Zelva was thrilled to hear from her dear friend Bahamas when he told her he wanted to hang out. Well, he'd said he had something to tell her, but Zelva figured it wasn't going to be too big of a thing. Even though they had children together, there had never been any bad feelings or anything. He was her friend, and a good one at that. He was always there for her when she needed someone to talk to. He was sweet, and caring. She could've seen herself mating to him, if she was the type, but Zelva had always been a very "go with the flow" kinda gal. She loved her freedom too much. They'd raised their foals, and then gone back to doing their own things, but still remained close. Well, when she wasn't riding currents anyways. She did a tight barrel roll as she came up to the surface, scanning their meeting place for any sign of her friend. She spotted Bahamas just walking up onto shore, and waved a flipper. "Hey!", she yelled before diving back underwater to swim faster. Zelva allowed the waves to wash her up onto the beach, then used her flippers to drag herself the rest of the way. "Hey you!", she laughed in greeting. WC: 213

Bahamas had readied himself for a fun-filled day of swimming with one of his best friends. Granted, he was more laid-back than his brother Caribbean, but he wouldn't pass another swim in the great blue. Zelva loved following the flow of the ocean, in which Bahamas would swim with no hesitation. Besides his brother and Vanmoriel, the laid-back Nixie held a special place in his heart for the easy-going seathi. They swam with the currents and watched the moonrise together. Their special feelings were precious. leading to their children who were currently seeking their own heart's desires. He hadn't seen Zelva in ages, so when he had sensed the currents brought her back this way, he jumped on the chance to catch up again. Bahamas was certain Zelva had stories to tell from her adventures in the vast ocean. As he galloped toward to surf he smiled to himself remembering when his brother used to trip over his tail. Chuckling to himself, Bahamas pulled into a trot, then a walk as the water cradled around him. Once he located the current, he could follow it to her location. Bahamas also had to remind himself of the news he'd have to break to Zelva. Momentarily, he wondered if she would be upset hearing his wonderful news. He'd never wanted to hurt her, even if his life depended on it. Floating out into the serene rocking of the waves, he followed the current till he reached his destination. Tail swaying, it propelled him out to the area where she could be found. The beach was serene when he walked up upon it. Shaking the water from his mane, it flowed with him like waves that caressed him when he swam in the deep. Turning his head right then left, Bahamas surveyed the surf for any sign of her, Perhaps he was early? The surf's ebb and flow seemed crystalline as they reached his ears. Then he saw her, hearing her voice as she called out. Smiling, Bahamas reared up in greeting, his strong tail, keeping his balance. "Hey there. I take it your journey went well?" he chuckled as he trotted toward her, eyes alit with happiness laying eyes upon her once more. WC: 371

Zelva laughed again as she waited for her friend to get closer. She didn't want their entire conversation to be yelled. She always laughed with Bahamas. He was fun and carefree, like her. It had been easy to be his friend, and to raise their children. Well, as far as he was concerned anyway. Their children, especially Eleuthera, could be a handful.
"It was good!", she told him. "The currents this time of year aren't too strong, so I was able to catch a few and just relax for a good chunk of the way. What about you? I hope it wasn't too far for you."
The sand was warm and comfortable, and even though the sun was high it wasn't overly hot. Zelva had figured they'd probably be more in the water than out of it regardless. Bahamas was one of the few she'd met that could keep up with her in the water. She didn't beat fins all the time, but it was nice to not feel like she had to hold back when she wanted to rocket through as fast as she could. Actually, Bahamas could give her a run for her kelp as far as out and out speed was concerned.

