next to her compatriots. A older man in jorts and a jean jacket looked at them in disbelief for a moment. Once they were all aboard, they could feel the train start again and begin to move.

"Okay. Three SeeD. Yes. We can do this. You look like a small army already." He was more speaking to the big ones, but still. "We already have some plans prepared, come to the war room." He left the 'entry' area through the door on the left. Following him, it led to a fairly larger sideroom with a tactical board set up. "You may be surprised, but we have several insiders in the Galbadian military, and with their intel I think it's possible for you three to save Timber by assassinating President Breowitz. That is likely the only way to prevent the continued invasion of my home."

Yukiko grinned back at Robin when she complimented back at her, though she couldn't say she could compliment Eren's choice of attire. She could never conceive the thought of shaving her hair, so more power to him. Once they were about to move out though, Robin was spoken to by one of the people in the station.

Once Robin gave the code phrase, Yukiko followed along after the group, making their way into a rather small train; well, she was just fine, maybe not for the other two though. She gave a soft giggle at the sight of the two having to do so, but the happy smiling ended almost immediately when she heard what the resistance had in store for them. "H-Huh?!" She was caught off guard, baffled, and downright bamboozled by such a statement.

"I sure hope this isn't some suicide mission you've concocted up for us. We may be mercenaries for hire, but we aren't scapegoats." She needed clarification in this regard, because it certainly was a big ask for a political assassination. And they just had gone through an ordeal bad enough as is.

Eren continued to stand between the two, arms crossed as he looked out the window of the train that they were on. Their arrival was quiet, the two women next to him dressed rather nicely. Yukiko and Robin respectively wearing business suits made for their form, looking like they were on a proper business trip. Eren...well. He looked over the regular slacks, black long sleeve he wore and boots and grimaced as Robin made her remark about his appearance. His head was completely trimmed down in a buzz cut, looking the exact opposite of the two that stood next to him and basically looking homeless in comparison. Not that he had much choice, Eren didn't have much money to go around and buying nicer clothes even for a mission, having to go with the bare minimum. It would work, and the nice clothes would only get ruined as time went on.

It still didn't sit well with him, he could feel Robin and Yukiko's gaze upon him which forced him to let loose a disgruntled sigh, holding his arms tighter to him in discomfort. The clothes he wore now made him wish he had been wearing his worn fashion designer clothes, but it was far too late and the work to come would definitely ruin them further. Its only words, Eren. He told himself, not looking Robin in the eye as she continued to stare at him coldly. He was here for the job. Here for the money. He didn't have time to get into an argument with a team leader right now. Debts had to be paid and that required working despite that, even though he wanted to walk off and punch someone.

Robin spoke to the man and engaged with the password, allowing them to move onto the new train. The normally quippy man continued to stay silent, staring at the ground as if to glare a hole through it as he listened and only moved once the man brought up a single word. Assassinating? His eyes narrowed as he leaned back against the cabin door and stared at the man, not even giving Robin or Yukiko a glance. "Tha's insane." His voice finally spoke for the first time on this trip, littered with a heavy sense of incredulity, "You got a plan or just hopin' we eat s**t in your favor. Big Boss said to be an annoyance to the enemy, no' that we was gonna try'n lop the head off the damn snake." His gauntlet covered hands curled into fists. "Las' time somethin' like this happened, Gardens were destroyed in the last war and Galbadia almos' won outright."

Zone looked back at the two younger SeeD with a bit of disbelief. Backtalk already, he hadn't even given them the plan. "Well, of course we have a plan. You apparently don't think much of us, but the Forest Owls have been raising active resistance against Galbadia for over 40 years. We don't get to survive around here for running off half-cocked." The younger man in the yellow jacket spoke up. "Yeah, Zone took charge when my grand-parents were executed by Galbadia, and his parents. Yo-" "Easy, easy man. It's okay. These SeeD are big shots, we'll just have to give them the plan and see if they still think we're a joke."

A holographic display of Timber, and more importantly the train lines were brought up at the rest of the rooms lights were dimmed. "This is the railway lines. Over the last two weeks, President Breowitz has made over six train trips through this territory, and we believe even more so with Galbadia moving to secure final victory over the town. Our insider has reported in two days, Galbadian SeeD will enter the town to eliminate resistance higher ups. On the third day, they expect us to be so disrupted by their presence the President will be going through into Balamb. They've been having chats with the Headmaster and Governer there."

