hey. okay wow. i have a lot to talk about.alot happened on so far on our trip. its really crazy so i won't tell you a bunch of stupid stuff just the part hte made me happiest.we started out saturday just so ya know
okay so we left our house 3hours later than we planned. well it was all going good. we took rest stops. confused ourselves over the map, joked, it was all good. MOm not having any vacation time decided to stop to look at a lava bed. it was pretty cool. its kinda funny that in the info center i saw some letters. i read them and all of them were abou having bad luck ever since they took a rock from its spot. its pretty funny. now i'm not superstious but i just think its funny what happened next.
well to get to kansas through colorado you have to go through the navajo res called tuba city. its a really pretty place. gorgeous. lots af amazing rocks. red and amazing. well anyway. you will never guess what happened next. seriously you'll never guess... well our car broke down. seriously. well it was all cool we didn't think to much abouit about. kinda laughed about the rock and the letters. but it was fine. well then we kept going to our mistake. and once again our car broke down right outside of the res. about a mile from the nearest store type thing. ididn't have a name even. so we walked back to it and called a tow truck from tuba city. and while (this is really funny part.)we were waiting mom bought some food to eat. an they gave luke (my lil bro) some tea. well he just looks at the tea for a lil bit and then makes a facce and pulls out.... a... FINGERNAIL!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. it was a huge fingernail to!! it was soooo grosss. and we just started laughing. that was probably the funniest part of the whole trip.
well okay thank goodness mom knew some people from the church in tuba. so we went to stay with them. while the car was getting fixed. thats when i met some of the most amazing people of my life.this is were it gets to the long part.
kay well we spent the night on saturday. so it was sunday and we were going to the services. well there i was all bored an lonely and tired and wearing all black. of course. well all through the service i kept seeing a guy on the other side. he was sitting all by himself and his hand was wrapped in bandages. well he looked alone like me and the pastor was making me mad because he was giving a really bad message. anyway. so after the service i went to go talk to this guy. he was reading the navajo hymn book. it was pretty cool. so anyway we started talking and his name is Ulysses. really cool. he had been in the hospital about 2 months before having to get the tendons in his hands replaced. turns out his brother had beatin him and almost killed him. broke bottles over his head and his freinds had beatin him with rods. he almost died..
he had nothing left. but he did not complain. he kept being concerned about me eating. (on the res all the indians are really overweaght and to htem i am anorexic looking.) just joking a lil bit. he then proceeded to tell me about how he had been in a car wreck and having seen his friends die. i won't even explain what he told me he saw. but he cryed. and it almost made me cry. well sooner or later he had to leave. and he was really reluctant to go. so then for the rest of the day i just mooped around bein the sluncky scrunched teen i am. we walked around town me mom and luke. messed around a lil bit. but then the time for the night sevice got closer. and i was still bored. but then ulysses walked around the side of the building and he greeted me with the biggest smile ever. i felt so cared about. never have i felt so welcome. we sat together during service. he kept trying to teach me how to pronnounce the navajo words. then we laughed at my pathetic attempts. he kept making side comments during the service. then during the songs he laughed when i was trying to sing navajo and i kept scrunching up my nose to make the noises. but he commplemented me by saying i was good for a white person. then mom iinformed us that i we were going to leave on monday. he was soo upset. he just looked at the ground was silent and said "i don't want you to go." that was all it took. i knew he was serious. i had a friend. i almost cryed. do anyof you know what it feels like to have someone pour their whole heart out when they first meet you. i felt cared about. i was someone. i finally knew were i belonged. its amazing how after he told me to travel safe and not to hurt myself and to call him. tell him i was still alive that the whole way to kansas i used my seat belt the whole way.(thats big news for the people who know i despise seat belts. Iz you can tell judah) he said something to me that made me know that he cared. i never felt more loved when i walk in a door than when i walked into the door to his hug. thats were i belong.
the next person is suzie. (monday)the sweetest old woman ya ever did see. she was so cute. she dragged us all over the place and took us to eat. then she cryed to me about how she missed her grandma. good greif i felt so needed. and we took a whole bunch of pictures together. it was great. then we wen't back to the church and she taught me how to make FRY BREAD! YUMMY!!! it was fun. she kdpt laughing about my NOt round fry bread. but i got the hang of it. (wach out my family you are going to get fat!) and all the old women there loved it. it was funny. but suzie and i had gotten so attached to each other that when mom tryed to tear us away to leave we both cryed.."don't leave me! take me wiht you!!!" she cryed. i cryed for her and for ulysses she would look at me and say "my baby is crying. my little tall one is crying" it hurt.
thats were i need to be. my heart is there.. in the red rocks. i will miss them so much. but i will go back. i wll. they need me thre. i need them there. they have nothing. and i only have them. nevr never never never in my whole life haf i ever had a bigger sence of belonging. and understanding. i told them everything. my whole life. they cared. oh gosh i wish i was there. i love them. i don't know how to spell it correctly but he taught me how to say " i am alone there. i belong here." i miss them.
then the rest of the trip was fine. we went through colorado. i cryed alot of the way (to my self) because of people. yeah. but it was really loverly in colorado. the mountains are beautifull. (but i know were i belong) it was cool. we had some great laughs on the way. joked. almost ran out of gass. our car was slowing down out of gas right as we pulled in a gas station. it was great.
so now i am in kansas. when people tell you kansas has a lot of wheat. its true thats all that they have. about. corn, wheat, cows, corn, wheat, cows, wheat, cows, corn, wheat, wheat, oh a tree. wheat, cows, corn, cows. yep it was great.
