Do you think that Avatar The Last Airbender is anime? Why do i ask this? I ask this because:

1. it was made in America by Americans

2. it does have a japanese version of it

3. it has a crappy toy and accessory line

wat do you think?

Well it's definately got some anime qualities to it...
But... It's still realy different even from old anime....
It is a noggin scratcher...

I'm big fan of the show, but I don't think its an anime.

Anime is defined in Merriam-Websters dictionary as; "a style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes"
This means it has to be from Japan to be considered anime.

However the style of animation used in Avatar is similar to anime, but because its not from Japan it isn't TRUE anime.

There is such thing as American anime, and therefore it can be defined as anime. I think it's a little short sighted in this current global economy to assign a country or nation as the only ones capable of creating a genre don't you?

*shrug* I don't really think it's anime. It's more of a poor American attempt at anime. I mean, they're trying to make it the same style, but I think it just looks kinda silly.

It's a half. It's got Anime Art style, but it's made in america, so it's half Anime, Half Cartoon.

It also never had a manga origin. Which is most often the case with anime.
