CHAPTER ONE
A girl in a brown fur rimmed coat and black cargo pants fell against a rough brick wall crying. Her short white and tan hair stuck to her face from her salty tears. Wiping her face with a sleeve, she slowly slid down the wall to the damp, cracked, cement to sob into her knees.
“Why?” she thought. Grasping her coat she felt the blood seeping through to her clawed fingers.
She narrowed her bright blue eyes as she saw the blood. Soon becoming dizzy and losing consciousness.

“Hey..” A man’s voice mumbled. He walked down an alley lined with old boxes and garbage cans. He stood before a girl in a brown coat, she was covered in blood
The man gently nudged the girl with a boot.
“You alive down there?” He asked a bit louder.
The girl moved slightly and groaned.
Smirking, he scooped the bloody girl into his arms and walked away.

“a**-wipe, I said to get donuts not crackers!” a voice exclaimed into a phone. There was a slight mumbling as the person on the other line answered. “Huh?.. Yeah..” he paused.
“I think so, lemme check. I’ll call you back!” He hung up the phone.
Shaking his head, he slipped the cell phone into his jean pocket. He sighed. “Laura, you sound more like our mother every day..” with loud footsteps, he strode around the corner and into the next room.
Lying on a love-seat couch on the west wall was the girl he had saved.
“You awake yet?” he boomed, almost yelling.
On the couch, the girl shifted. Opening her eyes she meowed in confusion.
“Nya?..” she mumbled. Sitting up, she held her side as it burned with pain. Turning quickly to see the man.
“Who are you?” she asked, frightened. White cat-like ears poked out of her hair, showing her true heritage as a cat-demon.
“A hero, I guess..” he adjusted the black beanie on his head. His orange hair poking out beneath it. “The names Julio.” he said monotone, itching his arm.
The girl eyes him suspiciously, sniffing the air before licking her lips quickly. “I’m… Amy.”
“Ok, Amy.. How are you feeling?”
“Like s**t, but why would you care.” Amy winced again as she stumbled to her feet. A long, skinny, white tail slipped out behind her. The tip colored a light tan.
Julio watched as Amy struggled for the door. “You’ll die if you leave.” he mumbled.
Amy paused. “Again, why would you care?”
Julio sighed. “I didn’t save you for nothing.” he stepped closer, placing his hands in his pockets. “I brought you into my home.. Used my medicines on you.. Let you sleep on my couch.. And you’re just going to leave?”
Amy furrowed her brow. “I didn’t ask to be saved, ok. You could have just left me there in that alleyway, you could have just not cared!” She stormed foreword, pushing him on his chest.
Julio grabbed her wrists firmly. “Hey, Amy or whoever you are.. If someone wants to die, I’ll save ‘em. ‘Cuz I’m a d**k like that alright.” Julio exclaimed. “If someone’s askin’ for it, I won’t let ‘em have it.”
Amy began to sob, her knees weakening beneath her.
Julio still held her wrists. “come on, now get some rest.” he tossed her back to the couch. “Before you do kill yourself.” He turned to walk back to the kitchen.
“Wait!” Amy said suddenly. “… Julio..”
He paused as he neared the kitchen.
“Are you.. Are you one of my kind?.. A cat-demon..” she asked.
Julio sighed before carrying on into the kitchen. “No.” he said simply.
Amy sighed and shook her head.
“Hello, Laura?” she heard Julio say from the kitchen. “Mm-hmm… Yeah, she’s fine.” he paused for a moment. “No.. I said I wasn’t, because I’m not..”
Amy perked her ears as her curiosity kicked in. “Nya?..” she mumbled.
“Goodbye Laura.” he hung up. “Arg! Damn b***h tryin’ to run my life..” he grumbled.
Amy shifted on the couch, deciding to listen to her ‘hero’ and get some rest. The pain in her side kept her awake, so she lay on her painless side.
Julio walked past the living room to another part of the house. Mumbling all the while in his fit of anger and frustration.
“Still.. Why did he save a demon like me?.. A nobody, I should have died..” Amy thought, soon drifting off to sleep.
~Later~
“Really? I hope you got the stains out of it, that must have been her favorite coat!” said a woman.
“I got it as best I could, you can try if you want to.” That was Julio.
“Ok, I’ll go do it now.” There were footsteps as the woman passed the living room.
Amy awoke to the new noises, flicking her ears. “Nya..” She muttered, slowly sitting up. Her side cramped causing her to wince.
Julio poked into the living room with a bowl and a cup of water. “Um.. I have more medicine.. For.. You..” He stuttered.
Amy sat up and turned to face him.