Bahamas realized his secret, that precious mystery hidden from Zelva, would soon surface. Thus, he decided to stall the ebb and flow of the inevitable. Ever since Caribbean had chosen his mate, he'd been off exploring a new future. This gave Bahamas time to collect his thoughts and grow out of his conch shell. Zelva helped him explore his newfound side of playfulness and happiness So, he found the perfect distraction knowing Zelva would be game for a good race in the wide-swept blue. "That's great" Bahamas smiled, "Since it's been quite a while... let's race to Eastern Sandbar" He smiled at her with a glimmer in those laid-back eyes, "Just you, the ocean, and I". Bahamas chuckled to himself hoping she'd take the bait. His real surprise wasn't the precious secret, it was who he was having Zelva meet when they reached the location finish. Bahamas was a sensitive nixie not wanting to destroy his friendship with the mother of his children. He was wanted her to be carefree and happy for him. Smiling to himself, he would love for a race between both mares he cared so much about. "One, two... three" he spoke aloud as he trotted into the ocean, "Bet, you can't catch me!" He then moved with the waves brushing him playfully away from her. WC: 220

Zelva was thrilled when Bahamas suggested a race. She loved racing! She hadn't been like other seathi. She had flippers and a shell, which helped her cut through the water faster, and maneuver easier. Being bald also helped her keep drag down to a minimum. Can't get your mane caught in anything if you don't have one! She'd always envied regular seathi for their tails though. Their beautiful, graceful tails made her insecure about her little one, that you could barely tell was there. Bahamas had a very impressive tail himself that acted like a rudder through the water, which was part of what made him a formidable racer. He could change direction pretty easily, so those tight turns were much easier for him. She laughed again, this time with an edge to it. Zelva was competitive, and hated losing, and Bahamas knew that too. "Alright! Just be prepared to lose!", she cackled. She followed him into the water, letting the waves take her further into the water so she could get enough room to maneuver. Once she found her bearings, she took off like a shot through the water towards their destination. Zelva was determined not to lose! WC: 199

Perfect. Bahamas didn't think she'd take off like a rocket propelling within the surf. Yet, she was passing him like a seagull nesting in the sand. Grinning, he set off after her like a sea creature of unbridled energy. The Nixie twins were born with unusual tails that the Bahamas used to hate passionately. However, as he grew into those strong legs, so did his tail strengthen into a device for racing. Til now he had thought of himself and Caribbean as oddities of the Nixie world. Turns out he was way wrong. Using his tail as a rudder as it snaked behind him, Bahamas moved like a speeding shark as the waves splashed around him. Ears back, he moved into a strong surge as he saw her ahead swimming with her ferocity. Bahamas moved even faster now, eyes capturing a glance at the giant light that burned in the sky. "She should be there when we arrive". he thought quietly to himself. Hair flowing behind him like his own constructed wave, Bahamas veered to the right so he would slide right up beside Zelva. Chuckling, he grinned as he was moved right beside her, "Almost there" he called out as he took off shooting through the surface again, waves parting as he moved to swim on his back, waving a hoof back to her. His tail moving faster now, he shot out in front assuring himself that he had this race within his hooves. It was an amazing day for a race. WC: 253

The water flowing around her felt as natural as breathing. The rush was exhilarating as Zelva sailed through the open water. Her heart was full. She closed her eyes, just enjoying the feeling of the water rushing past her.
And then Bahamas caught up with her. Cheeky guy. She nodded when he told her they were almost there, and then laughed again when he shot past her. This was why they were friends. "Oh, you're gonna eat kelp!", she hollered, putting on a burst of speed.
Unfortunately for Zelva's pride, Bahamas made it there first. It was close, but his lead had gotten him too far ahead, and it was just that little bit that kept her from overtaking him. As she pulled herself up onto the beach, Zelva noticed a stranger there. She looked to Bahamas, "Looks like we have company."

Bahamas never lost, though his emotions were betraying him right now. Just as he had asked Antigua to join them, she had. Standing aside the beach was a small, delicate nixie much lighter than Bahamas ' swept hues. She appeared excited to meet Zelva since she had heard tales of Bahamas heroic races against the Loggerhead Seathi. He spoke highly of Zelva Antigua had followed Bahamas request perfectly. She had searched for shells creating Zelva a keepsake she could always treasure. She hoped she wasn't imposing since they were best friends. Bahamas on the other hand after winning his race heard Zelva's voice. Then reality bit him in the rump, it was time to tell Zelva the secret he kept safe. Calmly, he walked over to stand next to Antigua, "Zelva, this is Antigua. Antigua, this is Zelva". He then shook the water from his mane, letting it sway back and forth as if it was animated the way it moved. As it curled back in place, Bahamas cleared his throat. "She's my chosen mate" Bahamas feared her reaction, but he hoped she wouldn't be cross with him. WC: 187

