Reccomended inexpensive (but not poor quality) yarns/shops for felting?

My best option right now looks lie Lion Brand wool at A. C. Moore. which is cool because they have colors I like. mrgreen

I'm a big fan of Cascade 220. While the price per ball is higher (you can find it really cheap at Webs) you get more yardage than Lion wool, so it's overall a great deal. And they have sooo many colors available it just makes you alll happy with the possibilities. Be careful though, don't accidentally get the Cascade 220 Superwash - it won't felt. I've used it before and I've found that single-stranded it felts to about 70% its original size (but that will vary depending on your gauge).

Happy Knitting!

Thanks guys! I'm actually going to Webs tomorrow, to get my interchangables. And whore through the discount. heart

We have a new phrase in our house: Yarn porn. whee

EDIT: And Cascade is on sale for the same price ACMoore has for Lion. heart heart heart And at half again as much yarn per skein, I only need 4 or 5 for a needle quiver.

Although I'm tempted to splurge on Eco plus. sweatdrop

Mmm, Yarn porns *chuckles*

I actually have a stack of felted hats out of different yarns. Leme see if I can get pics of them up; that can help since you can see what the finished felting looks like (or could look like. irritatingly enough every skein felts differently -.- )

Also, knitpicks.com has a good variety of felting wools. Their Wool of the Andes is supposed to felt really well - sometimes even on purpose rolleyes

I think KnitPicks is my new dealer. User Image

I may still have to go to A.C. Moore to get the striping Lion Wool, since the others are all solid, but oh well. cool

By the way, the KnitPicks Wool of the Andes is the only one I've heard about from them that is supposed to be of middling quality. All their other stuff is good smile I've used their laceweights in the past and really liked them.
