Has anyone here made petticoats? I'm wondering if it would be too hard to do without a pattern... The only thing i've ever sewen without a pattern is a basic gathered skirt. I'm looking for a truly poofy petticoat, for a lolita outfit.

I would think that it is fairly easy to make.. This forum helps find places to look in. GOOD LUCK!!! 3noddingheartheart

Having done hoop skirts, which are essentially petticoats with metal in them ^^, all I can say, is its gonna take alot of fabric. And for the lollita style, I'd imagine a stiff fabric to get the right poof. I'm not sure, I dont do lollita, its just my best guess. ><

I've made a poufy petticoat without a pattern. I bought stiff netting. I bought like 15 or 20 yards of it. I did 2 tiers. The bottom tier will be twice as long as the top tier. I.E. If your top tier is 5 yards long then use 10 yards for your bottom tier. Fold the netting in half (lengthwise) and do a basic gather stitch. After you've gathered it so it's the same length as the top tier, sew it to the top tier. Then just sew a row of elastic in the top tier for your waist. I hope this isn't too confusing. Maybe it'll help a little. smile
