So a friend of mine and I were talking about this the other day: we think that the dub of RuroKen is terrible.
In fact, it makes me cry.
Now, before people beat me up, I have watched it in both Japanese and in English and I tend to prefer it in Japanese because I don't think they did a very good job with the dub. Granted the bloopers (for the English) were very funny, but I don't like it dubbed.
Thoughts on this?

SilentNinjaFox Hmmm... Rurouni Kenshin is one of the few animes that I actually prefere the dub over the sub to... I like that you can stand up to me. While I think that there are animes out there that have better subs than dubs, I guess I just liked this one better in the sub. I just like my Kenshin to sound girlier, I guess...

I like Kenshin to sound like a guy. I find that the dub voices really seem to fit the character designs. Like with some anime, the voices they use for the dub isn't a voice that someone that looks like that character would say. Sorry if that was confusing. ^ ^;

The only dub that didn't seem good to me was Yahiko.

The series dub isn't too bad compared to other shows I've seen. I actually don't mind it. Although I still prefer the subtitled version.
The dub version of Trust & Betrayal is awful, however. The guy who does Kenshin talks like a dead robot. sad

I believe in Jesus Christ, my Savior. If you do too, and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this into your signature. I honestly prefer the dubbed version of Rurouni Kenshin because I can't stand how girly they make Kenshin sound. I know he's supposed to be a simple, extremely polite rurouni, but there's no need to make him sound like a eunuch. I thought Richard Hayworth did a great job as Kenshin, except that he didn't do the "oro". I also loved Lex Lang as the voice of Sanosuke. The only things that bothered me were Kenshin being called "Battousai the Manslayer" and Chou and Tae's Texan accents.

I wasn't aware that Japanese could sound Southern. Richard Hayworth did do a good job, but yeah, no 'oro.' I think the oro needed to stay in there because it's a defining characteristic of Kenshin's character. But i wasn't the one doing the dubbing... sweatdrop

Yeah... the lack of oro was very sad... you could tell he was trying to say it in the beginning of the series but he just gave up. I guess no one told him how it's pronounced. Sano's voice was great! The Texan accents made me laugh. sweatdrop
