This one got published in the TDSB (Toronto District School Board) Urban Voices book of Poetry (and artwork). I wrote it a few years ago. xd

The Unknown

Venture into the dreadful abyss,
Waits in hiding, a deadly kiss,
A howl in the darkness pierces my ears,
A phalanx of shadows triggers my fears.

Dark is the demon that lies in the night,
Looming in shade, nowhere in sight,
Mysterious whispers send shivers down my spine,
A bloodthirsty beast searching for midnight wine.

A soul is lost in the basement deep,
Careful not to disturb the sleep
Of a feral silhouette of teeth that grind,
Always creating two conflicting minds.

The eyes of a creature give a baneful glare,
As the victim returns with a painful stare,
All that remains is a skull and a bone,
Just a reminder to fear the Unknown.

Interesting...I loved it! Dark and epressing poems are my favorites ^.- I love your word choice and then at the end I like how you said 'Just a reminder' instead of just: 'Fear the Unknown' Good job!
