"Five doors that were all identical."
Er, could someone help me correct this sentence. I was told this was incorrect, but I don't know how to correct it. Sorry to throw this at you, but... sweatdrop

I must not be a good grammar catcher because I don't see anything wrong with that sentence. Maybe just take out the "all," because if they're identical... wouldn't they....

I really don't know. Sorry.

Sorry, it's not valid, since it's a sentence fragment—in this case, a prepositional phrase. The problem is the word 'that'; 'all' has nothing to do with it. Here are some similar, but valid sentences:

"Five doors were all identical." (awkward, but valid)

"The five doors were all identical."

"Five of the doors were identical."


Here are a few that use the entire phrase:

"They saw five doors that were all identical."

"The room was lined with five doors that were all identical."

"She had to choose one of five doors that were all identical."
