Prologue: Part 2!
It started with the vomiting. I thought that it was just food poisoning or something...
But it kept happening.
And one morning, while standing over a nasty death toilet that I had created, I popped. I was pregnant.
Mom was pissed when I told her. She thought I had just slept around with some teenage boys and gotten like this. But I told her it wasn't my fault, and I told her about Avri. She walked away without a word, but I could tell she was fuming.
Little did I know how awesome they were, though.
I went over to Avri's house after school one day and he flat out refused to have any involvement in me or the child.
I was devastated. The least he could do is help, after what he did to me!
But then I realized, I didn't want a creep like that in my life, or the life of my child's. I left, fuming, and never saw him again. (Except for his mugshot on the Simly Times, attached to an article about his arrest. Go, Dad!)
Life went on as usual. I made friends, even though I was worried no one would want to hang around a teen mom.
As for moms, mine apologized. She was more supportive than ever, which was nice.
I even bonded with Caleb, who had question upon question about the baby. I think he was feeling a little left out with all the excitement.
Then, after months passed, it started to happen. Right as I got off the bus for school!
It was the worst pain I've ever felt, but..
In the end, it was all worth it. In my arms was a black haired, brown eyed baby girl. My Marie.
Mom and Dad were ecstatic!
And I was too. Secretly, I was afraid I'd resent her because of Avri. But as I snuggled her, I realized it wasn't her fault or choice to be made the way she was. I loved her. She was mine, and never his.
Time flew, and I cared for her well. This motherhood thing came natural!
Dad was a saint and took care of Marie whenever I couldn't.
Soon, she grew into a toddler.
She was gorgeous! And looked a lot more like me than Avri, for which I was glad.
I doted on her, and she loved every minute of it. I taught her all of the important things, often blowing off my friends to do so. I didn't have too many anymore, but Marie was way more important than going to the mall or staring at boys.
Life went on, though, and also ended. Marlin, my dad's dog (who was even older than me), passed away. Ree (mom's dog), and Zee (Marlin and Ree's puppy) mourned with howls.
Caleb grew into a handsome young man with a mind for money and a charismatic personality. I thought he looked just like Dad.
Marie grew up as well.
And so did Mom and Dad! (Don't worry, she fixed her clothes.)
Life settled down after all the birthdays. Marie was a bright kid, and loved hanging out with her grandpa.
She could even keep up with her uncle in chess!
Life went on for me, too. My brother introduced me to his friend, Holden Dalton.
We really cared for each other, deeply. But.. he had to move on to college. And I?
I grew up.
Mom and Dad were happy to let us stay at home but I really felt the need to strike out on my own... I had a job in Journalism and with money that was meant for my college fund, I would be alright. As Marie and I got into the taxi that would lead us to our new home, I was excited and scared... This was it!
