Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (October 15, 1844 – August 25, 1900), a German philologist and philosopher, produced critiques of religion, morality, contemporary culture, and philosophy, centered around what he viewed as a fundamental question regarding the life-affirming and life-denying qualities of different attitudes and beliefs. Nietzsche's works feature unique, free-form stylization – combined with a wide philosophical breadth – through the use of (for example) logical rigor, etymology, punning, parables, paradoxes, and contradictions, employed to demonstrate the inadequacies of normative modes of thought. Although largely overlooked during his short yet productive working life, which ended with a mental collapse in 1889, Nietzsche received recognition during the first half of the 20th century in German, French, and English intellectual circles, and by the second half of the 20th century he became regarded as a highly significant and influencial figure in modern philosophy.

Nietzsche was a great man though having went insane later on in his life, it did not affect his works. He wrote books such as The Gay Science, Human, All Too Human, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, The Antichrist, The Will to Power and many other influential works. Many may recognize three specific titles of his works. The three being Der Wille Zur Macht (The Will To Power), Jenseits von Gut und Böse (Beyond Good And Evil), and Also sprach Zarathustra (Thus Spoke Zarathustra). Why certain persons may recognize these titles is because they share their names with a popular sereies of rpg's called Xenosaga. This is just an overview of the man. I'm going to have to look up his work after hearing so much about him on this thread and others as well Hurray I'm a scholar!

Some mental relapse, I guess. Keep in mind that a lot of crazy s**t was happening to Prussia/Germany during the time of his life. It all started in the 1870s, I believe. Something about Germany splitting into four areas because the Germanic people were somehow persuaded to make their own nation and whatnot. Perhaps the trauma of the situation caused his unfortunate insanity. I personally do like what I have read of him. When I have the cash, I shall certainly look for some of his works. My brother read some of them; he practically worships the man.
