Damn right. I've seen infants with pierced ears, and wondered what the hell was wrong with the person who actually did it. Picture, if you will, a mother brings a baby into, say, Claire's, because it's free there. "Hello, there, I'm here about the free piercing?" "But.. you're already got a set." "Oh, not for me, for her." "Goo?" And they don't tell the woman to leave. Amazing. Futhermore, in many cultures, pierced ears are a sign of sexual... well, that they're old enough and active. Nice thing to display on a six-month old girl.

I actually don't think it's wrong. If it's just on the ears that is. I mean, I had mine when I was about younger then one, and I didn't have hoops or anything they were small earings. Besides, they weren't painful from what I can remember, and seeing them happen now and stuff they seem pretty bad. So, I'm alright with not remembering it. Nothing seems to be wrong with it, you're going to feel the pain whenever you get it.
Also, the sexual sign thing. That may be in some cultures, but I don't think very many people think about that especially on a young child, it would most likely be an accessory. If some people do strongly believe in that, they shouldn't get their child's ears pierced, I guess.
