Here's the easiest way to get a job. Abandon the gear.
Not forever, and not all the time, but if you're going in for an interview, get some khakis, a dress shirt, ect... Lose the spikes and chains. Once you have the job, start working small ammounts of the jewlry back into your wardrobe. If you do it a little bit at a time, no one will take much notice.
Or, just act "normal" when your at work. When you get a job, you're there to do some peice of work, and get paid, not to express individuality. Companies hate all that individuality, so loose it, get your check, and when you get off work, put the gear back on.

Most employers don't want goths working for them. It's a fact. Because of stereotypes, predjudice, etc... They don't want the kid that might scare the clients/ customers/ public away. And DieiNoctis is completely right, you're there to work, to do a job, not to express yourself.
When I am job searching, I still tend to wear all black, but nothing obviously "goth". A smart black suit, or a long black skirt, black eyeliner, and no lipstick... If you want to be "you", but still get a job, that's the best approach. No one is going to bug you for favouring dark colours, if you look smart and approachable in them. I usually make a point of asking at the job interview if there is a "dress code" - a lot of places do, or they have an unofficial uniform of some kind. And even if they say no, I do as suggested, and introduce a goth style slowly, to gauge the response I get from my employer. Spiked bracelets one week, chains the next... the second I start to get uncomfortable vibes, I tone it down a notch, and then stay there. In today's society, it's more important for me to be able to have and keep a job, than it is for me to wear spikes. How else am I supposed to be able to afford the boots???
