I know a girl.
A beautiful, blue-eyed blonde
With flawless, creamy skin,
A petite little body,
And a smile that could break hearts.
Some may think she’s stupid
Because she looks so good,
But I’ve listened to her speak.
I’ve taken time to listen.
I know that behind her beauty
Is a mind of poetic genius.
I know a girl.
A cute little princess
With adorable, big eyes,
A button nose, freckled,
And just enough baby fat to keep her looking innocent.
Some may think she’s stuck-up
Because she gets so much
But I’ve watched her unwind.
I’ve taken time to care.
I know that behind her innocence
Is a girl who needs some love and protection.
I know a girl.
A rouge edged tomboy
With long, wavy, sandy hair,
A large, noticeable chest,
And equally noticeable large muscles.
Some may think she’s crazy
Because she seems so random
But I’ve observed her actions.
I’ve taken time to notice.
I know that behind her wild actions
Is a soul that craves acceptance.
I know a girl.
A pretty, little poet
With a curious kitten’s smile,
A canvas of olive skin, straight, brown hair,
And a laugh like an angel.
Some may think she’s whiney
Because she’s a little clingy
But I’ve read her words.
I’ve taken time to think.
I know that behind her immaturity
Is the most loyal heart I’ve seen a girl have.
None of these girls are me
But I am a girl,
A girl who envies all these other girls.
They may have flaws,
But at least they know these things about themselves.
I only wish I could be as in touch with myself.
I wish these girls could help me.
I wish I could help myself.
So who am I?
I am girl.
A responsible, young adult
With dusty, brown skin,
A tiny waste, black braids,
And a dancer’s legs.
Some may think I’m mean
Because I act so serious
But …
But, only someone who knows me,
Someone who cares enough to try and figure out who I am,
Only those people who pay attention
Can fill in the rest
Can you?
Who are you?
Are you just a girl,
A girl with flaws
A girl with some sort of talent
A girl like me?
