can you have subfolders in your download folder?

Only if you have Nightlife or a later Expansion installed. If you have Nightlife or later then subfolders will work fine. If you don't then you can't have subfolders.

well i saw only nightlife does another thing to mods..
when you enter in the game it does a message with biggrin OOD! YOU GOT A FILE IN UR DOWNLOADZ FOLDER J00! U WAN EM OR NOT?U MAI NED TO RESTART COMP TO WOK

You can stop that message appearing by turning it off in the options panel.
