She aimlessly spun the rosary- a gift from the Mother Superior from the nunnery near her school- around two fingers, then spun it the other way. There was no fondness in the dragonfly girl for the Christian faith, but at least the whirling beads kept the Jesus freaks that normally went out of their way to try and turn her towards the Light. She didn't know what drew them so well, but it was amusing to watch them treat her like she was stupid.

Aure slid her ticket through the small slot provided at the turnstile and picked it up at the other side. Only one more use left- great. Just freaking wonderful. She'd have to ask Grandpa for enough to get a new ten-use pass, because she'd blown all her money on philosophy books. It was going to be an interesting conversation, the one she going back to. She gave a one-shouldered shrug to no one, and continued to spin the pink rosary while waiting for her train to come.

"Se...see you tomorrow Mere!"

He grinned, and waved at the other boy, who was sitting next to him in class. Mom was right, school wasn't so bad after all. Pausing to smile at Marc, he them walked off to the train station. He had insisted that he wanted to go home himself, he was big enough. And his mom had let him, even though she was still moping about Gywn. A frown came over his face. He was still rather upset over it though now he was more worried about his mom. He resolved to take care of Alora and his other younger siblings; he wouldn't let them disappear and make Mom unhapppy again.

Mereneth twirled his ticket in one hand as the other was shoved into the pocket of his black sweater. He almost contemplated letting it catch flame, but it wouldn't be fun having to walk home after that, would it? Half-heartedly, he walked around, not noticing the other Illusionary.

Aure turned at the boy's shout. It couldn't be the Mereneth, could it? It could be a common name. It totally could. But, as things appeared, it wasn't. She narrowed her eyes at the red-haired boy. He'd grown, though she observed that he was still shorter than she was. Oh, this would be good, if she were in the mood for confrontation...

Some of the Jesus freaks were converging on Mereneth. She took pity on him and walked over, throwing her right hand- the one wrapped in a rosary- over his shoulders. "Hey Mereneth," Aure said. She couldn't resist the blade-sharp smile that developed on her face. "Long time, no see. Still short, though..." They backed off, looking incredibly sulky.

Oh s**t.

Although his mother had told him many times not to swear, he had mentally done that as soon as he saw the blond girl. Sure, she was much taller than him. Did she have to rub it in? He'd wait till his growth spurt, he would, he thought to himself, gritting his teeth. Though their last encounter was rather...amciable, he still rather disliked the girl. He couldn't exactly say hate, he just didn't like her. And things got rather interestingly different.

He didn't notice the other people, just threw a glare her way. "Hello Aurelius." Well, he had to be polite! She said hi first, although she provoked him with his statement. He did wonder what would the kittens think of her though, and a slight smirk appeared on his face.

She rested her knuckles against his cheekbone. "You're lucky I was here. They were about to turn you to the dark side," she said, nodding at the preaching throngs along the sides of the subway lobby. "What way're you going, hmm? Maybe we can... share a seat." It was a good thing Mereneth couldn't see Aure's teasing smirk; her head was too close to his for him to see plainly.

But was obvious that she was up to something totally no good.

He jumped at that touch, wincing. For some reason, it didn't feel right. Frowning, his hand went up to touch his cheek gingerly, his fingertips grazing the warm soft skin, unlike...

Unlike what? He froze. His index finger had touched something, cool and dry and rather smooth. He stroked the area for a few seconds before realising it felt like Spotty's...scales.

Scales. As in snake. Dragon. Fear seemed to rise in him, but he turned this into annoyance, which he directed towards Aurelius. Lucky? Dark side?

"Dark side?" He snorted. Alora had took much fascination in different cultures and was studying them. For all he knew, they all involved Gods and cleansing of the body against sins and virtues were taught. Why then would it be bad?

Share a seat? He tried to twist out of his grasp to see her expression, although her tone seemed rather...suspicious.

"I'm going home." He muttered abruptly. "Not that you should care."

At this, he didn't notice the scales glow a bright red, those on his cheek and on his hands as well. They were both shoved deep into his pockets. He was just worried at what he had just discovered and wanted time alone to ponder it over.

"Are you breaking up with me?" She pretended to wibble, clinging to him tighter. "They were going to lecture you about how bad you were for not being human and I help you and this is how you repay me?" It was remarkable how much like a whiny teenager she could sound, really.

Aure smirked again. "You're glowing, Mere, dear."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 22, 2007 2:35 am
"Breaking up?" He couldn't help but inject a sense of sarcasm in those two words. Aurelius seemed to be freaking weird today. "It's not like we even were together." This was accentuated by a raised eyebrow and folding his arms defiantly, as he tried to stand as haughtily as she allowed him to, with her arms grabbing him.

"Anyway..." He paused, a hot wave of furious emotion spreading into him as she continued. "Do I look human to you?" He tried his best to supress his voice, he managed to tone down the volume, but his tone sounded incredulous and angry.

Glowing? At first, he took it as a subsitute for saying that he was blushing and he opened his mouth to retort only to stop with his lips in mid-squawk as he stared down at the exposed underside of his palms and at the glowing scales.

Aure pulled her face into a frown. "That's true." A train pulled in not too far away; it briefly attracted her attention. "Hm. Doesn't being near-mortal enemies count for ANYTHING anymore?" She observed him with a slight pout on her face, letting him be angry as she slowly edged them towards the train. Mereneth must live in her general area, as they had both ended up at that same park not too long ago. He probably didn't want to miss his train...

"Of course not," she said soothingly, petting his spikey head to distract him as she pulled him onto the subway train. "Only if you want to look human, okay? Promise."

Oh yes. She was having too much fun with this.

"True." He snapped, burning with anger. He felt like he hated Aurelius, probably because he was pissed off with everything else in the world that was happening to him and now, the scales. Still, he didn't think he could stand all the pent-up anger in him.

He didn't seem to care as he dragged him to the train, trying to look away with a dark angry look on his face, pretending she wasn't holding onto him. "Promise?" He turned, an incredulous look appearing on his face.

"Yep. Won't mention it ever again if you don't want me to~" she said, sing-song. With her extra weight added on, Aure pushed him onto one of the seats and sat, observing the map for directions. "What station are you going to?" She glanced back over her shoulder at him, waiting for him to figure out where he was.

He said nothing, preferring to stay silent instead of shoot back another sarcastic comment. It would end up to be a vicious cycle. He simply jabbed his finger at a station on the map and looked away, out of the window to observe the scenery.

"The same one I'm gonna be getting off at!" Aure smiled delightedly and threw her arms around Mereneth once more. Oh, happy day! This was just too excellent. He couldn't escape, and she had him all to herself. Perfect, too perfect.

"What?" Mereneth groused, folding his arms across his chest. This was turning out to be SUCH a great day.

She was delighted. "Well, of course, it means that we can spend much more quality time together, Mereneth!" More time for tormenting him and observing his reactions, which was always very fun and interesting. What had seemed like it would be quite a boring ride home was turning into a lovely time- for Aurelius, at least.
