I'm curious about other guild members' breadth of languages.
My mother tongue is French. I did most of my schooling at a french school. I took a few courses in English (well, not so surprisingly, the language course, but also a few other high school courses (History, grade 11 math, physics)).
In my first year of University, I took an ancient greek course. This was interesting, as the Greeks use a different alphabet. I also gained a better appreciate for some of the words we make up for new concepts and objects.
Later on, I took a couple of courses of Spanish. By no means am I fluent is Spanish though...
So, how about you? What languages other than English do you know? How did you learn them?

I know Spanish thanks to school and living in a heavily populated Hispanic area. I also am trying to learn a bit of Japanese through subbed anime and intense practice.

I don't know that I would say I "know" other languages. I know bits and pieces...I took French for about five years and took one semester of Japanese. I'd love to pick them up again and learn more. I love languages in general and would love to study more of them. (That's a lot of "love"s! wink ) Interesting question--I'll be curious to see what people have to say!

I'm learning Spanish, I learned Chinese from my parents, I learned Japanese from excessive watching subbed anime's, and of course, English.
The sad part: I KNOW MORE JAPANESE! THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT!

I'm fluent in Spanish since it was *technically* my first language since I learned it from my parents and then I learned English in school. With my friends though I usually speak English though we sometimes do the "Spanglish" thing too. At home I speak Spanish or "Spanglish."

Ich spreche Deutsch. Mmm... German is delicious. I'm learning Russian right now, as my step-family is Ukrainian, I dunno about learning Ukrainian, that'd be sweet too. I used to be able to speak Spanish since they forced kids in my elementary school to start learning it. But budget cuts stopped that the year after I left. I also speak some French.

I know a bit of Chinese, and I am currently learning Spanish.
I most definately know English because I live in the US.
Now since this has nothing to do with grammar, it shall be deposited into the GD subforum.

English isn't my first language. I speak Cantonese at home, although I'm starting to be more used to speaking English to the point where I start speaking it to my parents. I'm trying to avoid mixing the two all the time, because I don't want to end up not being able to speak either of them properly.
I've also been learning French for four years at school. I can read katakana because I used to spend too much time playing video games, but I can't actually speak any Japanese. I've also tried to learn German and Latin on my own, but I never have time for it.

My parents came from Hungary, but I were born here. The first language I have ever learned is Hungarian, and because of that, I had a bit of trouble with English in my early school days and have gotten made fun of due to it.
