So, everyone has their own taste in men, and Bishounen are no different. Some defy the literal definintion completely guys like Auron and Vegeta are not by any stretch of the imagination 'beautiful(effeminately) youth's yet both of these (very masculine) men are dubbed bishies by large followings of fangirls. So where does your taste run?

 I like boys who are tall, with broad shoulders tapering to narrow hips. They should have a well-defined musculature but not overly bulky. The model of my minds eye would have this build, butt length silky black hair and emerald eyes. Sephiroth is the most muscled Bishounen I am attracted to, and he breaks a few of my preferred attributes and is my Favorite picture of absolute Bishounenity despite that. Louie breaks my rule of not liking blue eyes, but his hair, sexy frame and personality override that minor fault. I don't like Cloud or Rufus for the simple reason I distaste blonde hair and blue eyes, they are also scrawny (though it doesn't particularly bug me, most of my boyfriends have been rather lanky, tallness>muscles in my taste) and have short hair. I like hair long and straight (D makes #2 on my bishie hierarchy and blatantly breaks the straight hair rule). Though a lot of my favorite bishies have cold reserved personalities, I actually prefer Louie's friendly out going happy go luckiness in guys, though a tinge of angst is always nice as it shows some depth. However there is still something to be said about my top three bishies and their cold seemingly emotionless exteriors, and the way their intense glares seem to reach one's soul. Intensity is a good thing! I have enough of it myself that my guy has got to match me for it 3nodding

My definition should have first and foremost: SILVER HAIR!
And then, bangs. Bangs or spiky hair is a MUST. I just don't think they look all that great without hair hanging in their face. There are a couple exceptions, but those have long spiky hair. (Axel and Zack.)
And then, just general bishounenity. Like, the actual term. Pretty, beautiful men. Or boys, like Riku. And Sora from .hack >.< he's only in fourth grade. Doesn't look like it though. I do draw the line of prettyness, though. I still like crossdressers, provided that they don't have womanly voices. That's just creepy. But guys who look like girls... heart As long as you can still tell that they are indeed guys. Some examples of the kind of men/bishies unattractive to me: Nuriko (Waaaay too much like a woman), Loz (too manly, and he doesn't have bangs), Cid(too manly), Barret(scary! I mean, uh, too manly), um.... and here I start drawing a blank. 'Cause in most animes, guys are pretty whthere they're supposed to be or not, so...
Oh, and there is one thing that can make up for the lack of good looks: Insanity. Two prime examples would be Kefka and Albedo. Kefka's awesomely, amazingly insane and funny, heart , and Albedo is more insane than Kefka. In fact, Albedo just scares me, 'cause I swear he's a ***** and I know he's a masochist, but he has silver hair, so...
Anyway, o'course my top favorite bishie is SEPHIROTH!!! He's not necessarily pretty, but compared to real men he is. He's just hot, and has long silver hair and BANGS! And pretty green eyes that randomly change from aqua to green, and a REALLY long sword and he's INSANE!!! 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh

 *gawd, I hope that pic shows up...most of mine don't, hehe* Well, by bishie list is as follows: 1. Vincent Valentine. Why? What's not to love? Long, flowy black hair and a red cape. Deep crimson eyes. And his gun pwns yew. 2. Sephiroth. Why? WHY?! What sort of question is THAT!!?? His bangs, the color of his hair, his malicous laugh and lets not forgot that line from AC: On your knees, I want you to BEG for forgivness! Oh, and his sword...gawd. 3. Kadaj. Why? Silver hair. Nuff said. 4. Riku (KH1 and KH2) Why? Well...he has silver hair...and in KH2...LONG SILVER HAIR...!1!! *dies* 5. Cloud. Why? Blue eyes. Blonde spikey hair. Gah. 5. Zack. Why? Because I SAID SO. Creamy white skin and dark hair with blue eyeeeeess. sweatdrop

Yeah, silver hair is DEFINITELY the way to go. xd Oh, and if you look at wikipedia's entry for bishounen, the most interesting thing is the part where they give examples. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishounen They include Final Fantasy and Kingdom hearts in it, and there are only 8 examples! Goes to show how many people like those bishies. xd xd

I like my bishies pretty, with silver, black, red or blue hair. And they can't have plain hair, either. Spiky, fluffy, whatever. They also must have pretty eyes ^_^ I like the really girly ones, too, but their VA's iratate me unless its in Japanese.*shudders when i think of Jakotsu's english VA* Crossdressers, femmboys, cute boys, Sexy but still effeminant and/or has awesome hair....that's what I like.^_^
I don't like the masculine ones, though, in real life and in anime/manga/video games. I think their ugly, which is why Loz, Dokugakuji, and anything from Dragon Ball Z won't ever make the bishie cut for me.
Also, if their hair sucks, then I won't like them too much.

Heh, its funny, I only find Trunks Bishie when he had the ponytail otherwise I thought his hair looked girly or was too short. He was the least overbuffed DBZ character. He was designed bishie 3nodding Android 17 wasn't too bad either rolleyes Tee hee hee, I forgot how funny looking DBZ animation is, all pointy little noses and huge foreheads lol Trunks#17(in the back)hehehe, the artwork was so strange looking rofl

I've never seen Dragonball Z. Nor have I ever seen things like Sailor Moon. Most of the Anime I've seen hasn't been from American TV. I wasn't even allowed to watch stuff like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I had to sneak to watch Digimon.

Very much so! Dubs and official subs are evil, and sometimes the subs just have the subtitles for the poorly translated dub -_-
