I'm writing and i need some help with what my characters should look like.

To discover how your characters look, you should think about their personalities. If you don't tell people their personalities someone could design an amazing-looking geek when your character is a hippie.

They are your characters. Other people can not simply describe them by just a name and a gender. You have to do it. Thinks about the characters one by one. Think about their personality. Think about their age. Think about their family life. You have to become the character before describing it. If other people describe your characters...well...that takes away half the fun of writing about them.

Completely agree with this perspective.
I would like to add that the character/personality of a written works characters depends alot on their purpose within the plot, and the behaviours required to fill thier individual roles.
