Is "lol" really a bad term to use when typing?? I know that when you speak in a class using "lol" or "ppl" or "rofl" is just plain retarded and won't get you anywhere but when typing "lol" wouldn't it count as an abbreviation??

'LOL' is an abbreviation. It's 'laugh out loud'. It's okay to use if as long as you don't use it like: "lol! i noe rite? lol lol lol!!" That's just scary ;__;

The word 'lol' is an acronym, not an abbreviation. An abbreviation would be, for example, using 'sis' instead of 'sister.' I just had to put that out there for you. ^^'

I think it's acceptable as an abbre- I mean, as an acronym.
It's very hard to type quickly if you type out everything in full. When I'm in Gaia Towns, for example, I use acronyms and abbreviations.
