Here is the situation. You are playing a game like any multiplayer action game on the computer. You need to talk but have no microphone, so you have to type, but to type you risk dying because you can't defend while typing. Now what txt talk or type completely? Tell me why and the reasons.

I don't usually play online games (multiplayer, anyway), but if I did, and I was in that situation, I would type completely. For me it's faster than trying to figure out what symbol or abbreviation to use than just typing it all out in the first place. I'm just trained that way.

Yes, that's just my opinion.

I don't get involved in those games but...All you need to really consider is that you are being represented a certain way.

xd

I suppose it would depend on what's going on- if I had the few seconds before my tank moved into action I'd cohesively type out my words. What are you saying? If it's short then put it out but I don't see a thing wrong with using "txt tlk" in those kind of situations.

The time it takes for you're teamates to figure out what you wrote down could've been used to type it completly.

I would type completely. It's much faster than having to think, "How do I type this in text talk?" and then type it, than to just type the whole thing with no thought.

Then again, I am a multi-tasker at heart. 3nodding

I suppose it depends on what you're more familiar with.

I am rather bad at multitasking, laying waste to the myth that all women are natural multi-taskers. sweatdrop

I type natural, and I type fairly fast; what a waste of time it would be to translate that to text talk in the middle of a game!

Your best bet is to type short and sweet. Limit what you say to what is necessary so your attention is not diverted....and hope your opponent does the same so you don't waste even more time trying to translate their text talk.

I bought myself a headset so I can use the voice setup in BF 2142. It's possible to voice-chat to your squadmates through the game's voice channel that's built in. Besides, headsets aren't that expensive, anyways.

I play an online game called World of Warcraft. When I am in a group with other players in a dungeon, sometimes monsters show up and enter our fight. I would then say 'pat' or 'inc', 2 abbreviations used only in WoW that everybody knows. I use abbreviations when speed is of the essence.

I'd say type your text out fully. I don't have a reason besides your teammates might die trying to translate leading to more deaths than if you die trying to type it out.

I don't have a microphone, so I have to type everything out. I use spelling and punctuations, but I skip the capitalization. Shift is just too much for me.

Hm, that's a good compromise. No caps but nice grammar...

I could stay a while

I agree. That's usually what I do when I'm in a hurry and IMing someone.

But sooner or later I'll break your smile

I generally try to type out as much as possible, but I will text if need be, like during fast paced events or when I have to get off at that precise moment.

I can name a possible 3 of many (not that they all can be explained).

1.) Poor motor control or stubby fingers makes it impossible to type for most gamers online.

2.) Generally low self-esteem. If you live in an impoverished neighborhood good grammar on a keyboard will get you flamed by other gamers living in poverty (again, most gamers unfortunately).

3.) They feel the need to make themselves special because they're dorks and have a drive within their brains to become socially acceptable, not actually reflective of their own personalities.