The display changed to show the predicated train route, and the 3 engine, 2 car security patrol the presidents car often traveled with. "Typically if we booby-trap the lanes the forward car will detect it, and they don't tolerate the approach of any rear vessel. So, we'll have to take a more dangerous approach. We've secured use of a plane, and you'll be performing a high altitude drop in wing suits to land on the rear security car. We'll be following at a distance and with synched timing burst jam any communications. You'll have around 30 seconds to clear the car of security. Once done, we can set the rear car to leave the lane, and you should be able to jump or grappling over to the main cars."

A three dimensional display of SeeD forces were shown performing this hypothetical action. "Once in, we'll accelerate our trailing train and perform a short range EMP. They'll likely have hardening and back up systems, but it's the best we can do to give you the time to break in and eliminate Breowitz. Once that's done you'll extract on our train and we'll get the hell out of there." Zone's nerves made his stomach begin to hurt, but he only put a hand on his gut for a moment before smiling proudly at the SeeD.

"Besides, last time we didn't have both Unita and Esthar prepared with anti-missile hardware. The world isn't the same as twenty years ago, you understand? We have a chance to severely impede Galbadia, and with success we'll have the standing to force them to retreat, or at least halt their operations. Lady Almasy doesn't have the balls to keep this sort of action up, and I don't think anyone else in the running for president has the ability to actually properly continue wartime maneuvers."

Status: Big Business SeeD Lady
Location: Raider: The Train of Resistance

Robin put her hands on her hips when she heard the initial idea of the plan, but unlike her subordinates didn't verbalize any doubt. Unlike them, she had read the fine details of the contract. They could absolutely be put up as scapegoats up to a point of necessity, but she wouldn't fight ideas being proposed. Not when she knew if they over stepped the bounds of the contract she could snap them out of whatever bad plan was brought up.

She wouldn't be too hard on the freshmen for their being taken aback. This was above their paygrade, no, she suspected this was the real reason a First-Class had been pulled for the job. You wanted a heavy hitter for this, and there were few better. Moving on, the red eyed woman stayed silent as Zone gave his break down of the plan.

"It's feasible. We'll have a short opportunity to drop before the plane is shot down, and knowing Galbadia they likely have old-fashioned back ups incase the power is taken. They could never keep up with Esthar's tech, so they tended to have callbacks prepared." She walked around the board, taking a moment to start tapping on the controls before one of the staff tried to stop her, before her free hand just held him at bay with awful ease. "Kyng, Rieko, you two will have thirty seconds to clear the rear vehicle and make sure our rear approach is clear and no alarms are raised."

The hologram example now only showed two SeeD dropping onto the rear car, with a third still hovering above. "There's no room for error. Once that thirty seconds is up, alarm or no, I will be landing on the presidential train to initiate the final sequence." The hologram showed the third SeeD land on the 3 car train that held the president, and then the two on the rear car jump to join them, while the Raider train pulled into blast their EMP. "If possible, a negative and mighty wall grenade on my descent would make my landing impact better."

The staff member gave up on trying to stop the amazoness, "It's likely that security on the president himself will be high level despite their confidence. I expect one or two first-class to be body guarding him, and the man himself has spent over 40 years in martial arts, so isn't quite the slacker himself unlike old Deling. Eren, I'll be wanting you to make the biggest, loudest, most distracting attacks you can. Yukiko, this will mostly be close combat business, so support will be your job, but if you can see a opening made between Eren and myself, take the shot. We'll solve the Breowitz problem this week." That wasn't including the likely soldiers if not B.I.E. operatives who would be playing support to their opposition, but that was a risk she was willing to take.

Her attention turned back to Zone. "And what did you want to do about the Galbadian SeeD? The last thing we need is to be tying to deal with would-be assassins after dealing with the President." Zone looked up at the red head. "Well, I was hoping to simply evade them before we got the job done, but I suppose I'll leave that up to you, Ms. Anundr." The man leaned over to push some buttons on the controls, and a imagine of three individuals appeared on screen.

"Three individuals, our Informant wasn't able to get their alias' they'd be taking for this mission, but we know who they really are. Raeka Everett-Maris, Mae Zeigmus and Nami Almasy. Our informant emphasized Nami was not to be seriously injured, but the other two could be eliminated. However I don't know if I want to deal with the blow back of Mr. Raeka's father, or Ms. Zeigmus' mother." "And I suspect sacrificing a smaller resistance organization is out of the question." "You're damn right, we're all ready to die for Timber. But I won't sacrifice anyone else..."

"But you'd be bait? You'd know the risks." Zone gave Robin a steely eyed gaze. "Yeah. We can't let would be assassins go free." Robin cast her eyes upon her subordinate. "Questions, anything to add?"
