it is by Riordan. it is about a teen named percy jackson ( a contemporary teen in new york city) who finds out that his father is a greek god adn he has to be kept safe for the summer by going to hero camp on long island that is run by Dionysus (sp?). There are alot of greek gods that show up, you eventually find out who percy's dad is and that there are a lot of children of greek gods out there. it is a fun book. so far there are 3 books in the series.

I read the first two in this series. It was way too obvious which god Percy's father was. I can't remember the title of the third, so I haven't gotten to it quite yet. (In the title for this thread, "Thief" is spelled in correctly. Sorry, it bothered me.)

The book was quite good, and I especially enjoyed the traps and the fantastical aspect to it a little more than was probably necessary biggrin

Yes, all three books are very good.
The hird book is titled The Titan's Curse.
I got to hear Rick Riordan speak because he actually visited my school last year. I live in San Antonio and so does he, and he came and did a 1 hour presentation on writing stories and using your imagination.

I loved that book! This isn't really a surprise since I am a total nerd when it comes to Greek Mythology. I can't seem to even be able to get my hands on the second one though sweatdrop I havn't exactly been looking for it though. I just find random books at stores.

I actually finished the 2nd one in late summer. I'm told the author has some romance between Percy and Annabeth in the third one so kinda excited about reading it now.

Yes that was obvious. I'm thinking/ hoping that there may be, as unlikely as it sounds, a child of Hades so there will be three canidates for the whole prophecy thing.

Yeah it was really obvious who his father was. And there are children of Hades, the sneak. want to know who they are? well they are the two kids in the third book whos names escape me. Well anyway they are brother and sister who didn't know they were half bloods so they get taken to camp half blood and one goes on a quest. Her life ends badly though, smushed by a giant robot, compliments of Haphestaus (did I spell it right)? well Percy finds out that they are children of Hades at the end of the book when the girl who died's brother gets angry because Percy didn't protect his sister and the kid makes the earth open up leaving a gping hole between them. Now onto why I called Hades a sneak. I called him a sneak because he didn't break the treaty the Big Three formed. How you may want to know? Well remember when Percy and Annabeth and Grover get stuck in the Lotus Casino? Well Hades left his kids in there for like seventy years I think it was. After he put them in there the Big Three made the pact on the River Styx. Then Hades Gets them out of The Lotus seventy years later and they are still children. Now the boy is currently running away from Percy unless of course you have read the fourth book The Battle of The Labyrinth. Hope you did and if you didn't you should read it. I finished it in a couple of hours because I couldn't put it down.
