Im using Windows Movie MAker(and hating every second of it) to make my mediocre vids, im savings up for a new comp (to replace the $200 comp from hell) and to buy a new editing program. any suggestions?

I'd suggest Premiere Pro. That's what I use and I love every minute of it! ^^ It's easy to learn and works lovely! ^^

WMM's not crap really, there's just a lot of better programs. It's perfectly possible to make a good amv with WMM. :/
I use Vegas 7.0 though.

I'm a Vegas user, too. Both Vegas and Premiere are really good video programs, but my preference is Vegas. You gotta use what you can get your hands on of course. I never used WMM before, but if that's all you got just do what you possibly can with it.

Magix is cool and inexpensive. You can pick up copies for around $50 if you look in the right places. Premiere is okay for a linear editing program, but it just so expensive. For linear edits Final Cut and Avid Liquid > all!

Shun the Mac using cheapskate iMoive user. Shuuun. But I like it; probably because I'm not big on effects.
