Well, we found out Kakuzu has five hearts, which should really narrow down the target range to "Head", but okay.
Much like Sailor Moon, the bad guys are courteous enough to wait for the good guys to secretly whisper plans/transform before attacking them.
Shikamaru, wHaT a GuY. Call me up and ask me how much I care. rolleyes Rather than make him seem ze brave hero of the situation, it makes me think the rest of Team 10 is crazy useless. No Ino, you can't do that; you suck. No Chouji, you can't do that; you'll bleed, but I won't. Like oh my god, I think Ino and Chouji need some more action fighting time, rather than "HAAAAY GUYS, LOOK AT ME I'M DISTRACTING SO SHIKAMARU CAN DELIVER THE FINAL BLOW biggrin DDDDDD".
I realize it's supposed to be all DUJ DUJ DUJ dramatic, but it just ended uo being another chapter of long-winded explainations and nothing-happeneditis.

Seriously? neutral Kishimoto is just making me hate Shikamaru more and more. We don't need more chapters focusing on how ~*~amazing~*~ Shikamaru is, we need to see Team Eight or Team Gai or HEY MAYBE INO AND CHOUJI DOING SOMETHING.

This chapter was meant to explain the unknowns to us. We found out how to take down Kakuzu, and that Shikamaru's shadow can lift and throw things(w00t?). Also, even tho I hate Ino's guts, you cant knock her abilities and say she sucks. Shikamaru had a point. Ino's technique takes time. It's not one of those things that hits as soon as she starts the technique. If she misses, it takes several minutes for her to be able to do anything again. Same with Choji. If he were to attack head on, theres a huge chance he'd get hit, which would allow Hidan to do that super badass technique of his again. Shikamaru is definately the right person to seperate Hidan from Kakuzu, because his techniques are long range, and he can move his shadow all over the place, and he can split his shadow making it go at Hidan from all directions.. Ino's technique can only move in a straight line.
Kakashi should also be getting wore out now, considering he did 4 Chidori thingy-ma-jiggers, so they should definately do something quick to stop Kakuzu.
If they do kill Kakashi, I at least hope they reveal his face...lol

I love Ino sad
As Mofo said, the two of them need more screen time. Kishimoto didn't have to make it so Shikamaru would be the best man for the job here no matter what, but he did. It's irritating for someone who doesn't like Shikamaru, like me, to have him be the big man of the show all the time and leave other characters I like, like Ino, idling nearby with nothing to do.
Also yes, um, Team 8 especially needs to do something. They showed up to flash their goodies and left. gonk

Nephite Warrior Ino's technique takes time. It's not one of those things that hits as soon as she starts the technique. If she misses, it takes several minutes for her to be able to do anything again. But Ino must have more than that one technique, unless she's made absolutely zero progress in three years, which I doubt. Now would be a good time to show new stuff she and Chouji may have learned -- it's been said that she now knows medical jutsu, but how about a demonstration? Chouji could show off a new attack and get hit, and Ino could heal. ANYTHING would be better than the nothing we've seen so far from the supporting cast. It's just tiresome. We've seen Naruto fight. Then Sakura. Then Naruto again. Naruto. Sakura. Naruto. Naruto. Oooh, hey, Yamato and Sai! Naruto. Sakura. Shikamaru, Asuma, Shikamaru, Shikamaru... and I'm just thinking, where are the other characters?! Team Gai showed up and fought, but mostly it was off-screen so we saw almost nothing. Team Eight modelled for us a bit, but that's it. Team Ten, the only person we've seen is Shikamaru. Would it really kill Kishi to devote some time to somebody who isn't Naruto or friggin' Shikamaru?

Damn, I must admit Hidan's pretty stupid, falling for it twice in the same battle? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO STAY AWAY AND PAY ATTENTION YOU a*****e!
So now all Kakashi, Chouji and Ino need to do is protect Shika, kill Kakuzu and his heart puppets... no big deal =/...but what about Hidan?...

Well consider:
Asuma already cut Hidan's head off. He was still alive, but totally unable to do anything/defend himself without Kakuzu's help. If they can cut off Hidan's head again, he's still technically alive, but no longer a threat to Konoha whatsoever.

Words cannot express how utterly crushed I was that Ino didn't get to do anything. Honestly. She always struck me as being more inventive than Sakura, after her rope-with-the-hair trick, and she';s supposed to be Sakura's rival, right? So shouldn't she be at least on a somewhat equal level? ARGH!
And yeah, after the huuuuuuuuge long shpiel we got over and over about teamwork (and considering how beautifully team 10 used to work together) having Shikamaru hog the show is a real downer. So was the "let's stand around reciting exposition!" bit.
While I don't mind that the main characters get most of the screen time (cuz, hello. Main characters!) I do mind that when the other characters show up they aren't used as well as they could be.
Frankly, I think Kishimoto is falling into the typical Shounen dilema, or DBZ syndrome: "I-can-destroy-the-universe/Well-I-can-destroy-two-universes!"
He's created a set of characters with abilities that can be easilly used in very, very powerful ways. He hasn't given then a decent set of limits. Because of this, it makes it very hard for him to write drawn out battles without involving ludicrous power battles. And it's makes it almost impossible for him to write team fights, because a well set up team will absolutly destroy an unprepared one. Thus, he's forced to fall back on "all of you stand back while character X fights" battles. It's a damned shame.
As a side note, I would easilly buy into Ino being a spy-master and a non-combat focusing ninja. . . if Kishimoto had ever bothered to give non-combat ninja any kind of worth. But we only ever see two types: out and out fighters, and the medics. Ino isn't a formal medic (I hope. Please, PLEASE don't let her be a full fledged medic!) and she's useless in combat apparently, so. . . what, she has no worth now? Feh. You can do better than that, Kishimoto! *peeved*
