Welcome to the Picture Palace!

Everyone is welcome here, but we do have a few rules...

1) All pictures must be no bigger than about 500x500.
Any picture bigger than 500x500 must be LINKED! Yes, thumbnails with links are OK, but please warn us it's a thumbnail.

2) Post as many pictures as you want. There's no limit.
Think of it as Spamming/bumping with pretty things to look at!
If you make a Gallery- thread for pictures all of one toopic, make sure there's not allready a pre-existing gallery for that topic.

3) Keep all pictures to PG-13 rating or less.
What does that mean?
Well, that means anything BUT the following are OK:
* Graphic gore/violence
* Sex
* Seeing Genetalia (crotches)
* Pornography
* full frontal nudity

The following are OK:
* Artistic Nudity (ex: naked but nothing shows)
* Some blood (keep it tasteful!)
* chest-up artistic nudity (please link and give warning if it's a female)
* Implied Sexual situations (may be linked with warning if you wish)

Warning links should be RED, see next post for instuctions!

4) Any picture found to be highly offensive or that breaks the rules may be removed.
When in doubt, ask me if the picture is OK. Yes, mild Yaoi/Yuri is OK as long as it's PG rated.

5) Feel free to start new threads or make "gallery" threads especially for one subject, anime, or artist!
But if there's an existing Gallery or thread, please post your art there.

How to Post

Do NOT use picture URLs from the following:
*Geocities
* The Artist's website
(unless you're linking to it ONLY, not displaying the picture)

If you need a place to host pictures, try Photobucket!
More on that later...

Use the following codes to post pictures...
If posting a bunch of pictures by the same artist, simply state at the start of your post that they're all by the same artist!
If you don't know an artist name or title, just post what you do know, such as orgionating site or just a title.

[b](Picturename)[/b] by (Artist)
[img]http://pictureURLhere[/img]

This would look like this:
Memory Remains by Lamoxlamae
User Image

If you're linking to a picture, here's the format:

[url=http://imagewebaddress]NameofImage by artistname[/url]

WARNING links should be bright red! Here's how to do that.

How to Host Images

As mentioned in the last post, you should not direct link to Geocities or to an Artist's website. Why is this?

Here's the reaons...

1) Most the time, direct links (AKA "using the URL of the picture to post the picture elsewhere) Are BLOCKED and will result in broken images at best, and advertisements at worst.

2) Direct Linking steals bandwidth from the artist, and in many sites you actually have to pay for bandwidth!

What can you do to post those pretty pictures then?
Easy! Link to them (see code in last post) or host them yourself

HOW TO HOST IMAGES:

1) Get a Photobucket account.
They're free!! I highly reccomend NOT using DeviantArt as the site actually steals the rights to all art you post there and sells it without the artist making any money.

2) Find your art.
This is the fun part!

3) Log into your Photobucket account in a new window/tab.
Trust me, it makes things easier... oh, and if you love picture-hunting, Get firefox! It's free, and the tabbed browsing is amazing.

4) choose the "upload from URL" feature and cut and past the image URL into the box. Hit upload.

Tada! Your image is now hosted and can be posted anywhere without any problems!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but where does DeviantArt claim that your art belongs to them when you post it up?

Another good image host would be imageshack.us No account needed.
