1960s Sci Fi

I've just recently been getting into more sci-fi stuff. Particularly 60s sci fi. I'm reading 2001: A Space Odyssey right now...I figured it was a good place to start. I plan on reading more of Arthur C. Clark's books, too.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I was thinking of reading something by Poul Anderson, too...is he good?

Lol yeah, I'm new to this stuff...so I really don't know any authors or anything. Hope you guys can help : D

Some of the other classic authors are Isaac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein. I like their work better than Clark or Anderson, but that's my own personal preference.

LI, you took the words right out of my mouth! Don't forget "Dune" by Frank Herbert, though the sequels never lived up to the first one. Some other authors I like: Anne McCaffrey, Orson Scott Card, Piers Anthony and Greg Bear to name a few.

I say Douglas Adams' Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's a trology but now it's got like 6 books too it so you should try and find a copy of The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, or try any of his other books. The one's I've read are very good and never boring.

I Am Legend is a novella, so only about half of the book is actually that story, the rest are these amazing short stories that are well worth the read.

If you read any of the above authors you have to read Ray Bradbury. Especially The Martian Chronicles. The book they make you read by him in school is Fahrenheit 451, which is also a great novel, but a bit overrated in my opinion.
