While Gaia has implemented features that prevent the hacking of accounts... this is some advice that
1. Use numbers and letters
2. Don't use words from the dictionary. Don't combine two words.
3. L33t speak passwords can still be recognized by some hacking programs.
4. An example of a strong pass that's easy to remember would be "myhd4l3lb" this is created from the phrase "Mary had a little lamb" Its the first and last letter of each word with some letters replaced by numbers. You can use lines of poetry, nursery rhymes, long book/song titles, etc.
About changing your password every month:
A lot of people recommend this, but its only really necessary if the server gets hacked like Subeta. If you're on a website that doesn't notify you of failed log ins and doesn't ban or notify you of multiple and repeated failed log ins like Gaia does and has hacking issues... then I do advise changing your password once a month... even once a week, because there's no way for you to know if someone is trying to hack you. Gaia is a secure site so we don't have as much to worry about.
Your biggest threats on Gaia are keyloggers, fake websites, and scams. The problem with keyloggers is that you might be unaware of how you got them. So be very careful about what you download and run spyware and virus scans every few days, especially after visiting new websites and downloading something new off a website.
