It's true. Well, the fact that there are rumors is true.
You see, I live in Delaware, and in Delaware (thanks to our oh-so-literate President Decider Man) we take something called the DSTP (Delaware State Testing Program.) It's a very easy test; includes math, science, social studies, and english. The problem is, our whole curriculum revolves around this test. They spend whole marking periods giving you tips on HOW TO TAKE THE TEST!
Is this ridiculous? Yes. We could be learning much more important things than how picky the graders of the test are.
But what did I hear a few weeks ago?
There is consideration of allowing "txt-tlk" in the essay portion?
Yes.
If you think this is totally defeating the purpose of having a state test and spending months learning the nit-picky details of exactly how to take it, please voice it. I need to know that I am not the only person in this world that has a little bit of sense.

I am slightly shocked. I thought that the standards of education were deteriorating in my country, but introducing txt-tlk into official exams is still unimaginable where I live. I hope the rumours don't come true.

Isn't the point of an essay to show that you are at least some-what literate? Allowing txt talk is......wow. Just wow.

Oh, dear lord. That's just wrong. The point of essays are to see if one can form coherent sentences. Txt-talk is not what one should use to create a coherent sentence! What is the U.S. coming to?

That is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life! Part of taking a TEST is to LEARN. Sorry, but we don't speak in text talk, (well...most of us don't) so it shouldn't be acceptable on a fricken test. apologies for my anger.

Kairi_12 ...can they even call that a test? Tests should be about knowledge, not...stupidity. Not unless we all live in a world where the stupid reign supreme. Is there even such a horrid place? confused

Allowing Txt-talk on the offical state exams. Am I the only one who sees it this way, or does that just defeat the whole purpose of taking all those manditory english classes every school year? Seriously, what is happening to our nations eduction levels.....
