Quote: The weather is turning but mother nature has one last hurrah in store - it seems she has mustered up a blizzard that's blown down from the mountains and over the majority of the Kawani lands. This is highly unusual for this time of year, it seems winter was not ready to let go! How does your soquili fair in this blizzard? Do they see the signs early and manage to avoid it completely? Do they seek shelter in time and wait it out? Do they find themselves stranded and in danger? Do they fend for themselves or do they help others around them?

Harper flitted from branch, to branch, checking on the inhabitants of the large tree. The blizzard had been brutal, it had been all she could do to hunker down with the squirrels at the base of the tree, trying to keep her and them safe and out of the element while the wind howled and the snow weighed the tree down. It had been quite the ordeal when the tree shuddered and branches could be heard crashing down. The sound ricocheting through her bones. She had mad the critters promise to stay in the protection of the burrow while she went to make sure others were okay. Using her talons, she dug out of the compact drift that had formed to block them in. She was met with sharp, angry wind that trapped her breath in her lungs. Bracing herself firmly she willed herself to her larger size, pressing her gauzy flutter wings tight to her sides, hoping to keep them from getting frostbite as she navigated the harsh, white landscape. Her home was nearly unrecognizable, everything covered the way it was and trees weighed down heavily. She scanned the forest for the branches she’d heard, finding them haphazardly around her. There were more than she had thought and her heart stuttered in her chest, looking up to take inventory of their tree. She clicked her beak and got to work, first checking the felled branches for anyone who may be hurt. There were a few, so delicately she picked up her friends and brought them to the burrow at the base, instructing the squirrels there to team up and help get the injured warmed up. When she was sure no one was left in the snow or pinned, she turned her attention back to the tree. Bracing herself she moved closer to the trunk, out of the pressing wind. Becoming small so she could fly wasn’t exactly a good idea in this weather, but she wouldn’t be able to check on anyone any other way. Before she could think any further about it, she was shrinking and the world around her became enormous once again. Luckily the path the branches took were easy to follow - even better there wasn’t anyone who needed her help. Harper did stop at a few knolls to let the inhabitants know where they could find their family member when the storm faded and they could navigate the world again. Sighing, her breath puffed around her in a cloud and dissipated to join the blizzard. Maybe it was her imagination but it did seem to be slowing down.
A short time later and Harper was back in her burrow at the base of her tree. There was a smidge less room in it now, with the additional occupants. She made sure she barricaded the door the rest of the way and hunkered back down, her back once again to the entrance. “Let’s hope the rest of this is uneventful, eh?” She was met with soft chiters and sleepy nods as she tucked them all in.