Zelva watched in mild confusion as Bahamas walked up to the mare, but then her confusion turned to amusement as he introduced Antigua to her. His mate. So that's what all this was about; Bahamas had found a mate. He seemed pretty nervous, which he shouldn't have been. Zelva wasn't the jealous type in the least. What she and Bahamas had had was beautiful, and gave her their wonderful children, but he was her best friend and she was nothing but pleased for him. It was, however, extremely amusing that he had thought he had to keep this secret from her, and go to all of this trouble just to introduce the lovely mare to her.
Looking at them both, she noticed something in front of Antigua. It looked to be a trinket of some kind, made of shells. She knew then that Bahamas had asked his lady if she would make something for Zelva, probably to try and "soften the blow". Sweet, thoughtful Bahamas. There was no blow to soften, but he wanted to be kind all the same. He really was the best friend she could've asked for. Pulling herself closer, Zelva bobbed her head in greeting to Antigua. "It's a pleasure to meet you. And, I'm guessing this is for me. Thank you, Antigua, it's lovely", she said. She'd make sure to take it with her when they left so she could take it to the lagoon she lived in to keep it safe.
"And it seems congratulations are in order! I'm really happy for you, Bahamas. Happy for you both", she told them with genuine happiness. While finding a mate wasn't on Zelva's to-do list yet, she was thrilled for her friend to have met someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. She was glad he shared his secret with her, even if he hadn't needed to keep it a secret.

As the tension bubbled within, Bahamas doubts turned to his confusion. He'd been so distraught about upsetting Zelva, it had turned out to be positive. Being his best friend, Bahamas wanted to share everything with Zelva, regardless of the circumstances. Now, he stared in disbelief as Zelva laughed, congratulating him on his achievement. Best friends are always happy for one another because they understand the other individual so much. Now, his ears swayed smoothly feeling a little ashamed she might have been disappointed. Antigua on the other hand knew all along that Zelva would accept the news like a refreshing wave. She'd heard tales of their adventures, the closeness they held for one another. Zelva seemed the type to accept what the future held, swimming forward and just living life, whatever washed toward her. Antigua herself was overjoyed to meet Zelva as she smiled wildly, "It's wonderful to meet you Zelva! I've heard so much about you." she beaned her smaller fin-like tail swaying in her enthusiasm. When she was asked about the keepsake, she nodded, "Yes! Bahamas knew you'd love a small trinket since it's my favorite pastime finding beautiful shells". She blushed giggling as she looked toward Bahamas, "I found a unique shell, that's for sure". Bahamas chuckled, "More like the other way around". He then turned to Zelva, "I just wanted to share my happiness with you, after a thrilling race of course". He then looked toward the horizon, "It's getting late". He then walked over nuzzling Zelva as he had always greeted her warmly, "Next time we're in the area, I'll send out a message for you. I'm sure you'll want a rematch again" he chuckled thinking of their adventures together Antigua stepped forward smiling, "I'm not as fast as Bahamas, but I wouldn't mind a fun race". She then nodded her head, "Besides, I know where all the best places are for shells and gems. I'd love to show you sometime when we run into each other again. We're heading to the western Ocean for an adventure. His bother Caribeean has been spotted along the coast". She then walked over in her style giving a nuzzle to Zelva, "It was lovely meeting you Zelva. Look us up again when you're in the area". She nipped at Bahamas' flank, "Sun is setting... we need to get back to your mom's grotto and get ready". Bahamas nodded, shaking his long mane, "Take care bestie. Till we meet in the surf again" One more muzzle, Bahamas whispering, "Thank you... for everything". Then he trotted after Antigua as they headed toward the ocean, heading toward the dazzling sunset as it shimmered around them. ~FinWC: 445
