Stop using it, it makes you look stupid.

Yup, whether it's written or spoken, it's so unnecessary. I think most people who use that word like that don't even notice they're doing it.

I guess it is...
But I end up using it in that way anyways. It's a habit that I gained from my 'valley girl' friends.
Sometimes I reread the stuff I type, then I get kind of annoyed with myself since I type out 'like' too much.
I even SAY like too much...>>"....

I can think of loads of annoying words, but LIKE has to be one of the worst.

Dude, like, chill out, yeah?
Like has its place in a sentence. You need to specify that only certain uses of it are bad.

I'm not that annoyed by it's usage.
I'm only annoyed when half the sentence that is being spoken or typed is the word "like".
I tend to use "dude" constantly, as well. That's what I get for hanging out with rockers from NJ.

Like should only be used in some cases...for instance, similies. "The girl danced like a small bird in the sky, fluttering its wings in a beautiful song." Sorry if it is horrible...I made it up in the top of my head.

"Like, oh my gosh! I so like, agree with you. I like, totally use it too much. Like, woah!"
That has to be one of the most annoying things out side of "txt tlk" and hip-hop I've come across. I think it comes from having a poor vocabulary and thus being unable to come up with the words to express one's ideas.

I must admit that I abuse the word like in regular conversation. It's just a bad habit. I try not to type it, but, when I go over what I write, it seems to pop up all too often.

I use it too much when trying to describe something. "It's like.. well, like.. "

Kira___Yamato I can think of loads of annoying words, but LIKE has to be one of the worst. Indeedly so. Too many people use the word "like" without knowing its proper meaning. It is a shame really...

The thing that bugs me the most about it is when people are thinking and they say
"like...um...like..um"
UM, is not as annoying, but LIKE should be banned in no appropriate context.
okay: He looked like a duck.
bad: He like looked like a like duck.

saotomi5102 The thing that bugs me the most about it is when people are thinking and they say "like...um...like..um" I hear people use that so many times I thought it should become an actual word: "likum."
